2023.06.02 08:17 moneypip1 What Does Carbon Monoxide Smell Like: Understanding the Silent Killer
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be lethal when inhaled in high concentrations. It is produced by the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, including gas, oil, coal, and wood. Common sources of carbon monoxide in homes include gas stoves, furnaces, water heaters, and fireplaces. It is essential to know what carbon monoxide smells like to detect its presence in the environment and take appropriate measures to prevent poisoning.
Unlike other gases that have a distinct odor, such as natural gas, propane, or sulfur, carbon monoxide does not have a detectable smell. It is why it is known as the "silent killer." When inhaled, carbon monoxide binds with hemoglobin in the bloodstream, reducing the amount of oxygen that can be transported to vital organs, such as the brain and heart. This can lead to severe health consequences, including headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion, unconsciousness, and even death.
So,
what does carbon monoxide smell like? The answer is nothing. Carbon monoxide is odorless and invisible, making it difficult to detect without a proper device. However, there are some signs and symptoms that you can look out for to determine whether there is carbon monoxide in the environment.
The first sign of carbon monoxide poisoning is often flu-like symptoms, such as headaches, nausea, and fatigue. These symptoms can easily be mistaken for a viral illness, making carbon monoxide poisoning difficult to diagnose. If these symptoms persist and occur more frequently in a particular location, such as your home or workplace, it may be a sign of carbon monoxide exposure.
Another sign of carbon monoxide exposure is a burning or choking sensation in the throat and chest. This sensation occurs when carbon monoxide binds with hemoglobin in the bloodstream, reducing the amount of oxygen available to the body. The lack of oxygen can cause cells to suffocate, leading to the burning or choking sensation.
Carbon monoxide poisoning can also cause confusion, disorientation, and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can be particularly dangerous while driving or operating heavy machinery. In severe cases, carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to seizures, coma, and death.
If you suspect that there is carbon monoxide in your environment, it is essential to take immediate action to protect yourself and your family. The first step is to get fresh air by opening windows and doors and leaving the affected area. If possible, turn off any appliances that may be producing carbon monoxide, such as gas stoves or furnaces.
Next, seek medical attention immediately. Carbon monoxide poisoning can cause long-term damage to the body, even after exposure has stopped. A healthcare professional can assess your symptoms and provide appropriate treatment, such as oxygen therapy.
To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning from occurring in the first place, it is essential to take preventive measures. Have all gas, oil, and coal-burning appliances serviced annually by a qualified technician. Install carbon monoxide detectors in your home, particularly in areas where fuel-burning appliances are present, such as the kitchen or garage. Test these detectors regularly and replace batteries as needed.
In summary, carbon monoxide is a silent killer that can be difficult to detect without a proper device. It does not have a detectable smell, making it crucial to be aware of the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. If you suspect that there is carbon monoxide in your environment, take immediate action to protect yourself and seek medical attention. Prevention is key to avoiding carbon monoxide poisoning, so make sure to have all fuel-burning appliances serviced annually and install carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Stay safe and be aware of the risks of carbon monoxide exposure.

2023.06.02 07:52 West-Stretch-7977 What is the most common early symptom of lymphoma?
Lymphoma is a type of cancer affecting the lymphatic system, a network of tissues and organs that help the body fight infections and diseases. There are two main types of lymphoma: Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Both types of lymphoma can cause a range of symptoms, but the most common early
symptom of lymphoma is swollen lymph nodes.
Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures throughout the body, including the neck, armpits, groyne, and abdomen. They play a vital role in the immune system, helping to filter out and trap bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances. When lymphoma develops, cancerous cells can build up in the lymph nodes, causing them to become enlarged and swollen.
Swollen lymph nodes are often the first sign of lymphoma and can occur in any part of the body. In some cases, the swollen lymph nodes may be painless; in others, they may be tender or painful to the touch. The size and location of the swollen lymph nodes can vary depending on the type and stage of lymphoma.
Other lymphoma symptoms differ according to the kind and stage of the illness. Some common lymphoma symptoms include:
- Fatigue is a common symptom of lymphoma, as is feeling weary or weak. This might be because the body's immune system works overtime to combat the malignancy.
- Fever: A fever is a typical sign of lymphoma, particularly in the early stages. The fever may be mild or severe and come and go.
- Night sweats - Another typical symptom of lymphoma is night sweats. These can be severe enough to wake the sufferer up at night and come with chills.
- Unexplained weight loss - Losing weight without trying is another common symptom of lymphoma. This may be due to the body's immune system working overtime to fight cancer, or it may be due to cancer itself.
- Itching - Itching is a common symptom of Hodgkin lymphoma. It may be severe enough to disrupt sleep or daily activities.
- Chest pain or shortness of breath - These symptoms may occur if lymphoma affects the lymph nodes in the chest or is pressing on the lungs.
- Abdominal pain or swelling - These symptoms may occur if lymphoma affects the lymph nodes in the abdomen.
It's crucial to remember that not everyone with lymphoma will experience all these symptoms, and some people could have none. It's vital to visit a healthcare professional if you have any of these symptoms because various other ailments can also bring them on.
If lymphoma is suspected, the healthcare provider may perform a physical exam and order diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, imaging tests, or a biopsy of the swollen lymph node. These tests can help determine the type and stage of lymphoma, guiding the treatment plan.
In conclusion, enlarged lymph nodes are the most typical early sign of lymphoma. There may be other symptoms depending on the kind and stage of cancer. If you have any lymphoma symptoms, you should consult a doctor immediately because an early diagnosis and course of treatment might lead to better results.

2023.06.02 05:06 Mobile-Downtown My best friend tried to file a sexual harassment report against me and i don't know what to feel
I'm not one to usually post stuff on any social media platform but this has been haunting me and i really need to get it off my chest. I will be as objective as i can as i tell this story involving me and my best friend - we'll call her X. In order to understand the full context of our situationship, i'll have to go back a couple years. BACKSTORY: It was my first fall semester in college in 2020 back when classes shifted online. I met X through one of my classes and we hit it off eventually. It wasn't until fall 2021 when we headed back to campus where i met her irl and our friendship grew stronger (maybe too strong). At the time, i was in a 1 year relationship and my girlfriend wasn't keen on me being friends with her but i assured her she is nothing more than a friend. However, circumstances led to my girlfriend and i splitting up. X was there for me and we would spend a lot of time hanging out, so much so, people assumed we were dating but i just laughed it off. Most of my friends would insist that X has feelings for me but i always dismissed their remarks as i thought they were reading too much into it. Summer 2022 comes around and after a bit of a confrontation from my end, X admits that she likes me. In fact she admits that she has had a crush on me ever since we had met back in 2020. I was embarrassed as to how blind i was to her feelings all this time but i apologized to her as i didn't feel the same way and i assured her our friendship will not be affected. However, that would not turn out to be the case. We didn't see each other much until late 2022 when we went back to college. I was surprised to see that she got herself a boyfriend she didn't even tell me about. It wasn't a big deal as i too got myself a girlfriend and, since we hadn't been talking as much, didn't let her know. Before i met my girlfriend, her and X were good close friends but they grew apart as my girlfriend considered X to be very toxic to her. When X found iut we were daring, she called us some names to her friends (who are also our friends) but acted normally when l was around, as our interaction was now only limited to occasional college questions and assignments. I also just went with the flow. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, X is my lab partner and we were cutting raw chicken for an experiment. I called for her help but she wouldn't as she was disgusted by it. I pushed for her help that wouldn't come so i thought it'll be a funny idea to cover my gloves with raw chicken and chase after her. She walked away frantically (can't run in a lab) asking me to stop but i continued to walk after her and i doused HER GLOVES with my gloves that were wet with raw chicken and i went back to my station. She then seemed very upset and when the instructor asked her to return tk my station and help me out, X stormed out of class. I followed her to make sure she's okay and i apologized (she refused and asked me to leave). Now the instructor (who saw everything but doesn't care as we always have some fun around in the lab as it was our last ever lab) went to check up on X and that was when X started crying and wished to never see me again. I was surprised by her - what appeared to me as drastic - reaction but i figured she'd cool off and i can talk to her again and apologize for what i did. Couple days later however, i receive a message from an office director that a report for sexual harrassment had been filed against me on the basis that i attacked X with raw chicken and refused to stop when she asked me to. I was starstruck by how far that went and i was terrified by the entire situation as that was clearly not my intention but now my entire career is at risk. I've never been in a fight, i've never been inappropritely involved with anyone, i was genuinely scared of being that guy. Thankfully, the office responsible assured me that i was not in trouble as this case does not warrant an investigation and was not deemed as harassment. This is how the situation holds, she cannot bear me in the same roon with her, and i will not go out of my way and apologize again to someone who perhaps saw this opportunity as revenge I'm glad things didn't ecalate further and my life didn't fall apart but i still don't understand. We were supposed to be good friends why did she think was trying to harass her? With raw chicken gloves? She has every tight to be upset but to try and ruin my entire life over it? Why didn't she just come to me and talk to me about it? Is this her way of payback? Is this situation blown out of proportion or is she in the right? Am i really a bad guy? I don't know what to think.

85 It Happened So Fast
Lois and Clark Apartment
Clark landed on the balcony, listening to Lois telling Jon a bedtime story. The boy’s breathing slowed, showing he was drifting off to sleep. He had tried to get home earlier, but the search for Dubbilex was eating all his free time.
The time since Lois and Clark learned Dubbilex was being held captive by Pipeline had been stressful. Every lead ended up nowhere. Every captured Pipeline agent wouldn’t divulge any information. It was possible Dubbilex’s psychic powers were exploited to keep it that way. Still, Clark couldn’t just stand by when an innocent person was held against his will.
Clark entered the apartment and made his way to the bedroom, stripping away pieces of his uniform until he reached the shower. He closed his eyes, feeling the hot water flow over his body. His mind wandered, trying not to focus on all problems going on at the moment. It was those small moments that kept him going. He didn’t know how long he could keep up the pace he was holding, otherwise.
Lois could be heard entering the bedroom as Clark dried off and put on his pajama pants. He brushed his teeth, listening to Lois fumbling around.
“Don’t look,” she said. “It’s a surprise.”
Clark smiled and picked up the mouthwash. “Tell me when,” he said before taking a sip and swishing it around.
“Whenever you’re ready, Smallville,” Lois called.
“Did you get me a present or-uh…” asked Clark, walking out of the bathroom, stumbling on his words once he saw his wife wearing his Superman suit.
The suit was baggy on Lois, but she tied it around at the waist, and rolled up the sleeves, giving it some style.
“Well, hello, Lois,” said Clark. “You’re looking super tonight.”
The two embraced in a kiss but were quickly interrupted when the building began trembling.
“Earthquake?” asked Lois.
“I don’t think so,” said Clark, looking around. “It’s only this building,” he added. His eyes kept darting in all directions.
“What is it?” asked Lois.
“We’re being watched,” said Clark, scanning upward.
Lois darted her own eyes toward the closed window. “How is that possible?”
A blue light filled the room as Jon knocked on the door. “Mommy,” he said. “What’s going on?”
Lois opened the door and scooped the boy into her arms.
“What’re you wearing?!” asked Jon.
Lois took him into the living room, but the light expanded outward.
“Ooh, pretty,” said Jon, trying to touch the blue glow emanating all over the apartment.
Clark focused his attention on a seemingly empty area above Earth’s atmosphere.
“Clark!” Lois yelled from the living room, fading in and out as the light dimmed and disappeared completely, taking Lois and Jon with it.
“Lois!” Clark cried, frantically turning back to where he was searching.
The light must have been some kind of transporter. There would have been some trace leftover if they were– He didn’t even want to think about it. His senses were picking something up in orbit, but nothing he could see. There must have been a cloaked ship.
Clark zoomed out of the apartment toward the sky.
Unknown Spaceship in Orbit Above Earth
“We’re okay,” Lois told Jon when they appeared in an empty room. The walls were a shiny gray and there didn’t seem to be any doors. “Clark,” she whispered under her breath. “I hope you can hear me.”
“What’s this place?” asked Jon. “How’d we get here, Mommy?”
“I’m not sure, Jon Jon,” said Lois.
One of the walls began glowing and then a circular section of it fizzled away. Three short beings with greenish-blue skin entered the room making strange blubbery noises.
“Who are you?” asked Lois, keeping her voice calm, yet stern. She didn’t want to upset Jon. “Why are we here?” she added.
The blubbery sounds continued.
“They sound funny, Mommy,” said Jon.
“Is that your language?” Lois asked. “I don’t understand.”
Lois had come into contact with aliens before, but there were generally never any language barriers. Apparently, universal translation was common in the stars. Were these beings behind the curve?
Jon giggled as they continued trying to talk. Lois placed him on the ground beside her.
“Can you understand me?” asked Lois slowly and pointing out the “you” and the “me”. “My name is Lois Lane,” she stated. “This is my son, Jonathan Kent.”
One of the aliens lifted a long, stringy finger and pointed to Lois’ chest.
“This symbol,” said Lois. “Do you recognize it?”
“Superman,” the alien said.
Above Earth, Near the Spaceship
The invisible ship wasn’t where Clark detected it before. He couldn’t stay up there forever, but he also couldn’t give up. The longer it took to find Lois and Jon, the harder it would be for him to save them.
Clark reached for his belt, to press the emergency Justice League button, but quickly remembered he was wearing pajamas.
The lack of sound in space made it difficult, but Clark was cycling through every visible spectrum he could try. There was just a lot of space to cover. Part of him said he should return to Earth and gather some help and breathing gear, but he couldn’t risk the ship getting too far away. Not when they were so close.
Funny enough, after Clark’s close call (Superman #36), he had an emergency oxygen mask build into his belt. But that would only have helped if he were wearing his suit instead of Lois.
A ripple caught Clark’s attention and he zeroed in on the location. His X-ray vision couldn’t penetrate the vessel, but he managed to make out some shapes in infrared. He quickly located Lois and Jon next to three smaller beings. They seemed to be okay, thankfully. But the ship was moving away from Earth quickly.
Clark flew toward them, closing the gap but a large cylindrical device in the center of the ship was pulsating erratically. He didn’t have a lot of experience with space travel, but his instinct told him it was some kind of faster-than-light hyperdrive. They couldn’t be allowed to activate it or they’d be out of his reach.
While heat vision could potentially disable the hyperdrive, Clark couldn’t risk causing an explosion. He opted to fire a warning shot at the outer hull, but there was no response. The ship was enveloped in a bubble-like field and then disappeared from Clark’s view.
It didn’t make any sense, but Clark flew in the direction the ship was facing. He should have given up and got help tracking the ship, but it was like his instincts told him to keep after them. Objectively, it was a waste of time trying to catch up. And the further away Clark flew, the greater the chances were he’d run out of air before he got back.
But something incredible and unexpected happened. Clark felt a surge of heat bubbling up from inside. Before he knew it, he was shooting through space, stars warping into lines as he passed them by.
Clark was traveling faster than light.
Mistaken Identity
Spaceship
“I’m not Superman,” Lois tried to explain to the alien pointing to her chest, who kept repeating the name. “You’re looking for him, right?” she asked. “Send us back to where we were and I’ll let him know.”
“Superman,” the alien said again.
The other two companions scurried around the room, pressing their fingers on seemingly empty parts of the walls. Jon watched them in amusement. He tried to follow them, but Lois pulled him back, keeping him against her leg.
“Lawnmower,” the alien said.
“Wh-what?” asked Lois, completely caught off guard by the first word she understood besides ‘Superman’.”
“Lawnmower microwave,” the alien continued. “Coorindated exoskeleton international starlight.”
“You can speak English after all?” asked Lois. “Well, I use ‘speak’ generously.”
“We cardinal storage,” said the alien. “Closer to fluid stamp. Articulation storage exact momentary.”
“I don’t understand,” said Lois. “Is there any way-”
“Speech,” the alien continued. “Fixing enter herald toolbox.”
The other two aliens pressed a few more areas of the wall and began bouncing their legs up and down in a little dance. They seemed excited.
“This should expert work now,” the talking alien said. “Apologies for our grain translator. We believe the species have been worked out. Can you understand me now, Superman?”
“I’m not Superman,” said Lois, sternly. “Why have you taken us? Who are you? Where are we?”
“You-you’re not Superman?” the alien asked. “My name is Cola. My companions are Belly and Dollar. You are aboard our ship, The Crunchy, heading to our planet Pancake.”
“Pancakes?” asked Jon.
“Almost,” Cola corrected, smiling at the child. “Pancake.” He turned back to Lois. “We need Superman to help us. Pancake will not survive.”
Space
Clark panicked and it broke him out of faster-than-light speed. Did he even end up in the same direction? If he were off by the slightest angle, he could have veered light-years away.
How did he even do that? Could he travel faster than light the whole time? Was it a new power? Something leftover from his power change (Superman #70)? It wasn’t the time to wonder.
Should he turn back? Could he even find his way back? He might have had the same chance trying to find the ship.
There was nothing around him. No planets. No ship. He had to do something, but he was basically stranded. Stranded in space in his pajama pants. Even if he could find a planet for air, would he be able to get back to Earth? Would he spend the rest of his life jumping from planet to planet, trying to find his way?
Clark looked far off in all directions, looking for any signs of anything. He must be able to kickstart his hyperspeed, but he needed to aim somewhere. If only he could find the ship. But he couldn’t do his family any good if just stayed there.
At last, Clark found a potential planet. But he couldn’t bring himself to head to it. It felt like giving up. He took another look at his surroundings, cycling through different visible spectrums again. He had to stop himself from exhaling a breath of relief when he saw an energy trail.
It had to be from the ship, what else could it be? Clark focused on the path and took off in a burst of speed along it. He didn’t seem to be breaking his usual top speed, though. The movement wasn’t along the stars like before.
Clark tried to remember how he felt before. The urgency of losing Lois and Jon. The heat he felt, which had started from his stomach and radiated outward.
There was still no change.
How long had he been out there? He could hold his breath for quite a long time, but it was starting to get uncomfortable.
What if his family was uncomfortable? What if they were in danger? He had no idea what was happening to them.
There it was. Clark was doing it again. Somehow bending the laws of the universe to travel faster than he, or likely any Kryptonian, had gone before.
The next problem was keeping on the same path, which proved difficult. Clark had to keep course correcting across the trail, almost on instinct alone. If he took too long, he could end up way off course. Before he knew it, though, the ship was in sight.
Lois and Jon were still standing, three beings in the same room. Clark slowed to match the ship’s speed and grabbed hold. He couldn’t detect any doors or airlocks. The inside of the craft was broken into small rooms and only the room with his family was occupied.
Clark positioned himself over an empty room and began punching away.
The Crunchy
“You need to take us home right away,” said Lois. “My husband must be worried sick.”
“I’m afraid that’s not possible,” Cola explained. “The Crunchy can only hold enough fuel for a two-way trip. So we must refuel at Pancake before setting out again.”
“I don’t understand,” said Lois. “You wanted Superman’s help, so you came to Earth to just take him without his consent?”
Cola turned his head. “I’m afraid I don’t understand either,” he said. “With champions, consent is implied. Why would that be a problem?”
“What if he were busy?” asked Lois.
Belly glided over. “We had scanned his domicile and found he wasn’t,” she said, her voice high but every so often dropped lower. “Although, we had mistakenly identified you as him.”
“I was busy,” said Lois. “You can’t just make assumptions-”
An alarm began blaring and a red glow filled the room.
Dollar tapped a button on the wall and a portion of the wall turned into a screen showing Clark in a similar-looking room. There was a hole in the wall, but Clark was sealing it with his heat vision.
“Clark,” said Lois.
Once the hole was fixed, Clark could be seen catching his breath before disappearing from the room.
Clark burst through one of the other walls, rushing over to Lois and Jon, and embracing them in a hug.
“Daddy!” Jon yelled.
“Are you two okay?” he asked.
Lois nodded and Clark turned his attention to the aliens, his eyes glowing red hot.
“You abducted my family,” he said. “You better start explaining.”
“You’re him, aren’t you?” asked Cola. He and the others looked over Clark closely. “You’re Superman?”
“Superman?” asked Jon.
They’d have to deal with Jon once they were home safe again. He likely had a lot of questions, the answers to which he may not be old enough to understand. Things were going to be complicated. But the most important thing was they were safe.
“They want your help to stop an invader from conquering their world,” Lois explained. “They thought I was you.”
Clark let his eyes return to normal. “Seriously?” he asked Lois before turning back to the abductors. “Why didn’t you just ask?”
The three shared confused glances. “We don’t understand,” said Cola. “Asking for help would be an insult to you.”
“Maybe on your world,” said Clark.
“Pancake,” Lois added.
“Wh-what?” asked Clark.
Lois fought back a laugh. “That’s the name of their world.”
“Maybe on Pancake,” Clark continued. “But in our world, what you did would be considered a crime.”
The Pancakers shot open their eyes.
“Oh my,” said Belly.
“We would never,” Dollar added.
“Our deepest apologies,” said Cola. “We cannot correct our mistake, but all we can do is ask now.” He took a second. “This is tough. It goes against my upbringing, but will you help Pancake?”
“Are we having pancakes?” asked Jon.
“Maybe when we get home,” Lois answered.
Help
In Orbit Above Pancake
Later
After Lois gave Clark back his suit, and the Pancakers provided Lois with something to wear, they filled in Clark about their fuel limitations. He agreed to help however he could, but they would need to send his family back to Earth as soon as possible.
“The Crunchy is charging,” Cola explained. “It will take several hours until we can make a return trip.”
Clark was studying footage of the attacks on their world. Metal robots overpowered their forces, but they managed to hold their own, keeping them from advancing too far. They seemed to have specific areas of the planet they were trying to access, but it wasn’t clear why. Some of them were attempting to build odd, spire-like structures, while others were circling around the capital city without even advancing inward.
“They seem to be an automated army,” asked Clark. “Do you know who controls them?”
“There’s another ship in orbit,” said Cola. “A being who calls himself Breadial attacked our ships as we attempted to flee to get help. We have to keep our ships in cloak all the time or risk them being destroyed.”
“I see,” said Clark. “Can you call Breadial? I’d like to talk to him.”
“That would be too dangerous,” said Cola. “Transmitting would reveal our location. Breadial’s ship would shoot us down.”
“Let me outside,” said Clark.
Breadial’s Ship
A blue light glowed next to Breadial’s ship and Clark appeared, hovering toward the front window, his back against the planet. The ship was small and covered in black, silver, and green metals. There was a green, humanoid being standing inside staring back at him.
Clark pointed to himself and then back at Breadial. He hoped it was obvious he meant “I need to talk to you.”
The being continued to stare. He was saying something, but Clark couldn’t make out the words. Superhearing did no good through the vacuum of space.
A section in the front of Breadial’s ship began to glow red and before Clark could react, it fired a blast that sent him hurtling toward the planet below.
The Crunchy
Lois watched Clark get attacked on the wall screen. “You have to do something,” she said, trying not to raise her voice. The Pancakers set up a bed for Jon and had finally fell asleep again.
“We cannot,” said Cola. “We’ve alerted our people on Pancake of the situation. They’ll offer whatever help they can.”
“I want to hear the moment they reach him,” Lois ordered. “I’m sure he’s okay, but I have to be sure.”
“Of course,” said Cola.
Belly walked over and waved her hand. “Miss Lois,” she said. “I just wanted to let you know we resolved the rest of our translation bugs. Apparently, names were still not quite right, assigning similar-sounding words from your language.”
“That explains some things,” said Lois.
“My name is not Belly for instance. It’s Belleny. Cola’s name is Collior. Dollar’s name is Dollire.“
“And your planet’s name?” Lois asked. “As much as I loved the name Pancake, I take it that’s not quite right either.”
“Correct,” Belleny said. “Our planet is called Panscake. Also, our ship is called The Crunchero.”
Lois looked back to the wall screen, still showing Breadial’s ship. “And the invader?” she asked.
“His name is Brainiac.”
Lois’s mouth dropped. “Wait, what?!”

The Superstar flops into the corner once more, and Garvin is halted from pulling him away by the official. As The Superstar exits the corner, Garvin is right back on top of him, whips him off the ropes, and delivers a back body drop! The Superstar rolls out of the ring once more, but Garvin follows in pursuit. Garvin charges in, but gets caught with a drop-toe hold, and crashes into the announce table.
Mann: Watch out!
Woodbridge: Garvin seeking to capitalize on his newfound momentum here…
Crowd: [Does not care]
The Superstar throws Garvin back into the squared circle, and delivers a club to the back of his head, Followed by stomps and a knee drop. Superstar waits for Garvin to try and get back up, before stomping again, followed by a punch. As Garvin powers back to his feet, The Superstar looks to grab him, but Garvin pulls him in for a belly-to-belly suplex! Superstar shuffles into the corner, followed by Garvin, who eats a boot for his trouble before The Superstar storms out with a lariat. The Superstar looks for a chin lock, but Garvin is too oily, and he slips free. Superstar retaliates for this oily transgression with a fist and applies a headlock to a cornered Garvin.
Mann: And The Superstar getting some offense here, Garvin is in trouble! Can our TV champion save the match?
The Superstar works the headlock in the corner until the ref forces a break, at which juncture The Superstar turns around and throws his fists at Garvin. Following this, The Superstar lifts Garvin to his feet and goes for a whip, but as Garvin hits the other turnbuckle, he lifts his left foot to kick an incoming Superstar! As Garvin looks to capitalize, The Superstar grabs the leg that kicked him and takes Garvin down to the mat. Superstar drops an elbow on Garvin’s knee, and a second elbow, before looking for a knee twist, which Garvin pushes away from.
Mann: And Garvin fends off the Superstar’s onslaught! What a heroic effort by our TV Champion!
Crowd: [awkward silence]
Garvin sells his injured knee for a moment, before using it to pull a charging Superstar down with a drop-toe hold, flip Superstar over, and try to apply a submission, but this time, The Superstar pushes Garvin away! The Superstar delivers an elbow to a staggered Garvin, before delivering a Russian leg sweep, and going for a cover.
ONE TWO Kickout!
The Superstar is in disbelief that his leg sweep failed to get the victory, and he pulls Superstar by the arm, before kicking his downed body in the rib. Garvin throws himself off the ground to throw a punch at Superstar’s gut, but as he gets up, he is once again cut off by a clothesline, and a pin attempt.
ONE TWO Kickout.
Crowd: [Apathetic, a smattering of boos, and a single portly fan in a Shooting Association shirt attempting to start a “boring” chant]
Woodbridge: The Superstar is unable to get the best of Garvin despite some strong offense here, and the longer this goes on, the more I like the TV Champion’s chances in this match.
Mann: And all the Garvinites in the crowd cheering for their hero to make a comeback!!
Crowd shot of bored audience quickly pans back to the ring, where The Superstar is applying an arm wringer Mann: And this match of course is presented by our sponsors, over at Mann Corporation!
The Superstar transitions to a half camel clutch, still clutching the arm of Garvin Mann: Mann Corporation is committed to providing high-quality products to all of our loyal customers! Use code “WiR” at checkout for 3.5% off select items at MannCoStore.com!
The Superstar has transitioned into a standing headlock Mann: If you buy within the next 7 minutes, all Gabe Garvin merchandise is 10% off! Act fast! And now, back to the action!
Garvin powers out of the headlock and whips The Superstar into a corner. He charges in, and misses, as The Superstar moves out of the way, and attempts to lock in another arm wringer. Garvin tries to power out but fails, and the hold is applied.
Superstar: ASK HIM!
Garvin does not submit, and once again tries to lift himself upwards. Superstar sees this, and shifts so that he is lying down on the back of Garvin, still applying the arm wringer. Garvin winces in agony and reaches for the rope with his free hand. Unable to reach them, Garvin Begins to power himself upwards for the third time, and this one is successful, as he slowly works his way up to his feet, Superstar now trapped in the air in a fireman’s carry. The Superstar pushes himself off as Garvin gets to his feet, and tries to throw a punch. Trying to reclaim the momentum, The Superstar goes for an Irish whip, and looks for a dropkick as Garvin returns, but to no avail! Garvin holds onto the rope, and The Superstar crashes back to the ground.
Mann: And Garvin escaping the hold! Superstar is dazed!
Woodbridge: And this could be the opening the TV Champion needs to regain control of this match! The Superstar is in trouble, as Gabe is Garving up!
Mann: It’s Garvin’ time!
Garvin bounds off the ropes and leaps for a flying clothesline!
Mann: What a maneuver!
Garvin hits the ropes again, and nails a staggered Superstar with another flying clothesline! The Superstar writhes in agony as he tries to pull himself back to a standing base, where Garvin is waiting for him. Garvin bounces off the ropes, and nails a rising Superstar with a shoulder block.
Mann: Vintage Garvin! And he has the upper hand! The fans here on their feet!
Crowd: [Silent, sitting down]
Garvin ascends to the second rope, and as a wounded Superstar ascends once more, he leaps for a double ax handle, but nobody is home! The Superstar looks to capitalize with a DDT, but it gets blocked by Garvin, who fights out, throws Superstar against the ropes, and hits another shoulder block. With The Superstar down, Garvin looks at the crowd, backs against the ropes, and hits a fist drop!
One guy in the crowd Crowd: YEEEAAAH WE FUCKIN LOVE THE FIST DROP YEEEEAAHHH
Crowd: WOOO!! GAR-VIN! GAR-VIN!
Woodbridge: And the people exploding for Garvin’s fist drop! (?)
Garvin looks almost surprised at the suddenly raucous crowd, and motions for his finishing maneuver! As soon as he indicates he isn’t going for another fist drop, the crowd dies and goes back to their silence. Superstar stumbles to his feet, gets his arm trapped, and’s he’s lifted into the air, before being slammed down with a
Pump Handle Slam! Garvin goes into the cover…
ONE TWO THREE!
DING DING DING!! Mann: And Gabe Garvin retains!
Woodbridge: His victory was all but Garunteed
Babaganouh: And here is your winner, at a time of Seven minutes and Forty-Five seconds… Garunteed Gaaaaaabeeeeee Gaaaaarviiiin!!
Crowd [Scant Murmors]
Mann: And tonight we have seen a truly memorable title defense from our heroic TV Champion, Gabe Garvin. The monitor shows Dexter Flux on screen, who immediately gets a crowd pop 10x louder than anything of the past 7:45
Crowd: FLUX! FLUX! FLUX! WE LOVE FLUX!
Flux: I'm not… I'm not Jewish, but that's really not what JDate is about. It's about like… dating. JDate is what JDate is. That's what it is. I'm Dexter Flux. I'm the President of the United States. Thank you for your service.
The monitor cuts back to the crowd going bananas for Flux. A guy is screaming and beating the shit out of the old woman sitting next to him because he loves Dexter Flux so much.
Mann: And you too can be just like these happy people if you buy a Gabe Garvin T-Shirt, now 4% off at select TJ Maxx stores near you!
Garvin holds up his title on the apron while the crowd cheer for Flux, and a photographer gets a photo of the victorious champion in front of a cheering crowd. As Garvin gets down from Bret’s rope, the camera cuts to…
Something else. It's shot differently, worse cameras that pan around instead of cut. No commentary. No acknowledgment. It's a documentary shoved in the middle of a wrestling show.
We're in a church basement, or a community gym, or something like that, with hardwood floors and dim, white light pouring in through windows near the top of the room. There's a table next to the door with a coffee machine and paper cups and a door to the outside propped open, so people can step out to smoke. A voice speaks up.
Teddy (O.S.): I don't think I've ever been a good person.
We move to the middle of the room. There's a circle of people sitting in chairs, looking at one whose face is obscured but whose voice most WiR diehards recognize. The circle's watching him carefully, skeptically. A couple of them glance at the camera as it moves by, which seems like an outsider - a perverse interloper. Some of them are recognizable, heels from all over the wrestling scene. Most of them seem miserable to be here, unrepentant. One figure, dressed up, seems more warm in his posture, but we don't see his face either.
Teddy (O.S.): I don't think I've ever really tried, I mean. I've been a good guy, for a little bit. Here and there. But I wasn't who I was. I was somebody trying to get cheered, trying to make sure they loved me. And when they didn't, I just… I snapped.
Finally, we see him, the object of their attentions. He is sitting in a chair, dressed down in a t-shirt, paper cup of coffee by his feet.
Teddy Coronado. There's no charisma to the way he speaks. He was a preacher once, electrifying, manic, an embodiment of television airwaves. Now, he's mumbling. The camera zooms in on his face, as he tried to put together the next few words, shaking his head. The words seem ridiculous to say and maybe that's because they're wrestling words and this man - sitting here, in the basement - does not seem to be a wrestler.
Teddy: I'm Teddy Coronado and… Sorry. I'm Teddy and I'm a heel.
Others (all together): Hi, Teddy.
He cringes at them.
Teddy: I've been…
He stops, sucking on his tongue. It's the noise of a crowd, again.
Teddy: I'm sorry, I don't think I can do this.
Spence (O.S.): It's alright.
The camera pans over to a much more shocking face,
Spence Cooper, dressed like a normal person, with a buttoned-up v-neck, instead of his usual attire as one half of the Golden State Stars, wearing mesh shirts and whatever nonsense is left. The rest of the group turns to him with a sort of reverence that seems wholly unfitting for him.
Spence: This is hard stuff, Teddy, alright - this is hard stuff, everybody. I mean, when I was a member of the Golden State Stars-
Chaz (O.S): GOLDEN! STATE! ST-
Spence: Chaz.
We whip pan to Chaz Levine, who is also there.
He is dressed less like a normal person. Chaz: Sorry, bro, still working on it.
Spence: We all have hiccups, is what I was saying. This is hard work. That's why not everybody does it. But it's good work. You've been here for a long time, right?
He's staring at the ground as he said it, as if ashamed.
Teddy: Six months.
Spence: Six months and it's still hard. That should show to everyone else here that even the best of us You can do it, Teddy. You can say it.
Teddy takes a breath, tries to put it together. After a few seconds, he looks back up. And it's almost there. That spark, that fire in his eyes.
Teddy: I've… been thinking about things, recently. I've been thinking about my time as a wrestler. I've done a lot of things in this business - and I'm not bragging about that, but I'm saying it because I need to say it. I was the best guy on the mic for a long time. I was good in the ring, too. I beat some of the best people in that company and sometimes I even did it clean.
There's a chuckle at that, in the room, and he gives a rueful smile, for a second, looking back on everything. Then it fades. So does the light in his eyes. Teddy looks at his feet, again, but the rest of them are listening, now. Most of them hate this place, but they listen
Teddy: I lied, I cheated, I stole. I used every dirty fucking trick in the book - you can look. My granddad wrote it. I used weapons. I hired my own ref. I made my own matches. I attacked people from behind the scenes. I once wrestled with a cardboard cut-out, so I could move its torn-off foot under the bottom rope to get a break.
He's looking up, now, and the fire isn't in his eyes, but it's in his words.
Teddy: I gave up everything for that title, for those accolades, for those year-end awards, for my hand raised up at the end of the night. I've got a claim to being the best champion in that company's history. I went into this business looking for all of that. I said to myself that I'd be different than my family, from my great-grandfather, from my grandfather, from my…
He stops. He leaves the final word unsaid.
Teddy: But that's not what I'm saying. I had the chance to change my name. I had a shitty start, but I had my own agency. What I did was my own. And by the end, I gave up that. I gave up my decency, my integrity, my dedication to this art, I gave up everything I have - and I don't have anything to show for it.
There's a crippling silence, for a few moments, the kind of silence you only notice when everything felt so loud before it.
Teddy: I don't talk to any of the roster I was a part of. My name doesn't get mentioned in promos. The fans - the fans that used to jeer my name, who serenaded me after I was forced out of that company - they don't think about me. I gave up everything I ever had and I don't…
He takes a shallow breath, emotional, seeming to hold back tears as he rubs his temples.
A man offers him a tissue box but he waves it aside. For as much pride as he has managed to put aside, he can't allow himself to cry in front of the only people he's ever been genuine to.
Teddy: I got an offer, recently. You guys know about it.
Teddy half-heartedly gestures at the camera and a couple of them glance back at it. Chaz, on the edge of frame, flexes a little bit when reminded a camera is watching him.
Teddy: I got an offer to come back to WiR. They're coming back, apparently, again. They've offered me a couple times, over the years, and I almost took it. I even said I would, once, before. Back when I still had the bookstore. And then I started training and I became what I was, again, and I gave up the bookstore, and I was so fucked up I couldn't even make it to the show, because I realized, in that ring…
He pauses and they're all listening. He hates that, because he knows why they're listening and why he's talking. Because the fire, suddenly, is there. It's there in his eyes. It's there in his voice. It's there in the way he sits in that chair, the knotting his hands do as he talks, but most of all it's there in the crowd, listening with rapt attention.
Teddy: There's the Teddy Coronado with the money, with the television show, with the betrayal and the burials, even the Teddy who dressed up like a dentist and said he hated bullies. They say I've been a lot of people, had a lot of gimmicks, but the trick is they're all the same one. They're all somebody who needs to have the whole world know that they're the best. But they're all masks. Facades. And when I got into that ring, lit by halogen lights, no one in the audience, no one facing me in that ring, no one there but me, I realized the truth.
The fire in his voice has burned away and, now, he speaks in ashes: harsh, more serious than he's ever been, and more painful. He is being true.
Teddy: I don't know what's beneath those masks. I don't. A part of me is terrified that there isn't anything there. That the shit I've done, to other people, to the industry as a whole, that's who I am. I've tried to find out who it is, out here. I tried to open a bookstore, I tried to become a trainer, I tried to get as far away from that ring as possible.
He stops, again. The crowd is fully drawn in, now, and a furrowed brow of concern on Spence's face breaks through the mask of supportiveness.
Teddy: But, when I got that email, that offer… I think I realized that there's only one way for me to figure that out-
Spence: Teddy…
Teddy turns his eyes to Spence, but there's a weariness to his eyes. He's already made up his mind. He made it up before he even entered this room, before he even entered the cameras in, before Spence even says the thing he knows he's about to say.
Spence: Teddy, I know what you're about to say. And I want to tell you in front of the group, because I know you don't want there to be secrets here. I've been lured that way. We all have, but you have to know that there is a risk to what you're about to say. Some people can recover, can re-enter that ring, Teddy, but some people can't.
There is a warmth in Spence's eyes that make you realize that this is not the same man that was a Golden State Star. Not anymore. But he knows that he can't change his mind.
Spence: This is in your hands, Teddy. It always is.
Teddy sits there, genuinely considering the words and then he smiles. Knows how absurd what he's about to say is. And then he speaks, just as resolute as before. No. More so.
Teddy: I know. But I hear it in me. I hear the roar of the crowd, with me or against me. I hear my opponent's music hit. I hear the bending of the mat, the straining of the ropes, the fight. I know that who I was in there was a monster. But I know that, if there's something of me left, beneath all of this, it's in there.
He stands up.
Teddy: This is what I'm choosing to do, Spence. I'm sorry.
Teddy walks out of the circle, across the hardwood floor, and steps out the door. The camera doesn't follow.
Javier (O.S.): Ladies and gentlemen, the Independent Champion, Diiiiiiiiick Dover!
We cut back to Knott's Berry Farm, where the crowd reacts in a mixed fashion to the announcement of Dick Dover. Prisoner of Society hits, and Dick Dover walks through the curtain with the Independent Championship over his shoulder.
Mann: The Independent Champion enters the building, he says he has an announcement to make.
Woodbridge: That’s right, Shay. We don’t know what it’s going to be, but when Dover walked into the venue this afternoon, he insisted on addressing the crowd.
Dover grabs a mic from Maurice Chondon ringside, then walks up the stairs, wipes his feet on the apron, and enters the ring. He then turns to face the crowd.
Dover: I know you all have a lot of thoughts about me, but let’s get one thing clear right now. There’s been a lot of time gone by since you last saw me. But don’t get me wrong, one thing wouldn’t have changed no matter how long we’ve been apart. I am still
your Independent Champion.
Crowd: mix of boos and applause Dover: But there have been changes. Changes in the world and changes with myself, and it’s time for me to share with you all some changes I’ve made. When WiR went on hiatus i-
Nitroglycerin hits as Joey McCarty storms out from behind the curtain holding a mic.
Crowd: Boooooooooo
McCarty: No no no no no no fuck this shit. I know what this is. I’m not stupid.
McCarty stomps down to the ring.
McCarty: Dick, you’ve talked all this talk about being a fighting champion, but I know a retirement announcement when I see one.
McCarty slides into the ring and pops up to his feet, pacing around Dover.
McCarty: and you must be out of your mind to think you can walk out of here title held high, to a cheering crowd, and go out as champion. You’re out of your goddamn mind.
Dover walks towards McCarty.
Dover: You don’t even-
McCarty: Save it, honestly. I came into this business as an outsider, and I was given the crash course. I don’t know where you learned this, it might have been in dogwater Florida, but it certainly wasn’t in Toronto.
Dover: Joey, you’ll shut the hell up if you know what’s good for you.
McCarty: What I was taught is that you always go out on your back. If you won’t do that, then I’ll do that for you.
Dover goes to talk, but McCarty slaps him.
McCarty: So what you’re going to do right now, is lie down, stare at the lights, and you can end your career the way you’re supposed to, and watch me coronate myself as a triple crown champion.
Dover: Interesting point Joey, counterpoint:
Dover hits McCarty with a spinning back elbow, sending him to the mat!
Dover: You don’t tell me what to fucking do. So here’s what we’re actually going to do, I’m going to show these people I
am a fighting champion, we’re going to get a ref out here, and I’m going to whoop your ass
Crowd: YAYYYYY
Mann: HOLD ON A SECOND, DOVER. YOU DON’T GET TO PROMISE PEOPLE MATCHES, I MAKE THE MATCHES but that is a good idea so lets get a ref out here BECAUSE I SAID SO.
Crowd (a little more confused): YAYYY
Jeff Boone sprints out from backstage at full speed and dives headfirst under the rope into the ring.
Boone: ALRIGHTWEGOTAREGULARCHAMPIONSHIPMATCHONEFALLLET’SKEEPITCLEANBOYSNOCLOSEDKNUCKLESONPUNCHESNOHAIRPULLINGIWON’THAVEANYNONSENSEINTHISRINGYOUHEREMEOKRINGTHEBELL
The bell rings, leaving both men a little stunned at how quickly this match has started. Joey moves into action first, lurching for Dover, arms outstretched in a clear indication that Joey wants to initiate a classic “Test of Strength.” Dick Dover knocks away the hands and shoots for a double-leg takedown, sending Joey sprawling to the mat.
Mann: Wow, an incredibly technical start for Dover. Sometimes I think we forget home in depth his wrestling knowhow is.
Dick Dover is slowly overpowering Joey from underneath, when a glint shines in the Canadian’s eyes. A brutal knee to the face erupts from McCarty, slamming into Dover’s nose. Dover steps back, covering his damaged face. Blood begins to drip onto the mat.
Woodbridge: Wow, Dover is absolutely busted up!
Paisner: That’s the opportunistic streak of McCarty showing. Give him an inch, he’ll take a mile and sell you back the inch for triple it’s market value.
Dover shakes his head, trying to clear up the fog inflicted from Joey’s move. Before he gets a chance to recover, Joey is behind him, snaking his arms up to lock Dover in a full nelson. Dover is in a precarious position, but he digs his fingers into Joey’s eyes, cause the hold to release.
Woodbridge: A savvy veteran move, but is it legal?
Mann: Absolutely not. It seems like this ref is going to let them play on, for some reason. Very hands off.
Woodbridge: When you’ve got two fighters who will do whatever it takes to win, sometimes it’s best to just let them go at it. Anything less than that could give the other an unfair advantage.
Dover throws a couple quick strikes to McCarty’s midsection. Joey winces and bends over, giving Dick the opportunity to hit him with a Leg Drop Bulldog that pounds Joey into the mat!
Crowd: WOOOOAH! Dover capitalizes on McCarty’s grounded position, dropping some falling elbows into the fallen man. But the third elbow doesn’t land cleanly, given Joey the opportunity to flip over and nail another knee into Dover, this time right on the side of his head.
Mann: Hard to imagine these headshots won’t have an effect on Dover if this match goes long.
A quick leap to his feet, and Joey finally has the position he wanted in the beginning, locking up Dover in a contested full collar tie. He gains the upper hand, and begins controlling Dover towards the corner. A grasp of Dover’s wounded head, and then suddenly McCarty is rubbing Dover’s face all over the ringpost!
Crowd: OOOF But Dover isn’t one to take something like this without fighting back. A wild leg flail nails McCarty right in the gonads, sending him backwards in pain. The ref looks to step in, but then decides not to as Dover runs towards his and lands an uppercut into lariat combo that sends Joey back down to the ground. Dover attempts a cover!
1!
No!
Joey kicks out with relative ease, prompting Dover to consider more violence towards the grounded wrestler.
Mann: What could this devilish man be considering next?
Dover sits on McCarty.
Woodbridge: A chair!
A quick pivot from Dover, and suddenly Joey is up in the air, face in anguish from the inverted surfboard stretch.
Woodbridge: A painful chair!
Suddenly, a voice rings out from the crowd.
Random Fan: DOVER IS STILL LAME! Dover, mildly irritated by the fan, releases the hold on Joey, sending the stretched out man to the mat. He gets up and aggressively points to the crowd in the direction of the mysterious fan.
Dover: Hey Asshole! You wanna see lame? I’ll show you lame!
Dover grabs Joey’s hair and becomes slamming punches into the downed man’s face.
Crowd: LAME DOVER LAME DOVER LAME DOVER A frustrated Dover now releases the hold and turns his back on Joey, heading over to the ringpost. He begins to remove the cover. At this point, blood has completely covered his chest. Joey stirs and stands, sneaking up to behind Dover. A quick snatch and Joey has surprise rolled up Dover for a pin!
1! 2! No! Dover kicks out and gets back to his feet, but Joey is quicker and grabs Dover’s arm for an irish whip, sending him into the exposed ring post!* The hard metal digs into the small of Dover’s back and he reels in pain, back into Joey who snags his wrist, twisting it into a hold. Dover is up in the air and slammed back onto his neck as Joey lands a modified Fisherman Driver on the champion!
Crowd: OOOOOHHHHH!!!!
It’s Joey’s turn to batter the grounded Dover, repeatedly sending soccer kicks into his skull. The dull sound of bone against flesh carries through the arena in a way that makes most attendees uncomfortable. Joey lifts Dover to his feet, intending to whip him into the exposed ring post again, but Dover has seen this before. He counters with a reversal, sending McCarty into the ropes, McCarty rebounds and Dover SLAMS him into the mat with a teeth-rattling spinebuster!
Crowd: YAYYYYY
Mann: I’m not sure if Dover’s winning the crowd over or if they just enjoy seeing Joey get hurt, either way, Dover is red-hot!
Dover grabs McCarty, and goes into the set up for his Doverleaf! But before he can, a small figure pops up onto the apron.
Woodbridge: WOAH, WHAT IS SHE DOING HERE?!
Gigi appears holding a spray bottle and she sprays a fine clear mist right into Dover’s eyes and cackles maniacally!
Mann: What’s this?! It's Gigi! And she’s just assaulted Dover with some sort of liquid!
Dover drops McCarty and grabs at his eyes. Kaitlyn Casey Jones appears from the crowd, holding a sign that says “GAMER GIRL BATHWATER $279.69”, she hops the barricade and grabs a mic, laughing with Gigi. Jones pulls a card out of her pocket and starts reading it.
KCJ: Hey faaaans, if you’re looking to order some of the water that our favorite e-girl actually bathes in, it’s up on the website right now! Guaranteed to have touched Gigi’s skin, go to
www.gigigamergirlgush.pizza for more details. Fuck you, Dick!”
Gigi: I wrote that last part.
McCarty clambers to his feet, confused. He notices Dover staggering, and launches himself into the air, connecting with a superman punch to the back of Dover’s skull.
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOO
Mann: BERTUZZI! DOVER’S OUT COLD
Woodbridge: I can’t believe this, Dover’s had the title stolen from him!
McCarty scrambles to cover Dover.
1 2 3-NO Crowd: WOAAAAAH YAYYY
Mann: Dover kicked out!
Woodbridge: How!?!?
McCarty stumbles to the corner in disbelief, and collapses into a seated position onto the bottom turnbuckle, the crowd swells, and McCarty’s confounded expression turns to disbelief and then to anger, he pops to his feet and stomps towards Dover.
Woodbridge: What do either of these men have left in the bag?!
McCarty lifts Dover to his feet, cussing him out as he does. McCarty attempts his Bus Driver Uppercut, but Dover springs to life and catches him, and PLANTS him with a kneeling jawbreaker!
Mann: Cliffs of Dover!
Woodbridge: From the last of his energy!
Mann: Cover!
1 2 3 DING DING DING Crowd: YAYYYYY!
Mann: Dover is still Independent Champion!
Before Javier can make the announcement, Gigi and KCJ hit the ring and attack Dover, as McCarty rolls out of the ring, jumping him and punching and kicking Dover while he’s down.
Crowd: BOOOOOOOO
Woodbridge: What the hell is this?!
Mann: Gigi still thinks she’s owed a shot at the Independent Championship, she must have made some sort of deal with McCarty to get her match!
Woodbridge: And now that her plan is up in smoke, she’s taking it out on Dover!
Gigi and KCJ continue their assault, KCJ picks up the mic and is about to speak, but before she can, Adam Raised A Cain plays.
Crowd: YAYYYYYYYY
Woodbridge: Someone else with unfinished business, Mark Dutch!
Mark Dutch runs out, Joey McCarty is standing on the ramp, and Dutch shoulder checks him out of the way! Dutch then slides into the ring, and pulls KCJ off of Dover and out of the ring! Gigi scrambles out of the ring away from Dutch.
Mann: Last time we saw these two, they were at eachothers throats, but now Dutch comes to save Dover? What’s going on?
Woodbridge: Looks like there's still lots of unfinished business around these parts.
Mann: That’s enough of this.
Mann grabs a stick mic and attempts to stand on the commentary table, but it wobbles so he instead stands on his chair Mann: When I brought this company back, it wasn’t for what it was, but what it can become, so I can’t have you three stinking up the joint with old beef, so let’s settle this at the next show. You three for the Independent Title.
a brief pause to let that sink in Crowd: WOOOOOOO
Mann sits back down with a grin on his face.
Mann: I like this “making matches live” thing
Woodbridge: Could stand to work on your crowd work though.
Mann: More WiR action, after this!
Dover, Dutch and Gigi staring eachother down as we fade out to commercial.

2023.06.02 04:45 Gameran Dexter Flux Presents: Sound-Off! - Part One
Previously unannounced press conference, May 31, 2023.
Cameras are rolling as the owner of Mann Corporation, Shay D. Mann, hair in a perfectly put-together part, adorned in a navy suit and white tie, steps forward to a podium, in front of a WiR backdrop, microphone in hand.
Mann: My name is Shay Duncan Mann. And I am the new owner and proprietor of Wrestling is Reddit. I can assure you that your beloved Allen Paisner will be returning in the future, however, he could not make tonight's show due to some…
Mann smirks.
Mann: Legal complications. But fear not, I’ll be taking his place in the booth tonight.
The crowd erupts with applause and cheers, eager to witness the rebirth of their beloved wrestling promotion, even without Paisner for the evening.
Mann: Tonight, we embark on an exhilarating journey, as WiR takes a bold leap forward. I stand before you not just as the owner, but as a “fan”—a fan who understands the passion and dedication that this community shares for the world of wrestling.
Mann tries to hide a grimace as he proclaims his “fandom”. The crowd anticipates Mann’s next move
Mann: For too long, WiR has been dormant, unable to proceed, some of the talent trapped in Europe with no way home. But this, is no more! Today, we resurrect the spirit of WiR, bringing it back to life with a bang! And what better way to open things up by “Sounding Off"! Presented by the one and only, Dexter Flux
The crowd gives an actual cheer with genuine enthusiasm at the mention of Flux, their sort of god-king.
Mann: "Sound Off" isn't just a name; it's a rallying cry! It's a call for all of you, the WiR faithful, to voice your opinions, to express your passion, and to join us in this incredible journey. This event will be a celebration of everything that makes WiR special—the wrestling, the community, and the shared experiences that bring us all together.
The press conference crowd, whose papering becomes increasingly obvious the more Mann talks, is enthusiastic, as they eagerly hang onto Shay D. Mann's every word, perhaps a little too eagerly.
Mann: Tonight, in this very ring, our talented roster will ignite your imagination, deliver jaw-dropping performances, and create moments that will be etched in your memories forever. Sound Off! will leave you on the edge of your seats, craving for more.
The crowd roars with the excitement of a hair dryer pop.
Mann: But this is not just a show; it's a community. Together, we'll embrace the highs and lows, the victories and defeats. We'll share our opinions, engage in spirited debates, and build something truly remarkable. WiR is your platform—your voice will be heard!
The crowd erupts once again, their cheers echoing through the arena, showcasing their dedication to WiR, or getting paid to be there Mann: So, my friends, get ready to immerse yourselves in the magic of WiR once again. Open your hearts, open your minds, and let the exhilaration of "Sound Off" wash over you! Tonight, we begin a new era—one that will redefine the landscape of this sport. Welcome back to WiR, my friends. Because Wrestling… is Revived.
With a sly smile, Shay D. Mann raises his microphone high, signaling the start of the show, as things fade to a video of Dexter Flux. His face is slightly out of frame as the camera points to his chest and chin.
Crowd: YEEEEAAAHHHHHH WE LOVE FLUX! WE LOVE FLUX!
Flux: Hey, it’s me, Dexter Flux. Welcome, uh, welcome you know, back to wrestl- Ugh, sorry, something was like, in my throat. Wrestling is Reddit. Welcome back to Wrestling is Reddit. This is House Party.
Knott's Berry Farm, June 1st, 2023.
With that rousing introduction, we now cut back to the day of, with a drone shot of the ring set up at Knott’s Berry Farm, fans on makeshift stands in the berry field, a parking lot and farmhouse off in the far distance, before [off brand royalty free music] begins to play!
Crowd: YEEEAAHHHH
Through the makeshift curtain,
Tony “The Milkman” Stevens appears, wearing a pair of off-blue tights with cow white print, a single blue elbow pad on the left side, with a pair of gloved hands- in which, he holds a pristine
white umbrella. The Milkman points his umbrella right down the lens of the camera…
Milkman: Good to be back, fellas, and good to see you, Mr. Cameraman! Been a while.
Mann: And here comes the Milkman, and a huge ovation from this crowd! But no Horde jacket with him!
Woodbridge: Or any jacket. But we’re in Anaheim, its hot out
Mann You’re right. But he did prepare for rain.
The Milkman hands off his umbrella to a fan at ringside, before sliding under the bottom rope, and ascending the left hard camera turnbuckle, firing up the crowd, before doing a backflip off the top rope, and into the ring!
Crowd: YEEAAAAHHHHHH
The Camera cuts back to the entranceway, as the music changes, to
Skillet Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOO
Jericho Styles appears on the ramp, adorned in an
Allen Iverson Nuggets Jersey. He blows off a fan’s high five attempt, before sliding into the ring and taking a position opposite of Stevens.
Babaganoush: WiR fans… welcome to Anaheim California, the beautiful Knotts Berry Farm! Welcome! To Sound Off! Presented by Dexter Flux.
Crowd: W-I-R! W-I-R! W-I-R! W-I-R!
Banaganoush: Our opening contest is scheduled for one fall to a finish. Introducing first, to my right… wrestling out San Jose California, weighing in at 217 pounds, Jericho… Styles!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOO
Babaganoush: And his opponent, to my left. Weighing in at 208 pounds…
Crowd begins to rise Babaganoush: Wrestling out of… Brooklyn, New York! Tony… “The Milkmaaannnnnnn” Stevens!
Crowd erupts into indiscriminate cheers DING DING DING The Milkman and Styles circle each other as the bell rings, before Styles takes the initiative with a lock up attempt, which he quickly transitions to a rear waist lock. Milkman thinks on his feet, and grabs the arm of Styles lifting it above his head, and turning to break the lock, before using it to get behind Jericho, who uses his size advantage to overpower Stevens and apply a hammerlock, using the position to turn Stevens around, and take him down to the mat with an arm drag, maintaining control of the arm, which he quickly leverages into a pinfall…
ONE Milkman gets his free shoulder up!
Crowd: Yay!
Woodbridge: JZ leveraging some technical skill here in the opening moments of this one, but can’t keep the Milkman down!
Mann: Only one count for Styles
Styles refuses to relinquish his grip on the arm, and as Stevens gets up, pushes him back into the corner before he can balance himself. Styles whips Stevens across the ring to the other corner, before charging in and being met with Milkman’s knee! Stevens capitalizes on his newly made opening by delivering a sharp kick to the chest of Styles, before whipping him against the ropes. Styles charges back, and tries to use his momentum to catch Stevens with a hip toss, but can only get Stevens a few inches of height off the ground before the Milkman lands on his feet, lifts and Styles up for an atomic drop, which forces him to let go of Stevens. With his arm now free, The Milkman plants himself, and delivers a [devastating lariat]. With what self-preservation he has left, Styles rolls to the outside, and onto the grass.
Woodbridge: And The Milkman just leveled Styles with that lariat!
Mann: Not something we’re quite used to seeing from Stevens, some hard strikes early in this one that really seemed to throw Styles off his game.
Styles pulls himself up by the barricade, to the direct ire of front-row fans who continue to heckle him. Back in the ring, Stevens throws himself off the far-end ropes, charges in for a dive… before Styles ducks down to avoid being hit. Stevens doesn’t change speed, and instead, throws himself between the ropes for a 6-1-9 that hits nothing but air, launching himself back into the ring, and landing on his feet. After this feat of dexterity, and with Styles on the ground outside, The Milkman takes a bow for his efforts.
Crowd: YEEEAAHHH!!
Four dues in front of the hard cam: WE LOVE MILK! WE LOVE MILK!
At a count of eight, Styles, returns to the ring, and the two wrestlers square off again. Styles gets the better of the two on the lockup, delivering a stomp to Stevens’ foot, before kneeling him in the stomach. Styles lifts Stevens up for a suplex, but Stevens shifts his weight and lands on his feet behind him! The Milkman attempts a German suplex, but Styles throws a firm elbow to the jaw and repositions behind Stevens for a German attempt of his own. Stevens gives Styles a receipt with a firm, calcium-hardened elbow of his own, before bounding over to the ropes, and attempting a lionsault to a standing Styles! Styles catches him, but Stevens slips free, pushes Styles into the corner, and he takes a chest-first bump. Stevens harnesses his agility once more to get into poison-rana position on the shoulders of Styles, but Styles uses one arm to flip Milkman off balance and send him tumbling to the ground. Quickly, Stevens attempts to transition to a sunset flip but has to abandon ship as Styles tries to poke him in the eyes, jamming his finger into the canvas as a result. Stevens uses the moment to leap up to Bret’s rope, turn around, and deliver a dropkick to Styles! Stevens then rolls to the apron, and pumps up the crowd with a wave of his hand…
Crowd: YEEEAAAHHH WOOO!!
Guy already 4 cheap beers in: I hate this Styles guy!
…and delivers another springboard dropkick, this one from the top rope! Stevens flexes for the crowd, before rolling into a cover…
ONE TWO Styles gets a shoulder up!
Mann: Does The Milkman seem a bit different to you, Woodbridge?
Woodbridge: Milkman definitely wants to show off early, he looks like he hasn’t lost a step!
Mann: Maybe even gained one, and it almost feels like he’s being a bit disrespectful of his opponent, don’t you think?
Woodbridge: And what are you insinuating?
Mann: Well, maybe performing in front of a WiR crowd again has him a little more amped than usual! Trying a lot of those high-risk maneuvers early- we’re only a few minutes into this one, folks!
After the Kickout, Stevens signals to the cheering crowd, runs off the ropes, and attempts a wheelbarrow bulldog, but as he pushes himself up, Styles swivels his hips, and Stevens face plants into the mat.
Mann: And Stevens’ showing off cost him there!
Styles knees Stevens in the stomach, before putting his head between the legs, and sets up for the Styles Clash! He can’t lock in Milkman’s arms, and Stevens uses them to push off the mat to sit up above Jericho! Stevens tries throwing a punch at Jericho’s head, but he pivots his plan, and adjusts to deliver a powerbomb! As he releases, Stevens adjusts his body and manages to mitigate some of the damage by landing awkwardly on the back foot, stumbling back into the ropes.
Mann: If Styles hit that, it could have spelled an early end for Stevens!
Stevens pulls himself back to his feet using the ropes and charges back in with a clothesline attempt, but Styles sees it coming, grabs the arm and uses it to shift the momentum, and lifts Stevens for a
tilt-a-whirl Backbreaker! Crowd: BOOOOOO
Mann: And Styles seems to be in control here.
Woodbridge: Stevens took some early momentum, but Styles has had a counter for everything Stevens has thrown at him.
Styles pulls Stevens up to his feet by the hair, before casually flipping one of Stevens’ arms over his shoulder for a uranage position before holding his arms out to the crowd!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOO
Styles smirks at the boos incoming, and throws Stevens with a t-bone suplex. Once Stevens is planted, Styles stomps the stomach to force him to sit up, before stretching the arms behind for a surfboard stretch!
Styles: I’m a technical wrestler now, assholes!
Mann: Styles slowing things down here, grounding the Milkman
Woodbridge: Not a bad strategy, we saw how The Milkman was in control with a faster pace!
One guy holding up a sign with Goku: WE-LOVE-GOKU! WE-LOVE-GOKU!
Everyone else in the crowd is deafeningly silent Styles: AND WHAT WOULD GOKU DO HERE, STUPID IDIOT?
Styles breaks his hold and approaches the hard camera ropes to yell at the fan more Styles: Dragon Ball is overrated trash!
Styles kicks Stevens back to the mat Styles That one was for you, fucking weeb!
As Stevens once again rises to his feet, Styles punches him and he falls back to the mat, just for Styles to pick him back up, and line up against the ropes, for an irish whip. As Stevens returns to sender, Styles throws him straight up in the air… and football punts him in the chest on the way down!
Styles: Hey weeb guy! This one’s for you too! I saw a Japanese dude do it once!
Styles lifts Stevens up, sets him up with the arms behind the back… and delivers a slow, sloppy [tiger driver], before placing a single foot on the chest, and flexing
ONE TWO Kickout!
Crowd: YEEEAAAHHHH
Woodbridge: Well, he didn’t quite get all of it.
Styles takes time to put Stevens in a Camel Clutch.
Mann: And it seems Styles didn’t want to get left out of showing off!
Woodbridge: Well, he certainly nailed Milkman with that kick, but the Tiger Driver left a lot to be desired.
Mann: Styles seems to have control of this match when it’s slowed down, wearing Stevens with this technical wrestling prowess.
Woodbridge, reaching under the desk for a paper bag: Everyone wants to be a hero in front of the first crowd in two years
Styles releases Stevens from the hold by battering him in the back of the head with a forearm, picking him up by the scruff, and bouncing him off the ropes for an Irish whip and hitting him with the kitchen sink! But Stevens wastes no motion, and grabs the leg, turning Styles over for a rollup!
ONE TWO THR- Kickout!
Crowd: BOOOOOO
Woodbridge: He almost got him with that rollup! From out of nowhere!
The Milkman tries to capitalize, but Styles returns the favor with a boot to the stomach.
Styles: I’ll show you to make a damn fool out of me!
Styles hoists Stevens up for a vertical suplex, before taking two steps and chucking him across the top rope! The Milkman bounces off the top rope, makes a deflating noise as the air is forced out of his lungs, and flops down to the floor outside!
Mann: Styles with some kind of inverted lawn-dart maneuver! Woodbridge, do you know what that’s called?
Woodbridge: Nope.
Crowd: BOOOOOO
Styles: Come on, milk boy, you have anything else for me?
Stevens crawls back into the ring, holding onto his ribs, before Styles once again kicks him in the stomach, and applies a chin lock in the ring.
Mann: Styles has found his target! If Stevens can’t breathe, he can’t fight!
Woodbridge: The young Styles showing some veteran instinct here, Mann, if Stevens has the wind knocked out of him, he can’t perform those high-flying moves he was nailing Styles with earlier!
Styles turns to the side, and locks Milkman in a body scissors, using his legs to apply pressure to the ribcage. Stevens tries to use his free legs to push both men closer to the ropes, but can only move them a few feet. Stevens smacks the mat with his free hand, and a guy in the crowd does it to the barricade. Stevens smacks the mat again, and a few more fans join in.
Crowd Smacking the barricade Stevens pushes towards the ropes again, making more progress. Styles sees this, and releases the hold, grabbing Stevens by the hair with one hand, tights in the other, and pulling him up to his feet.
Styles: You want the ropes so bad, here, have them!
Styles runs over to the ropes with the Milkman, and hurls him between the middle and top rope, dumping him to the outside where he lands with a noticeable thud. Styles follows him to the outside, taking his time to savor the boos of the crowd, before delivering a knee to a rising Milkman, and lifting him for a vertical suplex on the grass! Styles rolls into the ring… and back out again to break the count. Despite the present beating, Stevens once again pulls himself to his feet.
Crowd: YEAAAH
And Styles knees him in the ribs.
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOO
Styles rolls Stevens back into the ring before taking a moment to confront the drunk fan who jeered him earlier. After his verbal exchange, Styles delivers a scoop slam to Stevens to keep him down, and the pressure on the body, before sliding into a cover.
ONE TWO Kickout!
Mann: Forcing Stevens to exert more energy there on the kick out, after continuing his assault on the ribs. A very solid strategy by Styles in this one.
Styles picks The Milkman up once more and prepares another vertical suplex, but the Milkman slips free! Stevens lands behind Styles, hooks his arms, and goes for a crucifix pin!
ONE TWO THRE- Styles barely escapes! The Milkman wastes no motion as Styles rises back to his feet, bouncing off the hard camera ropes, and forcing Styles to drop back to the mat to avoid a strike. Stevens bounces off the opposite end, and Styles barely avoids him once more, this time with a slide-step that sees him almost lose his balance. Styles tries to save his momentum by charging at Stevens as he bounces off the ropes a third time, but Stevens pulls down the top rope, sending Styles to the apron! Stevens kicks Styles in the knee, before going through the middle rope to meet Styles on the apron. Styles tries to sweep out the leg of the Milkman, knocking himself down to one knee on the attempt, but Stevens jumps over it, and catches Styles with a
Calcium Kiss Superkick that sends Styles to the grass below!
Crowd: YEAAAHH
With his foe grounded, Stevens looks to the crowd, positions himself in the middle of the ring, and before Styles can discover where he is, Stevens takes flight, springboarding off the middle rope with an
Asai Milksault! On the landing, Stevens’ left knee awkwardly hits the uneven yard, and he visibly grimaces before falling backward.
Mann: And both men are down after that! Stevens with a ferocious comeback attempt, but he may have hurt himself!
Woodbridge: Someone hasn’t been taking care of their lawn.
Stevens hears the air exit the crowd, and pulls himself up, giving them a reassuring thumbs up, before using the leg he landed on to kick Styles in the back of his knee, before throwing him back into the ring. Stevens puts one leg into the ring through the middle rope, before looking into the crowd- and deciding to ascend the turnbuckles instead! The Milkman leaps, and delivers a
diving hurricanrana! As Styles tries to roll to the ropes, Stevens uses their good leg to stomp on his chest, before pulling him back to the middle of the ring, and hitting a
Standing Milksault! Stevens maintains the cover!
ONE TWO THR- Styles gets a shoulder up!
Woodbridge: And Stevens throwing everything into this assault on Styles, but it still wasn’t enough to put him down!
Crowd: Let’s Go Milk-man! Let’s Go Milk-man!
Stevens picks Styles up, and lifts him onto his shoulders…
Woodbridge: He’s going for the Milky Way!
…But the injured knee can’t hold up the weight, and both men crash to the mat.
Entrance Music begins to play as a small, skinny wrestler in a leather jacket waltzes towards the two downed competitors Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mann: And that’s Raven Van Loupe! Van Loupe is here at Sound Off!
Woodbridge: These two formed an alliance last time we saw them! But will it hold after the time off?
Van Loupe enters the ring, despite the protests of WiR official Tai Ni Wong, and glances at the pair as both try to pull themselves up, Stevens using the ropes, Styles on his own. Van Loupe looks back and forth… before kicking Stevens in the injured knee!
DING DING DING Babaganoush: And here is your winner…
Van Loupe helps Styles to his feet, and the pair begin to lay the boots on Stevens.
Babaganoush: By disqualification as a result of interference, and striking a WiR official…
Styles takes the knee of the downed Milkman, and lifts it above his head, before thrashing it against the canvas.
Babaganoush: At a time of…
Van Loupe has Styles lift Stevens by the hair once more, before
she runs to the ropes, jumps off the second rope, and Styles pushes The Milkman into the cutter.
Babaganoush: Ten minutes and twenty-three seconds…
Styles and Van Loupe stand over Stevens, and Styles prepares to deliver the finishing blow as he signals to the crowd that he is looking for the Styles Clash!
Banaganoush: Tony “The Milkmannnnnn” Stevens!!!!!!
Van Loupe: Are you done?
Van Loupe gives Styles a thumbs up, but as he goes to finish off Stevens, a mighty howl plays over the speakers as a short, scruffy man runs to the ring.
Woodbridge: That’s The Werewolf!
Mann Johnny, A Werewolf, is here! And he’s rushing to the ring!
Styles lets Stevens flop back down to the mat, holding his knee, and turns to face the incoming Werewolf as he slides under the ropes and into the ring. Styles steps before Vna Loupe to intercept, but the fresh Werewolf knocks him off his feet with
The Pounce. The Werewolf comes face to face with Van Loupe in the center of the ring!
Crowd: AWOOOOOO
Mann: Pandemonium has broken out in the first match of Sound Off! And the fans are loving it!
Crowd: WE LOVE WERE-WOLF!
clap clap clap clap clap WE LOVE WERE-WOLF!
Woodbridge: The Pack Wolf and the Werewolf facing off in the center of the ring!
Mann: And these two have unfinished business! The Lifeblood exists because they took issue with being left behind for signings like Werewolf!
Johnny feints left, before throwing a right jab! The Werewolf unleashes Pack Tactics on Van Loupe! As he stops throwing punches, and signals for another pounce, Styles kips up, and levels the werewolf with a lariat!
Crowd: BOOOOO
Van Loupe and Styles begin to wear down the Werewolf, delivering blow after blow to Johnny as the boos rain from the crowd. Van Loupe delivers a stomp to the knee of The Milkman to keep him down before they and Jericho set up to finish off styles…
When an Italian Flag appears on the video screen, and an absolute guido of an Italian-American, hair dripping with greaseslowly walks out from behind the curtain, wearing a Shohei Ohtani jersey!
…A Shohei Ohtani… New York Mets jersey.
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mann: That’s The Apex! Arturo Stiglione! Stiglione is in the yard!
Stiglione slowly scopes out the scene on his way to the ring, seeing the downed Milkman on the left of the ring, the downed werewolf on the right, and the standing Lifeblood members in the middle. He slowly ascends the stairs and stands across from Van Loupe and Styles.
Wodbridge: And The Apex, not a fan of Johnny, a very terse relationship between these two.
Apex: Hell ova job ya done hea’
Van Loupe: If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stand aside, and maybe we won’t hurt you.
Apex: Dont’cha mind me, just monitoring the situation.
Styles pulls Van Loupe aside, and the two have an impromptu conference, before nodding along, and continuing their attack on Werewolf.
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
With The Lifeblood’s backs turned Styles looks down at his fist. He looks down at the blue and orange he’s adorned in, and loosens up his arm. He points to the back of Styles, who senses the crowd rising, and turns around… to be met with a spinning backfist!!
Crowd: YEEEAAAHHHH
Mann: Styles has made his choice! And he chooses to stand against The Lifeblood!
Van Loupe hears his body hit the canvas, and turns around, to be met with the sight of a downed Styles! The Apex takes off his Mets jersey… to reveal an
Angels jersey! The Werewolf is back on his feet, and he and the Apex come face to face! Van Loupe rises back up at the wrong time, as the two share a nod, and deliver a double clothesline! Seeing the situation turn against him, Styles slinks to the outside, and grabs a chair from under the ring, before sneaking back in behind the Werewolf and Apex, who have turned to the hard camera. Styles raises the chair to strike…
...And gets blasted by a Calcium Kiss from The Milkman!
Crowd: WOOOOOO
The three faces are all back on their feet in the middle of the ring, standing tall! As the three begin to celebrate…
“It’s a Psychobilly Freakout! Mann: That’s the music of Mason Saunders! But where is he?
Saunders’ music plays, but the entranceway remains empty.
Woodbridge: He’s behind us, Mann! He just jumped the barricade!
Mann: But he’s outnumbered, Woodbridge, both his allies are down!
Undeterred by the numbers disadvantage, Saunders slides behind the faces, and as they recognize the trap, Saunders is already in the ring! The Werewolf approaches first and throws a jab that almost seems to bounce off the chin of Saunders. Saunders simply stares, and when the Werewolf tries a second one, Saunders swipes it aside with a tree trunk arm, before launching into action and dropping the Werewolf with a right hook, which catches the Werewolf cleanly on the jaw, who slumps backward onto the canvas. The Milkman tries to charge to his aid, but Saunders delivers a pump kick to put him back on the canvas. The Apex tries to make a move while Saunders’ back is turned facing Stevens, but he fails to do any damage and is swiftly thrown aside. Saunders drops the Milkman again, before turning around to face Apex… who turns around, and flees the ring as fast as possible!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mann: And Stiglione, getting out of dodge as soon as he can!
Woodbridge: And turning tail and running, Stiglione is out of here!
As Stiglione flees up the entranceway, the rest of the Lifeblood begins to pick themselves up. Saunders puts the Werewolf pack down on the canvas with a scoop powerslam, and boots him out of the ring. The Lifeblood stand united, and face the hard camera, Stiglione and Werewolf removed, and the Milkman down on the opposite end of the ring. JZ ascends to the second rope of the left turnbuckle, Van Loupe to the right, and the three all pose for the hard camera!
Mann: And the Lifeblood, although not victorious in the match, is victorious here in the aftermath!
Woodbridge: But wait, The Milkman is trying to get back up!
Mann: Stevens of course, left for the picking, as other members of The Horde are all the way on the other side of the Farm preparing for their match later!
Stevens struggles to pull himself up to his feet, knee buckling under him. Saunders perks up, and stops his pose. Stevens staggers to his feet, and before he can get very far, Saunders turns, and with blinding speed nails Stevens with a
disgusting lariat that nearly takes his head off!
Woodbridge: And the Milk has gone spoiled.
The Lifeblood circle the downed Milkman like vultures, and Van Loupe drops to one knee, and picks up the Milkman’s head by the hair! JZ gets down as well, and the two strike a pose, with Milkman’s body as the centerpiece!
Mann: A statement made, by the Lifeblood
Woodbridge: To me, Mann, it looks like the statement was made by Saunders, Van Loupe, and JZ just picked up the scraps!
Van Loupe, holding up Milkman to the Camera victoriously: Take a look, WiR, this is the future! We are the Lifeblood of this company, and don’t forget that!
The camera pans out to JZ and Van Loupe celebrating over Milkman’s body, while Saunders stares from behind, before fading out to a commercial break. Javier: The following contest is scheduled for ONE FALL, with a 20 minute time limit. Your referee for this contest is Mia So Hung. Introducing first, from Montreal, Canada, weighing in at 119 pounds...... GIGI♥ V!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
A significantly smaller but incredibly loud section of the crowd: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Music begins to swell in the background, and the crowd continues their jeering (and occasional unbridled simping) until Gigi steps out, running her hands down her body to the lewd Ashnikko verse.
Mann: Gigi here, surrounded by her legion of fans, who are then surrounded by a legion of people who absolutely despise her. As it should be here in WiR.
Gigi saunters to the ring, taking vaguely suggestive selfies with her ravenous fans on the front row, and generally seeming uncaring about the forthcoming match.
Woodbridge: And given her successes recently, it’s gonna be easy to overlook a competitor like Li Xiao, which very easily could prove fatal.
Gigi steps into the ring, as Javier starts his announcing again.
Javier: And her opponent, from Hong Kong, weighing in at 105 pounds... LI XIAO!!!
A unfamiliar metal song blasts out from the speakers, and a rather familiar hyperactive martial artist bounces out from behind the curtain!
Crowd: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Xiao charges down the ramp with a head of steam, hyped and ready to fight.
Mann: Xiao has some of the most devastating offense in this company, and if she’s able to keep momentum, it could very well shatter Gigi’s plans of making a statement here!
Woodbridge: Yeah, sure, but Xiao’s a tag team specialist first and foremost. She comes in to deal damage and then gets out before she takes too much abuse.
Xiao hops into the ring, and the referee pats both competitors down, before gesturing for the bell.
DING DING DING In an interesting turn of events, Gigi and Li Xiao start off with a collar-and-elbow tie up in the center of the ring. Gigi takes quick advantage of her height and weight advantage to gain leverage and force Li Xiao backwards into the ropes.
Mann: Gigi starting off with the basics here, knowing Li Xiao is nothing if not an incredibly explosive fighter.
Woodbridge: That’s right, Xiao wrestles like my grandpa used to make moonshine, god rest his soul!
Gigi sets herself, and when Xiao tries to push off the ropes and get Gigi off, Gigi directs the momentum into a modified biel, throwing Li Xiao across the ring! Gigi takes a moment to smirk and pose for the fans - a mistake, as Xiao rolls through the throw and hits the ropes on the opposite side of the ring!
Mann: Incredible strength from Gigi!
Gigi turns around into a sprinting palm strike from Xiao, staggering backwards into the ropes yet again, and Xiao follows up with a big kick to the gut! Gigi’s doubled over, and Xiao drops her with a DDT!
Woodbridge: Xiao’s fired up, and she’s quite possibly looking to end this match before it even gets started!
Xiao with the cover!
1! 2! Gigi kicks out right at 2, and rolls up, obviously shocked and dazed. The crowd in attendance is split, with the wrestling fans excited to see Gigi on the ropes, and the Gigi fans absolutely in shambles. Xiao is up quickly, as Gigi staggers to her feet - Xiao hits the ropes, springboards, and catches Gigi with a beautiful headscissors!
Crowd: WOOOOOO!
Gigi rolls through, runs the ropes, and comes back with a head of steam! Xiao dodges a clothesline attempt, shoves Gigi to the other rope, and gets ready for the comeback - Gigi catches the ropes! Xiao charges in to press the advantage, and eats an officially branded Gigi♥ boot to the face! Xiao is absolutely rocked, staggering backwards, and this time Gigi takes the initiative and absolutely levels Xiao with a clothesline! Xiao spirals to the mat, and Gigi blows a kiss to the fans in attendance!
Gigi: I am your future champion, and this is the match I’m booked in?
Gigi catches Xiao with a boot to the back of the head! Xiao rolls over, and Gigi drops a knee onto her throat, before going for the cover!
1! 2! Xiao muscles out of the pin, clutching her head!
Woodbridge: We got two high fliers here, these women make a livin’ out of dodging attacks. Anything that lands here is going to be devastating!
Mann: And right now, it looks like Xiao is barely conscious after those blows to the head!
Gigi gets up, and winks at her fans in attendance and watching live throughout the world.
Crowd: BOOOOOO!/
YAAAAAAAAAAY! Gigi saunters over to Xiao, and plays up the boot she’s about to give - SMALL PACKAGE! SMALL PACKAGE!
1! 2! Gigi kicks out, and her mood instantly changes. Xiao is staggering to her feet, and takes a full on slap to the face!
Crowd: OOOOOOOOOH!
Mann: What a slap from Gigi, obviously assisted by her official Gigi♥ gloves, sponsored by Fairtex!
Woodbridge: Gigi’s
pissed now, and you could hear that slap all the way in Los Angeles!
Xiao clutches her face, and Gigi follows up with a huge kick to the gut! Xiao falls to one knee, and Gigi finishes the trifecta with a roundhouse to the head!
Crowd: OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!
Xiao collapses to the mat!
Mann: And Xiao’s down! What a kick!
Woodbridge: That kick nearly took her head off, Shay! I don’t know if she’s even conscious down there!
Gigi’s prepared, and is looking to finish this, climbing to the top rope! Xiao is flat on her back on the mat, and Gigi takes the leap, flipping forwards with a swanton! Xiao is still conscious, though, and rolls away in the nick of time, leaving Gigi high and dry!
Crowd: YAAAAAAY! KUNG PAO! KUNG PAO! KUNG PAO!
Mann: I... feel like that’s problematic, somehow.
Woodbridge: Nah, ‘sfine, don’t worry about it.
Xiao grabs for the ropes, pulling herself to her feet, but is obviously still dazed from the kick!
Woodbridge: Xiao’s hurt!
Mann: You see this a lot in Li Xiao singles matches - she’s got an incredible offense, but she’s fragile at best in-ring!
Gigi is holding her back, and glares at Xiao in frustration!
Gigi: You were supposed to
stay down! it was going on Tiktok!
Gigi charges forward, ready to avenge her mistake, but takes a knee to the gut! Gigi staggers for a second, only to get a chop to the neck! She’s reeling! Xiao with a forearm! Xiao with a elbow strike!
Crowd: OHHHHHHHHHH!
Xiao takes a step backwards, and lets out a KIAI, before charging forward with a roundhouse - NO! SCHOOLBOY FROM GIGI!
1! 2! Xiao kicks out at 2.6, rolls to her feet, and is immediately back on the offensive, catching Gigi with a kick to the gut!
Mann: Xiao was going for her trademark flurry of blows, and that roundhouse could very well have ended this match!
Woodbridge: Sure, but it doesn’t look like Gigi’s in a better spot right now anyway!
Xiao measures, as Gigi slowly gets back to her feet, and steps through the ropes, stalking her opponent! Gigi’s up, and Xiao leaps onto the ropes, going for a springboard -
GIGI HOOKS HER LEG! Crowd: BOOOOO!
Xiao loses her footing, and falls neck-first onto the ropes, before collapsing to the outside of the ring!
Mann: Gigi with a lightning-quick reversal!
Woodbridge: Xiao might be seriously hurt down there!
Gigi regains some of her confidence, and gives the crowd an innocent smile, completely ignoring the competitor she might have seriously injured. As the count reaches six, Gigi finally springs into action, rolling out of the ring, and grabbing Xiao by the hair!
Gigi: That’s what you get for ruining my moment!
Gigi pulls Xiao up to her feet, and throws her into the ring. Gigi rolls in as Xiao fights to one knee, then to her feet! Gigi smirks, and stands in front of Xiao, posing for the crowd -
WHAM! Xiao with a JKD backfist!
Woodbridge: River City Knockout! That’s Biff’s move! What a moment to strike!
Gigi is staggered - falls to one knee - then gets back up, just in time to eat
THE CRANE KICK Crowd: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Woodbridge: CRANE KICK! CRANE KICK!
Gigi is down! Xiao is staggering after landing the crane kick, and collapses to a knee herself! Xiao takes a moment to collect herself, then throws herself into the cover, hooking both legs!
1! 2! 3! NO! Mia hits the three count, and Xiao rolls off, sure she’s won the match, but Gigi’s right hand is on the ropes!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mia explains to Xiao, who is
obviously frustrated, but nods. She takes a moment to kick Gigi’s wrist, knocking her hand off the ropes, before climbing to the top rope! Xiao steels herself - leaps -
corkscrews through the air! Woodbridge: Xiao’s Wing!
Gigi gets her knees up! Xiao lands back-first onto Gigi’s knees! Xiao bounces halfway across the ring, clutching her back and neck, and lands on her chest!
Crowd: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mann: And Gigi has just enough in the tank to get that counter in!
Gigi, with what seems like massive effort, rolls over, before crawling towards Xiao, who seems to be completely out of it. She crawls over Xiao, with a knowing smirk,
before hooking her legs around Xiao’s head! Mann: Gigi looking for the Paywall, this modified figure four choke!
Woodbridge: And half the audience is looking at something else right now.
Gigi torques Xiao’s already injured neck back, cutting off all airflow! Xiao struggles for a moment, but is trapped in the center of the ring! She crawls forward, but Gigi leans back, torquing her neck even further! Xiao swings back with an elbow, then another, but her arm is caught by Gigi’s free hand! After a moment of struggling, Xiao finally relents, and taps in the center of the ring!
DING DING DING! Javier: And your winner, at a time of 7:53.... GIGI!
Gigi rolls out of the ring, obviously the worse for wear, clutching her neck after the crane kick to the skull!
Mann: And Gigi with a hard-fought win after these two threw everything at each other in a absolutely brutal short match!
Woodbridge: Xiao’s not a singles competitor on her own, but she showed just how brutal her brand of offense is when it needs to be - if Biff has the same resilience he used to have the tag division might need to be on notice!

2023.06.02 04:15 shitsniffer712 A whole bunch of random FNaF headcanons I have
(This'll probably mostly be about 1 and 2, with some 3 and 4 mixed in maybe)
• The buildings in 1 and 2 both used to be something else before they were Freddy's, which could explain the strange architecture.
• Some of Foxy's rips and tears came from his hook, while others came from obnoxious kids attacking him.
• The Show Stage also uses purple curtains similar to Pirate Cove
• The FNaF 1 location has a small arcade off to the side in the dining area, and the darkness prevents you from seeing it. The carousel seen in FNaF 2 is also there and goes off at night sometimes, whether it's ghosts or just shoddy manufacturing.
• When not killing you, Golden Freddy chills in various places you can't see on the camera map, like storage rooms or the Safe Room.
• Pirate Cove has a moon on its stage background to go with the Show Stage's sun.
• Both Freddy's locations we see have a drawing table somewhere off-camera, which has paper and crayons for kids to draw pictures.
• Freddy’s Toreador song and light-up effect were programmed for the case of the power going out at the restaurant, using a light sensor to see if it was darker than usual. The idea was that the song would comfort scared children. Instead, it usually had the opposite effect (but of course the company didn’t care)
• FNaF 1 has vents, but they're too small for the animatronics to fit in this time. (Bonnie just learned some stuff from Golden Freddy probably and can break the laws of physics)
• The camera maps are slightly inaccurate and there are some other rooms they don't show, such as storage rooms, control rooms, managers office etc.
• The space between the dining room, halls, and office in FNaF 1 is both the prize area and a storage room. The storage room is behind the prize area.
• In universe, the FNaF 1 Freddy’s is the most well-known version of the restaurant because it was open the longest. (1988-1993 or whenever depending on what timeline/au)
• In FNaF 1, we are at the final operating Freddy’s location. (probably canon but idk if it's confirmed) It was a small chain beforehand which was local to Utah/wherever. The pre-withered location was a standalone place, and the Toy location was planned to be a chain at some point (obviously this did not go through)
• When making the Toy location, Fazbear Ent. wanted to promote the arcade/video games more, so they made Toy Freddy love them.
• The Toys could only roam around one at a time during the day. One would go off stage, one would "sleep" or turn off for a bit to conserve energy, and one would stay on scanning the room for any danger.
• In universe, there is more corporate training/testing footage of the Toy animatronics available on the internet than home footage of them in action at the store. This was because Fazbear Ent. spent so much time and money preparing for their arrival while the actual location was open for so little. The training videos were saved and uploaded by former employees/technicians.
• Withered Freddy is the least damaged because the guys tearing them apart felt too guilty to rip up the main mascot. (But not the others apparently)
• Toy Chica's beak was made removable so technicians could reach her jaw/endo head better in case it needed fixing.
• FNaF 2's kitchen is located between the dining room and Party Room 4 (god i had to look up the party rooms to remember which one) and has an entrance under the Main Hall camera that we can't see. Again, the camera maps are slightly inaccurate.
• FNaF 1's entrance is located between the stage and restrooms, while FNaF 2's is located on the side wall past the Prize Corner
• Kids' Cove was the "toddler zone" of Freddy's
• The posters of Freddy, Bonnie and Chica in FNaF 3 (the ones going ":D") came from the original Freddy's where the pre-withereds were.
• Withered Foxy had long pants while Classic Foxy had shorts.
• The Toy animatronics were based on a weird figure set of the Freddy's gang from the early 80s (the ones we see in FNaF 4) The Mangle toy is a mini test animatronic Elizabeth got her hands on and destroyed for some reason
• Balloon Boy and The Puppet were based on pre-existing Freddy's (possibly Fredbear's) characters. They didn't return in the FNaF 1 building due to budget cuts (though puppet probably hangs around there anyway)
• The FNaF 2 building still exists and is used today. It's some random store now
• When it first opened, Fredbear's Family Diner originally had an "old fashioned" theme. Fredbear wore brown accessories, and Spring Bonnie only had a button on his chest. Sometime a few years later, there was a remodel where the place got a new, more colorful theme. Fredbear and Spring Bonnie were given new purple accessories.
• Fredbear's had a couple early arcade games off to the side, while the later Freddy's locations had more fleshed out arcade sections.
• There were multiple sets of Fredbear and Spring Bonnie made. They looked so much different from each other because Henry + William were always trying to come up with better ideas for their designs and could never settle on one.
• Henry voiced Fredbear, while William voiced Spring Bonnie. Fredbear was given a deep, friendly voice while Spring Bonnie had a snappy yet nice sounding one.
All I could think of for now. I've been back on a FNaF kick for the past few days so I decided to share them. I might post again or edit this if I think of more.
Also, I now realize that a lot of these are about the buildings themselves lol. I guess I'm just really into developing settings
(Also sorry if any of these contradict any lore. Its been a while and I stopped following the lore years ago. Also this was much longer than I expected it to be…)

2023.06.02 04:06 duellingislands 4:51 EEST; The Sun is Rising Over Kyiv on the 464th Day of the Full-Scale Invasion. Today's subject is Radomyshl Castle! Well, it's more of a grand old paper mill but it has a literary history that goes back to the early 17th century. And today it's a gorgeous museum. + Discussion + Charities
| 🇺🇦 Слава Україні! 🇺🇦 _______________________________ Radomyshl Castle Radomyshl Castle Radomyshl Castle is not quite a castle - but in its current form it is a really beautiful old flour mill. While this flour mill is gorgeous, and a great home for the current exhibits (more on that later), the site actually used to be a far older mill - one for paper. The paper mill was first built in the early 17th century (1612 to be precise), established by luminaries of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra in order to provide paper for all their writings; they enjoyed what was essentially a monopoly on paper printing in Ukraine for a long, long time. This picture is so cozy. This means of course that many of the works of the Ukrainian cultural elite from that time on, for centuries, were printed on paper that was made at the mill. For instance, the first dictionary of the Ukrainian language was printed on its paper. The first page of the first Ukrainian dictionary, 1627. Their cultural impact is hard to put into a simple Reddit post - as an example, many of the founders of the mill project were involved in the creation of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The paper they created was made of flax, nettle and hemp, and had a light gray color; it was very strong. Paper from Radomyshl is easy to recognize by researchers today due to its four distinctive types of watermarks. Before long after its creation, a village arose around the paper factory which became known as Papirnya ("Papertown"). It existed until the 1960s, when it was absorbed into nearby Radomyshl. Eco-park at the mill. _______________________________ Icons A nice old stairwell. With icons, of course. Recently, the mill has been converted into quite the complex - a high-quality Museum of Ukrainian Household Icons that is considered the largest of its kind in the world. Even if you're not religious or a Christian, you have to admit these are some really pretty little paintings! Wall to wall! The museum is the brainchild of prominent Ukrainian political and social activist Olha Bohomolets. She seeded the museum's collection with 5,000 pieces from her own icon collection. Some of the pieces date back to the 12th century. The museum also has a collection of icons that have been defaced and almost been destroyed by the policies of the soviets - you can see slashed, burned and degraded icons that were saved and hidden away until Ukraine regained her independence. I love old beams! And rushnyky! I like that tiny statue, I want to pick it up. Reminder to self: Don't pick up objects in museums, you're better than that. Closeup of a domestic icon at the museum. The museum also features a big collection of intricately decorated antique chests (which we will write about soon) along with areas for master classes on paper making and printing. Paper making workshop Old print shop Chiaroscuro. It's also worth mentioning that a portion of the mill has been converted into a nice hotel and concert venue, and the grounds have been made into a delightful and peaceful eco-park. Stop by on your road trip! _______________________________ The 464th day of a nine year invasion that has been going on for centuries. I initially went for a radical reduction and I think all said and done my chest looks pretty much flat, with a bit of leftover that satisfies my body type. I still have dysphoric moments and days, but having no chest dysphoria is a huge win. 2023.06.02 03:43 The_Alloquist [A Lord of Death] - Chapter 51 (Efrain)
[←Chapter 50] [Cover Art] [My Links] [Index] [Discord] [Subreddit] [Chapter 52→] The first sensation that came to him was the gentle lapping of something cool around his legs. The feeling in question had an almost kindly character to it. He let that sensation carry him through the rivers of muddled consciousness, thought slowly emerging.
The first question was a pressing, if quite basic one.
Was he?
It dominated his mind, filling it to the brim as he asserted his existence. He certainly did exist, that he was fairly sure of - what was considering the question, if nothing indeed existed? So he must exist, but in exactly what mode or medium he wasn’t exactly sure. All he knew was of himself, drifting along a slurry of thought, with something cool lapping at his legs.
So, then if that question was, at least for the time being, answered, who was he?
He strained at the boundaries of his empty mind, and found nothing - no scrap nor iota of recollection or memory.
He gave up, and left himself to drift for an indeterminate time.
The third question, which he hoped might be a little easier to answer - where was he?
He opened something with effort, and something bright streamed in. ‘Eyes’. That’s what he had opened, and the streaming thing was ‘light’. It wasn’t the usual kind, at least he thought so, although he couldn’t exactly remember what the ‘usual’ kind was. It was soft, gentle, not so much ‘streaming’ in, but laid down on the surface of his vision like gossamer.
As his vision resolved, he became aware of what lay… in front of him? Above him? Directionality was a little fuzzy. What he did experience was blurred tones of orange, red, blue and dark purple, mixing together in splashes and strokes. The ultimate effect was something like a gradual gradient, with uncountable tiny dots letting forth that soft light.
Ah.
Starlight.
He was looking upwards then, with a sky full of stars and colour above. Again, there was that definite sense of the unusual, that this was not what skies were ‘supposed’ to look like. And again, he couldn’t quite remember what the ‘usual’ sky was to contrast. Something deep within told him that he’d seen many skies, or potentially the same sky many times, and it did not look like this.
His body, light as a feather, experienced no strain as he sat up. Once more, the unusual feeling, and once more, no usual feelings to compare it to. His legs were submerged into dark waters, which rose and fell around him slowly. Cool, but not painful or irritatingly cold, it stretched out with only the merest ripple into the horizon. Below him, yes it must have been ‘below’, was a fine black sand that gently sloped into the ocean.
So that was what was forward, now what about behind?
He turned something, his ‘head’ he seemed to recall, and found much of the same. Another sea, although this one was made out of the black sand instead of the black water. The dunes too stretched to the horizon and beyond, with the stars vanishing behind them.
So, where was he then? Evidently ‘here’, wherever here was. Now, he was certain that he’d been somewhere else before, but had no way of knowing where nor how long ago it’d been. Had he been ‘here’ before? Perhaps. There was a sense of familiarity to the place.
He stood with the merest effort, black grains cascading down to join their siblings. One foot after another sank into the damp sand and soon he’d left the imprint of his body long behind. The stars, nor the sea, nor the sand seemed to change character or position as he walked.
Onward. Onward. Onward, along what he thought was a straight line into the far distance.
It was some time later when he stopped to take a glance around, and found nothing behind him. Perhaps he’d barely moved at all, and the imprint had merely been washed away by the gentle waves, or perhaps it was too far into the distance to see. There was nothing before him either, merely the exact same sand, water, and stars. There was no lightening or darkening of the endless sky, no change in the positions of the constellations, merely the black desert, eternal for all he knew.
Perhaps no time had passed at all, and all the movement was merely inside his mind.
The water flowed over his feet as he walked at its edge, trying to discern matters of who, where, what, when, why? Perhaps he was nobody, perhaps this place was nowhere, and perhaps there was no real reason to be here other than… being here. It was all rather confusing and any time he seemed to be getting close to an answer it stole away.
Ultimately, when all the questions were gone, there was only the walk, one step, two step, across the sand.
He tried to count the steps and got lost somewhere around fifty thousand. He tried to gauge whether he was ‘hungry’, or ‘tired’. Those were things, he thought he knew, that were supposed to happen after a while. If he was remembering correctly, such things seemed to have little sway here. Hence, time passed, for him if not the world, and he found himself walking onwards.
He seemed to remember a concept of ‘day’ and ‘night’, a brightening of the darkening used to tell time. But the light was always the same here, an ethereal twilight stuck between the two. There had been something else, however, that he was sure of, that indicated the passage of night and day.
It took him another couple thousand steps before he finally had it. Sun and Moon, that had been it, hadn’t it? They were… circular, that he was pretty sure of, and one had been warm, and the other cooler, and smaller. The moon was the former, and the sun was the latter, or maybe the other way around?
New thoughts shelved for the moment, he continued on his path to places unknown. It took his fancy to turn left and wander across the dunes with the ocean to his back. Up and down, up and down, he trudged across the hills and troughs of the dunes. Yet, when he glanced back from time to time, the ocean always seemed to be the same approximate distance. He kept at it for a while, trying to see if there was any indication of distance being gained.
It was a consummate failure. The sea was still there, its lapping waters calling to his back.
Once more, he found himself at that endless shore, and in the far distance, both touchable yet incomprehensibly distant, hung a pale circle.
‘Moon’.
He remembered that, at least.
The sea had changed, gone from bare ripples to a smooth mirror. The darkness underneath its surface had deepened, something stirring beneath. It was reaching for him, no longer be beckoning, with a hunger that belied its apparent calmness. The moon hung low to touch the sea and where they met, a black shadow pressed against the interstice.
From that shadow a voice ripped across the stilled waters, prying against his ears. The worlds were fashioned out of something sharper than any blade, darker than the night sky, peeling reality with harsh syllables.
“PAIN,” it said, over and over, a drum sounded out the beat of a wild and wounded heart.
The water had crept up around him while he stared, small waves brushing just below his knees. The shadow against the moon grew great and terrible, half submerged, half silhouette. The character of the thing was impossible to make out, with only the vaguest resemblance to a horrible flower. Elements of it unfolded like petals with a luminosity that shattered the twilight of the desert.
There was a gaze, or perhaps a multitudes of directed lines of intention that intersected solely on him. He was dissected, without consideration of dignity or privacy, everything perceived and understood. The waters before him parted, drawn back like bare cloth and he saw the true scale of the thing.
It underlay the bottom of the world, an incomprehensible mass of tangled roots and mad thoughts spreading through every deep place and high recess. All merged, all twisted with no end nor beginning, and deeper, deeper still, a baleful light shining as a furious star. It pummelled his perception, tore at what little memory or identity remained, coiling and snaking those hateful roots through his very soul.
He began to slip, pulled as inexorably as gravity pulled one downard without pity or reprieve. He was a grim prize, an unknowing creature that had walked into reach of the mind flower. The waters rising, he attempted to summon a pathetic protest, to deny the fate which had been chosen for him. Such defences were swept aside and crushed with unceremonious ease, as the waters rose, and rose, and rose. He felt the first touch of the thing, uncountable mental fingers groping, and having found their target within him, closing in an impossible grip.
The scream was high and hideous, an echo of a thousand languages calling out in incomprehensible fury. His own soul began to crackle in tandem with a pain so furious it drowned every other sensation. All of it, the scream, the water, the faint pressure of the moonlight, blurred into the chaotic static. A rent in reality was beneath him, around him, the beach vanishing into the distance. He was falling into a void, where nothing and no one could reach.
The dread certainty of utter destruction was upon him. Whatever impression he’d left upon existence would be washed away, mere grains of sand drawn into the depths of the sea, never to be seen nor known by anyone nor anything.
But before that fate was sealed with oblivion, something pulsed out across the darkness. Something high and pure and beautiful where there was once only the corrupt horror of the flowering abomination.
He found himself curled up on the sand, staring out into a moonless sea.
It took him some time to remember who he was, or rather, the fact that he was, period. A sense of horror, pain, and a narrow escape from peril echoed in his head, though the detail was fuzzy. Clutching himself, and shivering despite the lack of chill, he lay on the sand for an indeterminate amount of time.
When he managed to pull himself up to his knees, he found that the scene had definitely changed. The dunes and stars were all the same, but what lay between them was entirely different. The empty air folded and swirled, little eddies and ripples and warps, turning the sand and waters into structure.
Climbing to his feet, he found that the distortions stretched out far into the distance, expanding and extending to greater heights and widths, increasing in complexity and detail. He was standing in a place, something definite and specific, built with purpose and intent.
He walked out into the warped location, clambering deeper and deeper into the distortions. He found that the shapes became more definite, and more obvious the further he went. There were flowers, yes, unmistakably flowers, of different shapes and sizes. A twisted lamppost without candle to light it, recalling other memories of warmth and lights. A rocky stream, complete with moss and lichens, so real he could almost hear the bubbling of non-existent waters.
The next dune brought more sights, trees and cobbles and blades of grass. The one after that, walls, both chest high and well above his head. It was building itself around him as he stepped over the sand, and when he crossed the last dune…
Promenades and boulevards, staircases and great lofts, immense windows and walls that looped and winded and reconnected with each other in ways that seemed impossible. Corridor after loft after wing after walkway, terraces and sloped beds and balconies and pillars. None with any colour or brightness of their own, but rather sculpted out of the stars and sand and sea.
Space itself had been folded, pinched, and pressed to create a masterwork of bizarre architecture. Between all of the structures, there were trees and flowers and lawns of both distantly familiar and absolutely alien character. It was a garden, a garden in a timeless place with no colour, yet substance.
A garden of glass.
He stepped on the transparent cobbles, and walked a zig-zagging path that turned into itself and out between an arch of a walkway. He was greeted with a small pool and the sound of falling water. He stooped and gathered a handful of a liquid that he couldn’t see, but could feel. Deep within, far larger than what should’ve fit through the portal, swam immense creatures. Coiling and folding in on themselves like the garden itself, they floated above what must’ve been an entire city, all sunk deep below the black sand.
He surveyed the series of bridges and districts that extended into the dark, before finding to his left another bench. This one had not been there before, and was now accompanied by an immaculate lamppost that emitted a not-light. From a spiralling post, there were hanging baskets of flowers with trailing vines that moved in a non-existent wind. He made his way over, and found that the bench held his weight without give.
An indeterminate amount of time was spent on trying to guess at the rhyme or reason behind the labyrinthine architecture. Eventually, he had to give up, the turns and twists impossible to follow for long. Perhaps it had not been designed at all, rather such complexity was some kind of inevitable law of this place.
There was something beside him on the bench.
He picked it up, taking more than a moment to recognize what it was, so different was it from the rest of the Garden. Solid, with a colour and texture all its own, a paper envelope, faded by age and dust, with a flaking red seal at its centre. A ‘letter’, alive and unsculpted unlike the garden, with its own sound and smell. He picked at the wax, and opened the letter with the satisfying rustle and scent of old, folding paper.
Then he departed from the grey half-life of the black beach, and found himself somewhere entirely different.
He was at a desk, his desk, a great behemoth of red-brown wood with a frankly ridiculous amount of drawers. Not that he could see much of them, with the sheer amount of parchment and books drowning the surface. He had a hand, one of warm flesh and blood, closed around an inkwell that was teetering dangerously over a fresh sheet.
He frowned at the sudden sense of displacement, sure that there was something wrong, but he wasn’t quite sure wha-
A knock at the door, hurried but strong, came to interrupt his thoughts. It was almost hidden behind one of the great red curtains arranged around the walls of the considerable room. Light bled through a handful of them, suggesting the presence of windows. Those walls that didn’t were furnished by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves stuffed to the gills. He quickly righted the inkwell, and gave some customary response while drying his hands with a cloth.
A voice, muffled by the wall, but still legible as a young woman’s, answered, and the door practically flew open. Into the room bursted a youth in the prime of adulthood, carrying a dusty grimoire. She paced toward the desk, and he suspected that she was barely holding herself from sprinting.
Before he could afford even a ‘good morning’, as was their custom, she slammed the book on his desk. This drew both an annoyed grunt and a reproachful look from him, which she responded to by nearly spilling an inkwell as she flipped open to a page. Words began to drift in and out of perspective, too blurry to make out. Clearly she was excited about something - well of course, she was always excited about something or other.
Wait, how did he know that?
How did he know her? He definitely did.
He was about to reach out, to call out, to ask her name, who she was, who he was, before her final words came into sharp clarity.
“...and that’s only the beginning, professor Efrain!”
Efrain. Yes. Yes, that had been his name. In some other time, some other place.
‘Efrain’.
The vision was gone, and he was sitting on a bench made from black sand in a garden made from the world. Above him, between all the spires and walkways, a great thing floated. It looked almost like swirling scraps of cloth and paper, scrawled in ink and charcoal, with words and symbols from many different languages. They twisted and compressed into a sharp point beyond his eye’s sight, but which he was certain looked at him.
He wasn’t pulled, that would imply that some kind of force was exerted upon him. Rather, the scene shifted and moved so that he was closer to the mass of turning lexicons.
“You do not belong here,” came a voice, authoritative and cold.
The garden, the beach, the stars and sand, all vanished upwards as he tumbled, deeper and deeper. Out of space and memory and time he fell into a warm current which carried him away back to a different consciousness altogether.

2023.06.02 03:31 Soanart Can anyone tell me how to safely change what farm I'm on in SVE?
I followed the directions laid out by the Stardew Valley Wiki, but the farm map is completely messed up. I don't just mean all the items/chests/farm buildings, there's just straight up no exit to the bus stop. I found a way to the backwoods and tried to enter my farm from the bus stop but one entrance drops me in the middle of the farm, and the other, while it does show me how I'm supposed to reach the bus stop from my farm, doesn't work as an exit from my farm either as I see the bus stop for a half second before getting warped back to the middle of my farm.
I'm playing on the SVE 'Grandpa's Farm' map, but I'm pretty tired of it and I'm >200 hours in. Looking at everything, I'm pretty sure the problem, at least in part, is caused by how the 'Grandpa's Farm' map connects to the bust stop with two separate entrances/exits. It also likely doesn't help that there are specific locations like grandpa's shed and the area just east of it other maps don't have a 1 to 1 for.
I'm also unable to enter my farmhouse on the new layout, and I'm pretty sure it's because that's not where the actual farmhouse is (it's clipped into a cliff).
The farm map I would like to use now is the Waterfall Forrest Farm (
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8913).
If anyone can help me change farms, I'd be quite grateful.
Edit: Here's my latest SMAPI log-

2023.06.02 02:58 everygoodnamegone Am I legally required to pay for summer camp enrollment if the charge never went through and I want to back out?
I submitted paperwork to enroll my children in a 1-week sleepaway summer camp out of state. A non-profit organization runs the summer camp annually but it is located at a third-party dedicated camp facility (similar to YMCA campgrounds.) My teens have never attended this camp before and are in the upper age range of accepted campers.
The paperwork I signed has space for credit card information, and the line underneath it reads, "There are NO refunds after (date)." I submitted the paperwork via email after the specified no-refund date. I only included half of my debit card number on the form because sending that kind of information online is not secure.
I sent the remaining half of the card number from my phone via text message. After submitting the paperwork, I received an email with some surprising and very strict camp rules that I am not a fan of, particularly the "absolutely no cell phones allowed whatsoever during camp." Further details say that mp3 players, kindles, etc. are prohibited, as well. My daughter has ADHD, and when she needs downtime, she will use her Kindle or phone to unwind or listen to music at night to help her fall asleep. Taking away her coping mechanisms while in an unfamiliar place is setting her up for disaster. The paper also says that if kids have them, their parents will be called to pick them up immediately, and their time at camp is over.
There are also very specific rules regarding food. My daughter is a picky eater and the summer camp we sent her to last year had no issues with bringing electronics or snacks. I never dreamed it would be a concern to send her with cliff bars and such. This camp says absolutely no outside food is permitted due to attracting insects in the cabins. After reading all the information, I realized this camp would be a terrible fit but none of this was shared on the public website. If this had been disclosed upfront, I never would have sought to enroll them.
I was notified via email a few days later that my card did not process correctly, and I was never actually charged the fees. They waited a while to charge the card, and in the meantime, I had an issue with my bank. A new debit card is coming in the mail, but now I don't want to hand these people $2,000 and a backup credit card number. What I want to do is call the airline and cancel our flights in exchange for a future travel credit. I want to reiterate that the camp NEEDS to include these strict rules upfront on its website so parents are fully informed before agreeing to enroll their kids-- parents have a right to know what they are agreeing to.
The fact that I cannot check in with my kids daily, especially being so far from home surrounded by strangers, does not sit well with me. Even more so on account of my daughter being neurodiverse. The paperwork states no refunds, but technically I am not asking for a refund because the charge never went through. I told them so much via email, and they basically said it was too late to cancel because they had to give a head count to the camp facility. Regardless of what THEY told the facility, MY transaction was never actually completed. They are a non-profit and I don't want to stick them with the bill, but why the heck would they commit to these two spaces for my kids before the transaction was finalized? That is terrible business practice.
I never even thought about it until now, but I have no idea if the staff and/or volunteers running this camp have successfully passed a background check. Shame on me as a mom for not considering these things before and asking, but I just "assumed" everything would be safe and the rules would be reasonable.
No verbiage on the enrollment form says, "By signing this form, I promise to pay this fee" or anything of that nature. Literally, it is JUST a spot for a credit card number and "No refunds after X date." The rest is all medical history questions, medical release in case of emergency, etc.
Am I legally on the hook to pay for this camp I no longer feel comfortable sending my kids to? Can I be summoned to small claims court out of state, or can they report this on my credit report?Does a non-profit need a business license to "sell" camp enrollment fees to customers from out of state? Because I cannot find any business license under their name. Is there a law requiring summer camp staff and volunteers to have completed background checks on file and how can that be verified by a parent?
I don't want to be a jerk and leave them on the hook owing money to the facility, but full disclosure would have prevented ALL of this. I still haven't decided what I am going to do.TLDR; I submitted forms to enroll my kids in summer camp but the strict rules disclosed after the fact were a dealbreaker for me. My card was never charged due to a bank issue; do I legally owe these people money?

2023.06.02 02:47 kauan1983 The conspiracy lore and the dynamic between the government agencies in Stranger Things
| Something that i am extremely fascinated about in Stranger Things is the government conspiracy angle of the series, and over the seasons, i felt that the writing started to give us less details about how the government agencies work in this universe. Also, many details of the lore are still unresolved, and i fear some of them might not be resolved in S5, so I decided to make an analysis of everything that involves the government in the show to create my own version of the timeline of the events involving the U.S. government, and gather information to hypothesize events that may have happened offscreen, the occupations of some characters within the government and what agencies are involved with everything that has happened in the show since S1. I hope you guys enjoy the read! PROJECT MKULTRA - In 1953, The MKUltra program was officially sanctioned by the CIA, a multimillion-dollar initiative intended to develop mind control techniques. The experiments would be conducted in many hospitals, prisons and colleges across the U.S. Hawkins National Laboratory was one of many facilities in the U.S. where MKUltra was being conducted - Dr. Martin Brenner was the director of CIA operations at this laboratory. - MKUltra is a real CIA-sanctioned research that was officially halted in 1973. And it was the basis for a science-based horror in the show's lore. But the Duffers never wanted to really dive into it, as the story they wanted to tell was mainly inspired by the Montauk Project and would focus in children with super powers and other dimensions. There is a little talk about it in the official behind the scenes companion Worlds Turned Upside Down: I wouldn't say we had done necessarily a deep dive into it. It was more a surface glance of seeing what they were up to and then using it as an excuse to have science-based horror in our narrative. — Ross Duffer - The presence of the MKUltra in the lore is what canonically establishes the CIA as the bad men we see in S1 and briefly in S2. The agency is only mentioned once in the show when Hopper and Powell are investigating documents about the HNL/MKUltra, but we can confirm that the CIA was also responsible for funding Brenner's program as in the Worlds Turned Upside Down book we can see government cards with a "Central Intelligence Agency Clandestine Ops" badge in it. PROJECT INDIGO - Doctor Brenner's program. It's the main government project of Stranger Things, and although never mentioned in the show, the name of the program was supposed to be "INDIGO" which was also the proposed name of the show as stated by the Duffers in their MasterClass: So we just came up with a bunch of ideas. We had The Keep, we had INDIGO which was gonna be the name of the government program, and amidst that we had Stranger Things. — Ross Duffer It's unclear if the Duffers kept the name as it was never mentioned in the show, but the name is mentioned in the Suspicious Minds book, which was supervised by one of the show's writers - Paul Dichter. Project Indigo is basically the Hawkins equivalent of the Montauk Project. While the MKUltra was the Duffers' basis for a science-based horror in the lore, INDIGO is where the most crazy, cutting-edge developments in science come in. The Duffers had the desire to play with the "sandbox" of elements that the Montauk conspiracy could offer. In the conspiracy, there were talks about children with psychic/psionic powers (which became the Numbers 001 to 018), other dimensions (like the Upside Down, Dimension X and the Hellscape), alien contact, monsters being unleashed (Demogorgon/DX entities) and even time travel, which is something that was originally part of the ST mythology as we can see in the document below: The Montauk Pitch by the Duffer Brothers THE PROGRAM STARTS - As we learned in S4, the beginning of the program happens in 1959, and is a result of Dr. Brenner discovering a boy with extraordinary psychic abilities, Henry, after his mother contacts him in the hopes of sending him to a facility where he would be locked away and fixed. Henry, knowing what his mother was planning, decided to kill his whole family, but would eventually fall into a coma due to not knowing his limits while using his psychic powers. - Brenner knew what the boy did and also what he was capable of, and wanted to not just study but also control him. After the Creel House murders, Brenner would take Henry to the lab and the CIA would cover up anything that could compromise their operation. Victor Creel, the only survivor of the events in the house was declared legally insane, the records of what Victor claimed to have occurred in his house were sealed. - Brenner eventually sold to the CIA a separate program that he planned to start, a program that would study Henry Creel who was presented to the government as a potential weapon against the Soviets as stated by Matt Duffer in this interview by Deadline. He knew what this kid did and also what he was capable of when he was young. Brenner’s going, how can I mold this character, but not just into a weapon? That’s really how he sold it to the government, but for him as a scientist, it’s like, what other worlds can this kid show me about how our universe works? — Matt Duffer - As a scientist, Brenner had the desire to not only mold Henry into a weapon but also use him as a means to reach other worlds/dimensions and understand how the universe works. That makes me think that, at the time, Brenner expected Henry to be able to do what he would later discover only Eleven could do, which was the capablity of opening a rift or tear in time-space via psychic energy. - At some point, I would guess in late 1959 - early 1960s, an unknown event led Brenner to pacify Henry's abilities via Soteria. After that, Brenner would decide to evolve his program, replicating Henry's powers in other kids. This is something Matt Duffer confirmed that S5 will explore, It’s something we will get into in Season 5. What happened to that program once Henry became involved and how Brenner evolved it into including multiple kids. We’re going to go back and see some of that in Season 5. How Brenner tried to replicate Henry's abilities is unclear, but there's something mentioned in the Montauk bible that caught my attention and could be a brief explanation of how these preternatural abilities arise in some individuals: ELEVEN was an orphan with telekinesis. her preternatural abilities have been linked to mutations caused by her mothers drug use. In this version of the Eleven's backstory, the Duffers had not yet conceived El's mother being Terry Ives, the MKUltra involvement in the lore, and El's abilities being the result of experiments on her mother. Instead, we have genetic mutations caused by drug use. If there's any chance this is an explanation to how some individuals are born with psychic abilities, i suspect that Brenner knew that drugs had the potential to cause such mutations and that via experiments and training, he would unlock these supernatural psychic abilities. Knowing that, Brenner would use the MKUltra (which mainly involved psychedelic drugs) as a means to new supernatural kids to be born, just like it happened to Eleven. Virginia Creel's backstory In episode 7, Henry mentions that his parents did "such awful things." and that he "held up a mirror" to show them who they really were, but we never got to see what Henry used against his mother. Whatever awful thing she did, is still a mystery in the show. Also, Virginia somehow knew that Henry had supernatural abilities, so i think it's plausible to assume that, perhaps, Virginia knew it because of something dark in her past, something she believed resulted in her son being born with supernatural abilities and becoming a "broken" kid. The drug element that i mentioned before could also play a role in the origin of Henry's powers and whatever these dark memories of Virginia are. In S4E7 script, we can see that the whole part where Virginia suspects Henry is the responsible for the strange happenings in the house and contacts Brenner to lock her son away is missing. Meaning the writers later decided to add more layers to this backstory that may be explored in S5. The Duffer Brothers have confirmed in interviews that S5 will explore more of Henry's prequel story, and it was recently revealed in an article from BBC that the 'The First Shadow' stage play influences S5, so i'm hoping this means we'll see more of the Creels, specially Virginia. They were able to adjust some of the "things in the play" and said that working on it had given them ideas for the upcoming season five. Matt Duffer added: "Some of the mythology stuff is a little bit trickier, but like Ross said, it's been fun to have the play influence the show, and the show influenced the play, 1960's - THE PROGRAM EVOLVES - The evolution of Brenner's program logically took place during the 1960s, and some of that was already hinted in S2 when we discover that Terry had documents about people she believed were like her daughter. In some of those documents we get to see that Kali was abducted in London, a Cleveland teen girl who was seemingly abducted in Indiana, and a newborn boy was taken from a hospital. The baby was in the care of a nurse who was found dead in her home. - in 1969, Ray Carroll started working at HNL as an orderly. 1970's - At some point in the early 70's, Terry Ives got involved with MKUltra. (In the Suspicious Minds book, we learn that Terry was involved with MKUltra in 1969 but i'm not considering any information from the book due to the huge amount of inconsistencies.) - After Brenner kidnapped Eleven in 1971, the BreneHNL would face charges and lawsuits from Terry Ives but they were denied due to lack of evidence. - In 1973, the MKUltra was officially halted. - In 1974, Terry would try to take Eleven from the laboratory. Brenner ordered Terry to undergo an eletroshock therapy, ordering Ray Carroll to set the voltage up to 450 and then proceeded to electrocute her until her brain was damaged. - In 1979, One succeeded in having El "free" him by removing the Soteria from him. Regaining his psychic abilities, Henry kills all the Indigo numbers except for Eleven who would eventually banish him out of our dimension. After the attack, El falls into a coma, and Brenner doesn't dare bring another number to the lab. Instead, Brenner focuses the experiments on Eleven, who has repressed not only her memories of the past events but also her powers after waking up from her coma. Brenner knew that Eleven's abilities weren't lost but needed a "spark" to be restored. 1983 - Brenner believed that One was somewhere out there, "hiding in the darkness", and in 1983, after Eleven's powers were restored, Brenner would eventually use her abilities to find him. - In one experiment, El hears a strange sound that would get Brenner's attention. Despite El getting scared and the experiment being aborted, Brenner would repeat the experiment with the intention of making "contact". - On the night of november 6, 1983, El makes psychic contact with the Demogorgon in the Void, inadvertentely creating TUD, opening the mothergate and unleashing the monster. She eventually escaped the HNL that night. - On the next day, Brenner and the CIA receive a visit from agents that according to the S1E1 script were NSA. CIA and NSA agents would eventually work together to find Eleven and cover up anything that would compromise the secrecy of their clandestine operation. - Brenner and his team of agents along with MPs would go to the Hawkins Middle School in order to find Eleven after Hopper revealed her location. For their surprise, the Demogorgon appears in the school, distracting the agents and MPs, allowing the kids to run away from the CIA with Eleven. Brenner is brutally attacked by the Demogorgon, but survives the attack. - After the events in the school, we see hopper entering a black sedan with CIA agents. - CIA agents go to the Wheelers House searching for Eleven. This is the last time we see Brenner's men in the show. In the next season, the HNL would have a new director and a new staff. - In a clipping at Hawkins Police Station, there's information on the aftermath of the events in november, 1983, where we learn that Joyce Byers publicy alleged that Will was the subject of a secret government program. Joyce's allegation comes amidst the investigation into the past allegations of the lab's involvement with mind control experiments (MKUltra). - As to where Brenner and his entire staff were after the events in november, it is unknown, but i suspect Owens knew about what happened to them as in S2 he seems to be certain that Brenner's men were gone. The point is, mistakes have been made. Yes. Abundant mistakes, but, the men involved with those mistakes, the ones responsible for what happened to your brother and Miss Holland's death, they're gone. They're gone, and for better for worse, i'm the schmuck they brought in to make things better. — Sam Owens I've come to suspect that after the events of November '83, when the entire HNL staff was replaced, everything documented/recorded about the CIA's clandestine operations was securely locked away by CIA or DOE operatives, likely in the decommissioned Nevada Silo. (One alternate possibility is that those documents and recordings were stored in the Silo after the HNL was closed in december, 1984) Something that I find interesting is that both the Silo Lab and Owens' residence are located in Nevada, and in S4E5, when Eleven is taken to the Silo, originally the titles "Ruth, Nevada" appeared on the screen, that was later removed, but it implies that both the Silo and Owens' residence were close. This leads me to suspect that long before Owens and Brenner conceived of the NINA program, Owens already knew about the abandoned Silo in Nevada and decided to used it to store every TOP-SECRET documents/recordings of the CIA operations at HNL. https://preview.redd.it/qjidk3560i3b1.png?width=1334&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=287916d61b1b71b59d7b8c7ed3a7355f2b073f44 One interesting detail is that the idea of the government securely locking away videotapes is something the Duffers planned for their original Montauk conception, which most of it was a prototype for what we've seen in Stranger Things. In The Montauk Experiment, the O.S.S. would securely lock away film cannisters with recordings of everything that happened in Camp Hero after the experiments ended in a blood-soaked event. Details in the document below: The logline for 'The Montauk Experiment' DOCTOR SAM OWENS' POSITION IN THE U.S. GOVERNMENT - Sam Owens is a high-ranking member within U.S. Department of Energy as mentioned in the first official description of his character. Sometime between late 1983 - early 1984 he would be brought to HNL on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the mess left by the CIA in 1983 and making things better. - As I previously mentioned, Owens may have been responsible for locking away all the documented CIA experimentation at HNL, and he also may have known the whereabouts of Brenner and other scientists and CIA operatives who worked with him all along. I would even assume that Owens and Brenner may have been in contact all this time. - During his time as director of the operations at HNL, Owens was involved in Will's treatment and in containing the spread of TUD. - In November 1984, during the Demodogs invasion, Owens met Eleven, who eventually closed the gate, ending TUD invasion. - A month later, the operations at HNL were officially shut down and the lab was closed after the release of the tape recording Owens' "confession", and Owens decided to help Eleven have a normal life under Hopper's care, giving him a forged birth certificate, and recommending Hopper to "let things cool off" for a year. This, of course, was done without the knowledge of the U.S. government. FACTONS WITHIN THE U.S. GOVERNMENT After the events os S2, in addition to the CIA Clandestine Ops and the DOE, other different agencies were introduced in the story: - US Army/Pentagon that briefly appears at the end of s3 (although we've seen the Military Police in the previous seasons which is a branch of the Army), and would be an antagonist faction in S4. - FBI agents who are presented as friends of Owens and allied to our main characters in S4. SULLIVAN'S FACTION - At some point after the HNL was closed, Doctor Owens, in addition to his high-ranking position in the DOE, also gained some position within the U.S. Army/Pentagon, probably tasked with monitoring and maintaining security in Hawkins after the lab was closed and the military presence left town. Lieutenant Colonel Jack Sullivan was involved in this, and it's possible he and Owens worked together. - An interesting detail is that the arm patch on Lt. Colonel Sullivan's uniform confirms that he's an United States Army Criminal Investigation Division operative, hence his associaton with the Pentagon. - At some point (i assume 1985), rumors about Eleven being alive and receiving help from someone within the U.S. government began to surface within the Pentagon, this would affect Owens' reputation. - It's also worth mentioning that in S4E6, Sullivan seems to imply that he knew or at least believed Brenner was alive. Explanation two, Dr. Brenner's special little pet has gone rogue again and he and his lackeys are now seeking to cover it up. Perhaps in the hopes of selling their pet to the Soviets. — Lt. Colonel Sullivan There's also this interview with Sherman Augustus where the interviewer asks him if Sullivan knows that Brenner is still alive, and Sherman's answer implies that Brenner being alive is something that wouldn't surprise Sullivan, Maybe because it was rumored within the Pentagon too. Basically, there's nothing that Sullivan doesn't know or expect about what's been happening in Hawkins and within the government since the events of S1. I'm pretty sure he knows that there's certain elements... because he says in the dialogue "there's rumors that she's getting help from someone on the inside". So there is nothing that he is not, you know, equating in that situation, he's not surprised. Whatever it is, you have to be a really strong and dynamic individual to be able to go in and try to kick E.T in the butt. — Sherman Augustus - In July 1985, Owens would find out about a foreign government invasion in Hawkins, and would go to Hawkins with Army/Pentagon forces to deal with the invasion, only to find an empty Soviet bunker. OWENS' FACTION - After the events in July, Owens got fired from his position in the miitary for failing his assignment to monitor security at Hawkins, i believe the previously mentioned rumors about him may also have played a role in his dismissal. - Owens, knowing that El had lost her powers, feared a further re-emergence of the TUD, which led him to begin developing a means to restore her abilities and bring them back stronger than before. - Owens would ally with Brenner to develop a way to restore Eleven's abilities, and Brenner convinced Owens that the only way to do so was via a process of re-experiencing her repressed memories in a program that they would later call NINA. It's unclear when Brenner and Owens' alliance started, but i personally believe they knew each other for longer than we initially thought, and shortly after the July events, Owens' looked for Brenner's help in order to develop a means to restore El's powers. - Despite being fired from his position in the military, Owens was still a DOE member and also had connections to the FBI (Ellen Stinson and other agents), and he used his power to clandestinely provide Brenner with the necessary resources to establish the NINA Project. For the program to be sanctioned, he had to compromise his principles, and risk his life and that of his family. Something worth noting is that in the episode 7 script, the dialogue where Owens expresses his disappointment with NINA's progress is a little different: I've given you all the resources you've asked for, i've given you your people, i've compromised my principles, i've risked my life, my family's life, all because you assured me this would work. That this was the only way. — Sam Owens By "i've given you your people" we can confirm that Owens gave to Brenner his old HNL staff, who as we saw in S4E8, were loyal to him. And we can also confirm by Sam's words that he had to give Brenner resources, meaning, wherever Brenner was after the events oF S1, he was left with no resources and access to his old staff. - Owens and Brenner would establish NINA in the same abandoned Silo in Nevada where Owens presumably locked away all the video tapes and documents from HNL. THE FACTION CONFLICT - After Owens' dismissal, Sullivan apparently became the responsible for monitoring Hawkins and maintaining the security in the town. - In March 1986, a supernatural murder in Hawkins comes to Sullivan's attention, and after an autopsy is performed by Army medical doctors, Sullivan concludes that the murder was done remotely, which tied in with the rumors about Eleven being alive and getting help from someone within the U.S. government who he, and probably other operatives within the Pentagon believed was Sam Owens. - Upon that conclusion, Sullivan would begin a clandestine military operation in order to investigate Eleven's whereabouts, and this leads him to Owens. - Something worth noting is that when we are first introduced to Sullivan, he arrives in Indiana in an U.S. Army helicopter to investigate the circumstances of an unusual murder, but when he begins his operation to hunt down Eleven, he goes to Ruth, Nevada in an unmarked black helicopter, alluding to the fact that this is a clandestine military operation: Sullivan arrives in Indiana Sullivan leaves Owens' residence in Nevada Something interesting about the scene where Sullivan visits Owens that adds some information on what the U.S. government has been up to is the dialogue between Sullivan and Owens from this audition tape which is a bit different from the dialogue from the show: There were no signs of an attacker. No bruises, no signs of any struggle. It's as if her attacker was a ghost. — Lt. Colonel SullivanSo what is this, really? I mean, why are you here? all of the sudden you want to help again? — Sam Owens Dr. Owens, 30 civilians died last year, a foreign government invaded our country all under your watch. There had to be consequences, you've got to understand that — Lt. Colonel Sullivan Owens' question implies that Sullivan has been helping him at some point, probably in monitoring Hawkins like a mentioned before, which would explain how he knew so much about what has happened there all this years. And Sullivan's response implies that after Owens got fired, it became his responsability to maintain security in Hawkins, which is why he was there, asking Owens Eleven's whereabouts. - Owens refuses to tell Sullivan Eleven's whereabouts, and Jack decides to do things "the hard way", taking multiple items from Owens' house in order to investigate everything Sam has done and everyone he has spoken to in 1985 and luckily, be able to find where Eleven is. - Owens knew that the former Indigo test subject One was back when he saw pictures of Chrissy's body, and via a DOE intranet, he requests the immediate acceleration of NINA. He makes it clear that their secret program and facility were compromised and that the Pentagon was involved. And for the security of their program, Owens implements a communication lockdown. - Owens uses his FBI connections to have agents help him find Eleven, maintain the secrecy of the operation and protect people closely associated with Eleven who could be found by Sullivan. Some of those agents are Ellen Stinson, who seems to be Owens' right hand, Agent Harmon, and Agent Wallace. - In the meantime, Sullivan/the Pentagon was able to find out that Owens moved Eleven to Lenora Hills, CA, and would eventually send a group of agents/soldiers to find her. - After finding Eleven with a group of agents and convicing her to go with him in order to get her powers back, Owens takes El to the Silo Lab while Agents Harmon and Wallace would stay with Mike, Jonathan and Will to protect them, and Agent Stinson would be closely monitoring Hawkins with 2 more agents. - Sullivan, after a shootout in the Byers' house takes Agent Wallace to a black site to torture him in order to find out where Eleven was, and after a long time of torture, Wallace gave away Eleven's location. - After NINA succeeded in restoring Eleven's abilities, Owens, believing she was ready, would call Stinson to have her prepare the transit from Nevada to Hawkins, Indiana through her connections at Nellis. - Brenner would eventually betray Owens and considered killing him in order to stop Eleven from leaving the Silo Lab. After the conflict between Owens and Brenner, the Pentagon finally arrives at the location revealed by Agent Wallace and a conflict between the U.S army and the MP soldiers resulted in the death of Brenner, his men and all the scientists in the Silo Lab, except Owens. - Eleven escapes the Pentagon with her friends, and we see Sullivan and some of his soldiers for the last time in S4, in the Nevada desert. Episodes 8 and 9 made it clear that El still needs to hide and Sullivan's faction is still after her. It's worth mentioning that Sullivan was the only villain in ST4 not to be killed or at least injured, so it's almost certain that this guy will be back in ST5 to kick E.T's ass. Specially know that a full-scale TUD invasion is about the happen in Hawkins. POSSIBILITIES FOR S5: Sullivan investigates the video tapes in the silo lab S4 ended without us knowing what happened to Owens and Sullivan after eleven escaped, but we do know that both characters are in the Silo Lab and that Sullivan now has access to a vast amount of video tapes that he would certainly investigate and this would create many possibilities for the Pentagon's role in S5. Sullivan's Mission in Hawkins Sullivan is still responsible for monitoring Hawkins, and at some point he will probably learn about what is happening in the town (which is also where El is hiding now), possibly via the military presence in Hawkins that we saw in the ST4 epilogue. Something that caught my attention was the presence of a Research Lab vehicle on the set of downtown Hawkins, this vehicle never appeared in the show, and it was not mentioned in the script of episode 9. But it makes me think that at the end of S4, the Military is not just trying to help Hawkins citizen after this "federal disaster", but also researching into TUD, which perhaps is an operation led by Sullivan? let me know what you guys think. S1 parallels If we have Sullivan in Hawkins in S5, we most certainly will get more Government vs Eleven scenes, which would parallel Brenner and the CIA in S1. I particularly believe that S5 will have many parallels with what the Duffers planned for the first season of Montauk, ACT THREE (episodes 7-8) will climax with characters working together to outsmart the military, venture into this alternate dimension, save Will, and, hopefully, close this "tear" once and for all. Doctor Owens in 1959 flashbacks Something I found extremely suspicious is that in S4, Owens seemed to know more than we initially thought. He's claimed three victims so far, and when i saw the eyes, i knew... i knew that was him. He was him. He was sending us a message, letting us know he's back. This sentence from Owens confirms that he somehow knew Henry's killing manner. It's plausible to assume that Owens learned about Henry and the other Indigo Numbers after being brought to the lab to "make things better". But I personally believe that there must be a greater reason why he was brought to HNL after S1, I believe Owens was already aware of the clandestine operations that had been happening in the HNL for years (at least some of it) and had known Dr. Brenner since the 1950's. I would even consider the possibility that Owens has been involved in clandestine government operations in the past and that somehow led him to find out about the HNL and Brenner's program. In this interview by The Wrap, Ross Duffer's words about Brenner and Owens' alliance caught my attention because the way he puts it felt like Owens has known Brenner for longer than we think. Once that first kill with Chrissy happens, then their fears are realized and that’s what jump starts their whole storyline. I mean, that is why Owens is collaborating with Brenner, a man he also does not like. He respects him, but despises the man, because he also knows he’s the key to stopping One, to stopping Vecna. By my suspicion, i came up with the theory/fanfic that Owens could have worked with Brenner in the 50's and was aware of what happened in the Creel House in '59. Maybe he even met young Henry and interacted with him after he woke up from his coma. If there's any chance that i'm right about it, i would imagine the Owens and Henry interactions would parallel the scenes with Owens and Will in S2. Stinson becomes the new Owens / Her alliance with the adults Agent Stinson was apparently Owens' right hand in S4 and also the leader among the agents of Owens' faction, being involved in the operations in Nevada, Hawkins and even being responsible for driving Hopper and Joyce to Hawkins. Imo, Stinson has the potential to become the "new Owens"/Main government operative to help our main characters while Owens is MIA. She could also send some agents to investigate what happened to Owens. I have a personal theory that Stinson will join the adults in S5 and help them on a mission to outsmart the military. And i think the "knowing nod" between Hop and Stinson in S4E9 might be a hint of a possible team up for S5. submitted by kauan1983 to StrangerThings [link] [comments] |

Victor Creel, the only survivor of the events in the house was declared legally insane, and the records of what Victor claimed to have occurred in his house were sealed. This is something Matt Duffer confirmed that S5 will explore:
It’s something we will get into in Season 5. What happened to that program once Henry became involved and how Brenner evolved it into including multiple kids. We’re going to go back and see some of that in Season 5. — Matt Duffer How Brenner tried to replicate Henry's abilities is unclear, but there's something mentioned in the Montauk bible that caught my attention and could be a brief explanation of how these preternatural abilities arise in some individuals: ELEVEN was an orphan with telekinesis. her preternatural abilities have been linked to mutations caused by her mothers drug use. (In the Suspicious Minds book, we learn that Terry was involved with MKUltra in 1969 but i'm not considering any information from the book due to the huge amount of inconsistencies.) - After Brenner kidnapped Eleven in 1971, the HNL would face charges and lawsuits from Terry Ives but they were denied due to lack of evidence. This leads me to suspect that long before Owens and Brenner conceived of the NINA program, Owens already knew about the abandoned Silo in Nevada and decided to used it to store every TOP-SECRET documents/recordings of the CIA operations at HNL: https://preview.redd.it/xh9e7lxqye3b1.png?width=1334&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=eafda108e43adbb8ff115ac586a13add1f1e8442 One interesting detail is that the idea of the government securely locking away videotapes is something the Duffers planned for their original Montauk conception, which most of it was a prototype for what we've seen in Stranger Things. Sometime between late 1983 and early 1984 he would be brought to HNL on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the mess left by the CIA in 1983 and making things better. — Sherman Augustus - In July 1985, Owens would find out about a foreign government invasion in Hawkins, and would go to Hawkins accompanied by Army/Pentagon forces to deal with the invasion, only to find an empty Soviet bunker. OWENS' FACTION - After the events in July, Owens got fired from his position in the miitary for failing his assignment to monitor security at Hawkins, i believe the previously mentioned rumors about him may also have played a role in his dismissal. - Owens, knowing that El had lost her powers, feared a further re-emergence of the TUD, which led him to begin developing ways to restore her abilities. Army helicopter to investigate the circumstances of an unusual murder, but when he begins his operation to hunt down Eleven, he goes to Ruth, Nevada in an unmarked black helicopter, alluding to the fact that this is a clandestine military operation: Sullivan arrives in Indiana Sullivan leaves Owens' residence in Ruth, Nevada Something interesting about the scene where Sullivan visits Owens that adds some information on what the U.S. government has been up to is the dialogue between Sullivan and Owens from this audition tape which is a bit different from the dialogue in the show, There were no signs of an attacker. No bruises, no signs of any struggle. It's as if her attacker was a ghost. — Lt. Colonel Sullivan So what is this, really? - Owens knew that the former Indigo test subject One was back, and via a DOE intranet, he requests the immediate acceleration of NINA. POSSIBILITIES FOR S5: Sullivan investigates the video tapes in the silo lab S4 ended without us knowing what happened to Owens and Sullivan after eleven escaped, but we do know that both characters are in the Silo Lab and that Sullivan now has access to a vast amount of video tapes that he would certainly investigate and this would create several different possibilities for the Pentagon's role in S5. Sullivan's Mission in Hawkins Sullivan is still responsible for monitoring Hawkins, and he will likely learn about what is happening in the town (which is also where El is hiding now), possibly through the military presence in Hawkins that we saw in the ST4 epilogue. Something that caught my attention was the presence of a Research Lab vehicle on the set of down town hawkins, this vehicle never appeared in the show, and it was not mentioned in the script of episode 9. I particularly believe that S5 will have many parallels with what the Duffers planned for the first season of Montauk: ACT THREE (episodes 7-8) will climax with characters working together to outsmart the military, venture into this alternate dimension, save Will, and, hopefully, close this "tear" once and for all. Doctor Owens in 1959 flashbacks Something I found extremely suspicious is that in S4, Owens seemed to know more than we initially thought... In this interview by The Wrap, Ross Duffer's words about Brenner and Owens' alliance caught my attention because the way he puts it felt like Owens has known Brenner for much longer than we think. — Ross Duffer By my suspicion, i came up with the theory/fanfic that Owens could have worked with Brenner in the 50's and was aware of what happened in the Creel House in '59. And i think the "knowing nod" between Hop and Stinson in S4E9 might be a hint of a possible team up for S5. submitted by kauan1983 to HawkinsAVclub [link] [comments] |
2023.06.02 02:40 Magykstorm19 My First Final Fantasy Game Ever Part 15
I am playing my first Final Fantasy game ever which is Final Fantasy VII for the PS1. Here is the last part for those who are interested:
https://www.reddit.com/FinalFantasy/comments/13w56dmy_first_final_fantasy_game_ever_part_14/
I last left off with Cloud coming back to the party and for this part I will be talking about getting the Red Huge Materia and the side stuff that I did.
For gameplay, in terms of story the most unique thing to happen was the submarine minigame. TBH, I thought this was the most stressful minigame because I kind of had no idea what I was doing. I am just happy that that 10 minute time limit is very lenient. I was able to win with 4 minutes left. After getting the submarine I did investigate the underwater and saw a few things. I found the Red Huge Materia and the Gelnika ship. So I was able to get the Hades summon and the Highwind Manual among other trinkets. After the Gelnika Ship I found what I think is the Green Weapon. I have steered away from it but now I am a little scared anytime I go into the sea. At what level should I take on the Green Weapon cause already the Black Weapon looks to be really strong. That said, with the Submarine I was able to go north where I was able to find a waterfall crater. I will talk more about the waterfall crater in the story mode. Too bad I didn't get any cool weapon or armor from the cave but the story implications more than made up for it. But before I got the submarine, I tried to get the Omnislash Manual from the Gladiator Arena in the Golden Saucer. I was able to get the Manual but oh my god was it challenging. I can not leave the room without losing my BP but Omnislash cost 32,000 BP. I thought I could get the manual with 60 BP but I was only able to get 16,000. My only salvation was that I found this random guy outside the Golden Saucer who was able to give me 100 BP for 10k gil. I sold my Mastered All Materia for over 1 million gil so I was able to pay for it. As for the Gladiator game, one of the worst things that happened to me was the Manipulate Materia. I never used the manipulate command before and I used it for the first time in this minigame. After beating the first centipede, I was controlling the second centipede and I had no way of attacking the monster. Because Cloud was controlling the monster and I could not control Cloud, I had to attack myself until my HP hit zero and restart. This was an absolutely terrible experience and I had regrets lol. I learned a valuable lesson which was to never use manipulate when I can control only one person. After a long trial, I was able to get Omnislash but it was hard getting it. After getting Omnislash, I investigated the cliffs in Mideel and some weird things happened. Because I could not go into every area after snowboarding because I passed out, I went back to areas I missed. I made my way into a hot springs which I thought was weird how hot springs could exist in a icy cold area. I wanted to save my game because I was done for the day so I tried to the so the the cabin all the way in the north. I found a random cave and saw some weird stuff. There was a crazy purple person who was angry with me because I touched hot springs. I honestly do not know what happened but it resulted in me getting the Alexander Summon Materia. I like Alexander, he is a Pacifista from One Piece before Pacifista even existed. Given how this game rewards backtracking, one of the biggest conclusions I have come from this game is that Final Fantasy would make a great Zelda game. Going to through dungeons and unlocking new materia like how you get items in Zelda.
Now that I have gotten the Red Huge Materia, I have to go to Rocket Town for the last Huge Materia which is not Yellow, Green, or Red (I think it will be blue). I just realized that the 4 types of materia one can use: green magic materia, blue support materia, red summon materia, and yellow command materia correspond to the Huge Materia that we have to get in the game, I wonder if there is a Purple Huge Materia for the Solo-Self Working Materia. I predict that the Four Huge Materia combine into a single Materia that will be purple.
Now for the story. There was not much story for getting the Red Huge Materia but I have a lot to talk about regarding the side stuff I did. For starters, I went back to the Nibelheim basement and I found out the truth behind Zack Fair and the post-Nibelheim Incident Experiments. One thing I forgot to talk about in the previous part was how the truth about the Nibelheim Incident did show something about Sephiroth's character prior to going insane. Sephiroth, a war hero, someone who everybody aspires to be asked Cloud, a nobody, a faceless Shinra infantryman how he feels returning home. This really highlights Sephiroth's character because he it shows that he used to care about the people around him. Now regarding the basement. So after the Incident, both Cloud and Zack were experimented on in that basement for FIVE YEARS. 5 years, being unconscious and in a tube being injected with Mako sounds absolutely terrible. I believe Cloud is 21 in the present of this game, so he should 16 during the Incident. This means that Cloud is a 21 year old while having the mind of a 16 year old. Cloud has a lot of trauma that I think therapy would do wonder for him. PTDS, Identity Crisis, and Memory Issues is hard to live with. Tangent aside, Zack was able to break free from his capsule and rescues Cloud and escapes Nibelheim by riding a truck to Midgard. Due to Cloud being infused with Mako for FIVE YEARS, Cloud is out of it for the entire time. I like the subtle detail of Zack thinking about crashing at Aerith's house but shuts down the idea because Aerith's mother would be there. What is heartbreaking is that Shinra is chasing the SOLDIER duo so Zack and Cloud have to abandon the truck. Zack then defends Cloud and fights Shinra soldiers and how he gets gunned down. The death of Zack fair is brutal, point-blank machine gun fire to the chest. Then seeing Cloud starting to finally get the sense of his reality and crawl to Zack while still being affected by Mako poisoning is sad. Given Cloud's uniform and proximity to Midgard Zack's death takes place, I think it is safe to assume that the Zack's death happens right before Cloud joins AVALANCHE. So when we talk to Zack's parents in Gongaga and they say that they haven't seen or heard from Zack for 5 years, they do not know that their child is dead. That is incredibly morbid. If I go to Gongaga, can Cloud tell them about Zack?
It is really impressive how Square Enix was able to connect the Nibelheim flashback to the present the main game despite the 5 year difference. Because while the event may have taken 5 years apart, in Cloud's mind they are practically back-to-back.
That said, when it comes to Zack as a whole I do have some level of mixed feelings. On one hand, there is the mystery of the Nibelheim Incident and he is a character brought up since going to Gongaga for the first time. But given how important he is to the story overall from being Aerith's boyfrend and Cloud's best friend from SOLDIER and being the key piece in the flashback, I would have liked to see more of him. I get the challenges it would bring, when should we see more of Zack and how much because it is a fine line to get the sweetspot but it would be nice to see it happen. It is not a huge bummer but it would make this great game even better.
The other major story segment for me is the waterfall cave. SEPHIROTH'S MOTHER IS ALIVE. Her name is Lucrecia and she tried to kill herself but she can't because of the Jenova cells inside of her. We also see the backstory of Vincent. So Vincent was a former Turk which we knew before be joined the party. But he was in love with Lucrecia but she rejected him and instead spent time with a black-haired glasses man who for the time being I will name Billy. Eventually Lucrecia becomes pregnant and I can only assume Billy is the father. Over time, Vincent did not like the experiments Billy was doing and when he objected, Billy shot him and that is what lead to the experimentation on Vincent to made him what he become. Now the question becomes: who is Billy? I think Billy is Dr. Hojo. The reason why I think Billy is Hojo is because the only reason why Vincent joins the party is to get revenge on Hojo. So seeing that Billy pulls a glock and pops Vincent in the chest, it would make the most sense that Billy is Hojo as getting shot in the chest is a good motivation for revenge. But if Billy is Hojo, does that make him Sephiroth's father? I swear if Hojo is Sephiroth's father than my love life will take a shot from a video game. Sephiroth is a beautiful man and I can only assume that he got the genes from Lucrecia but if Hojo can bag Lucrecia, how much rizz does Hojo have? In a game that features talking cats, a planet with an immune system, crystals that can summon a world-ending meteor, the most unrealistic thing would have to be the possibility that Dr. Hojo has the rizz to bag Lucrecia and become Sephiroth's father. I think the only possible reason why Lucrecia would even think of smashing Hojo has to be mind-control from Hojo to allow this to happen (which would literally be a crime) or the smashing was done out of science. I swear whatever made Lucrecia reject Vincent had to be something major like Vincent killed Lucrecia's parents unknowingly. Vincent is infinitely better than Hojo as both in looks and as a person. Hojo's rizz is easily the biggest mystery of the series. Hojo getting women is just something I cannot believe. Other forces have to have taken place for such an atrocity to occur.
Regarding Lucrecia, it was heartbreaking to learn that Sephiroth was immediately taken away from her the moment he was born which meant that she never had a chance to even hold him. Sephiroth's life was full of isolation and he did not experience love, not from a parent or anybody. In a sense, Sephiroth is the definition of "I am what you made me" as his life is fulfilling Jenova's purpose which Shinra had a hand in doing as they were the ones who injected Sephiroth with Jenova cells. While Sephiroth is obviously wrong for what he is doing, it makes a lot more sense of why he is doing it.
And this is pretty much what I did in this part, now I must head to Rocket Town to fight for the last Huge Materia.
Something I want to add regarding Zack's death is how he is no longer alone. In Gongaga, Aerith tells the gang that Zack was her boyfriend but she never saw him for a long time, turns out it was because he died. And now Aerith dies in the main game so now she can be reunited with Zack in the Lifestream. It really is a bittersweet ending for the pair.
As always, please do not spoil what I have yet to complete in this game. That said, how much of the game have I completed. While I do not want to know what event I need to complete but how much as percentage do I have left? Because there are still things I want to do like getting Limit Break Level 4 Manuals for Tifa and Barrett and getting a golden chocobo in Kalm.

I thought you might enjoy my 5 Chest CT's in 3 months adventure...
Here are the images from this saga:
https://imgur.com/a/RgCTZTU A little background, I (35F) came into the doc because I was having pain in my LUQ and shortness of breath. I thought I might have pneumonia because I had a respiratory virus not that long before.
They did a CT angiogram (Dec 2022) which revealed no pneumonia or PE's but bilateral infiltrates with characteristics of pulmonary lymphoma.
They decided to do a PET CT next which revealed the same thing. Sidenote: I'm on anticoagulants for 2 genetic clotting disorders and a history of PE/DVT. The docs didn't want to do a biopsy because they were worried about the bleeding/clotting risks so they wanted to recheck in a month.
I got another chest CT in January of 2023. The radiologist said everything looked good aside from mild atelectasis. Cool my infiltrates were magically gone!
A week later, I had severe pain in my shoulder so I rushed to the ER and the lower left lobe of my lung had collapsed. I also had pretty bad pleural effusion. (Feb 2023 imaging) I was hospitalized for a week until the pleural effusion had diminished but the hospital was unsure what happened.
Fast forward another week, I am in pain again so I go back to the ER. They say the CT looks normal.
They never came to a conclusion as to what caused all of this but it was a rollercoaster of "you probably have cancer", "nevermind", "whoops your lung collapsed!"
All in all, I glow in the dark now.

2023.06.02 01:53 VagrantSea Edelgard Analysis month 1: Does Edelgard have PSTD?
| Preface / My reason behind doing this for 22 day: - 1st reason is because I want to challenge myself on analysing a game narrative as a game design student.
- 2nd is that I want to improve people thought on both Edelgard as well as both of her routes as i feel like there is a lot of intentional misinformation out on her character as well her routes. ( I say Intentional since it was done by both the community, youtubers and TreeHouse. Which is sad because Edelgard and her routes, I feel has the best writing out of “Modern Fire Emblem” despite suffering from the flaws it received from the larger flaws within 3House and Hopes writing. ( Which is a larger topic that one day I might make a big post about. ) As on their own. These routes really don’t have many flaws and the flaws they do have can be forgiven I feel.
- I can’t write fic or draw for shit.
Notes: Originally, the first post was about Edelgard ideology and how it fitted into Humanism, but kept having brain farts. So I am skipping it for time being, I am using and continuing a analysis I wrote around 8 month more a go before losing interest. So there will be a few conflicting things here. And I guess change in writing. There will also be a lot of spelling and sentence mistakes because I am dyslexic as hell. Now before I go into the nitty gritty of the post I will mention to 2 things. First is that I will probably come across as condescending as I will be talking about what is PTSD very thoroughly and explaining certain things like ‘Umbrella term’ in certain manner in the helps that it would better understand the subject matter for people. The second thing’s is that I only have the basic understanding of PTSD and it subject manner because I only learn about PTSD and mental health issues when I was learning about the different counselling theory like behaviourism, psychodynamic and humanism therapy during my level 2 Youth Work course. It has been over 4 years since I was on that course and have I changed field of what I what to do with my life. Due to this, I will most certainly make mistakes here and I am not that well educated on the subject matter. Compared to let say the person who I get popularised the theory What is Trauma In order to understand Post-traumatic stress disorder otherwise known as PTSD. We need to first understand what is “trauma”. Trauma is an emotional response that happen immediately after or later in life after a negative event that either happens unexpectedly or over the cause of a few or a multitude of days. This negative event can be many many things. This 4 minutes long video by Nation Health Service ( NHS for short. ) Scotland explains trauma within a person childhood, how it effect adulthood and some additionally information’s on the subject matter. But while the video is focusing more on the children side of the subject. It doesn’t mean that these thing doesn’t effect adult with their lives. Adverse Childhood Experiences - NHS Health Scotland - YouTube For those who don’t want to watch the video. Here’s a mind map I made. Yes I am putting that much effort into this post: https://preview.redd.it/wwyzxi1gth3b1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=7e4b0c0853ca5fcc57f343f680bf65373f7f3183 These are only the event that can cause Trauma that I can think of when writing this. However, a key thing to understand about traumatic events is that people responds differently to the events that happens to them and that one traumatic event for one person might not be one for another.. Some are able to brush it off when it happens to them while other are unable to. Using Dorothea and Ashe as an example here. They both suffer from being Homeless and was pick up by some sort of guardian figure. For Dorothea it was Manuela and the Opera company, while for Ashe, it was Lonato. What separates them is that Ashe “overcame” his trauma and his mental health both due to his sibling, Lonato and Christoph being a loving adopted family and the environment that he was then surrounded in. Whilst with Dorothea, whilst Manuela was a loving guardian. She was brought into a environment that has a lot domestic violence, sexual abuse and much more which caused more mental health issues for Dorothea. Understanding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PSTD within the UK is classified as an Anxiety and Psychiatric Disorder but in countries it is most likely classified differently but the main thing is that can be cause by the traumatic event’s I mention early. It could appear after the traumatic event happened or later down the lines after a couple of month to a year. For explaining PSTD here, I will be using a lot of source since I probably won’t be able to explain it properly and make sure people have a good understanding of it which is the main I want to do. To use a quote from PTSD UK which is charity: PTSD Explained – PTSD UK “It’s estimated that 50% of people will experience a trauma at some point in their life. The defining characteristic of a traumatic event is its capacity to provoke fear, helplessness, or horror in response to the threat of injury or death and therefore can affect anyone. Examples of traumatic events include assault, road traffic incident, natural disasters, domestic and child abuse, war, acts of terrorism and traumatic childbirth. (you can read more about the causes of PTSD here) The majority of people exposed to traumatic events experience some short-term distress, but eventually, their trauma fades to a memory – painful, but not destructive. However, around 20% of people who experience a trauma go on to develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In the UK, that’s around 6,665,000 people, yet it is still an incredibly misunderstood, often misdiagnosed and stigmatized condition. PTSD typically causes four different groups of symptoms: reliving the traumatic event perhaps in the form of flashback, nightmares or intrusive memories (also called re-experiencing or intrusion); avoiding situations that are reminders of the event; negative changes in beliefs and feelings; and feeling hypervigilant and fearful to people and the world around you (also called hyperarousal). “ To go into further details on the symptoms of PTSD: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - Illnesses & conditions NHS inform “Re-experiencing Re-experiencing is the most typical symptom of PTSD. This is when a person involuntarily and vividly relives the traumatic event in the form of: flashbacks nightmares repetitive and distressing images or sensations physical sensations, such as pain, sweating, feeling sick or trembling Some people have constant negative thoughts about their experience, repeatedly asking themselves questions that prevent them coming to terms with the event. For example, they may wonder why the event happened to them and if they could have done anything to stop it, which can lead to feelings of guilt or shame. Avoidance and emotional numbing Trying to avoid being reminded of the traumatic event is another key symptom of PTSD. This usually means avoiding certain people or places that remind you of the trauma, or avoiding talking to anyone about your experience. Many people with PTSD try to push memories of the event out of their mind, often distracting themselves with work or hobbies. Some people attempt to deal with their feelings by trying not to feel anything at all. This is known as emotional numbing. This can lead to the person becoming isolated and withdrawn, and they may also give up pursuing activities they used to enjoy. Hyperarousal (feeling "on edge") Someone with PTSD may be very anxious and find it difficult to relax. They may be constantly aware of threats and easily startled. This state of mind is known as hyperarousal. Hyperarousal often leads to: irritability angry outbursts sleeping problems (insomnia) difficulty concentrating Other problems Many people with PTSD also have a number of other problems, including: other mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety or phobias self-harming or destructive behaviour, such as drug misuse or alcohol misuse other physical symptoms, such as headaches, dizziness, chest pains and stomach aches PTSD sometimes leads to work-related problems and the breakdown of relationships.” This short video below goes into what is PTSD. ( It explains it better then what I ever could.): The psychology of post-traumatic stress disorder - Joelle Rabow Maletis - YouTube The main 2 thing I want to mention from this video is: The first is what separate people from having PTSD to not having it is when the symptoms of what the source I mention earlier are consistent, where these flashbacks and nightmare keep happening after a month from traumatic incident or when you start having these symptoms suddenly one day after 5 month from the Traumatic event and where the symptoms start to bleed into everyday life and have an effect similar to addiction and other mental health issues. And the thing is that you don’t have to show all the symptoms to have PTSD. It similar to every other mental health but also disability where you could show just a few of those symptoms but they are enough to prove that you may have it. The second is about how things that relate to the original trauma can cause a person to re experience and relive the trauma. The difference between PTSD and C-PTSD The last thing I want to mention is that there are multiple version of PTSD, this is something that people who aren’t as knowledgeable on mental health as a whole. Both of these come under the parent category or rather umbrella term / category of ‘Disorders specifically associated with stress’. ( This is a recent change from the World Health Organisation’s.) To simplify Umbrella terms, think of it as something similar to genres where within video games, you have your shooters genre and within that genre you have your first-person shooters, third-person shooters, arcade shooters and much more. That is what Umbrella terms is and is used a lot in the social working field as a whole. And while doing my research I have found about ‘normal stress response, comorbid PTSD, acute stress disorder and uncomplicated PTSD’ which fit under this umbrella category. I will only be talking about the two in the title. The main difference between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is the duration of the traumatic event. To quote a video by “Psycho2Go” which goes into detail about C-PTSD: C-PTSD...What is it? - YouTube “PTSD is typically triggered by a specific or a series of events in a short period of time. While C-PTSD is caused by a series of traumatic events over a long period of time.” In other word’s, PTSD is caused by a singular traumatic event like car accidents or being raped whilst C-PTSD is caused by multiple, long-lasting, repeated or continuos traumas or traumatic events like domestic abuses, bullying and Repeated exposure to disaster, accidents, deaths or violent acts (including emergency service workers) C-PTSD whilst share the same symptoms as one I mention above is much more severe then normal PTSD becomes of the continuos traumatic events which causes trust issues and if not treated can lead to all sorts of other issues like addictions, depression, anxiety and self-destructive behaviour to name a few and require much more professional help. However, mental health issues as a whole is like a spectrum and ultimately symptoms and traumatic event are not binary. You can go through one single traumatic event and get C-PTSD while another person could through multiple and receive as bad PTSD or none at all. Traumatic event effect everyone differently and it also the fact that everyday life can effect this spectrum. Some day people with it are ok, other day it’t really bad. To quote the same video again: “C-PTSD is an issue involving safety, for examples those who grew up in abusive household may lack a feeling of safety. This constant fear, a physical, emotional or psychological harm in childhood can cause problems later in life.” ( This quote makes me want to want something about Dorothea trauma.) In general trying to explain mental health condition as a whole is bloody hard to do. Hopefully, I successfully explain what is PTSD that a lot of you understands it better thought honestly I think I probably made a good few mistakes here and there. Now let get onto explain about whether or not Edelgard has PTSD. Edelgard Traumatic Events Now ignoring the war aspect of the game since this Fire Emblem Game but also to borrow a quote from a another reddit user on a separate post where they were reply to another comment to give a reason why we are ignoring it. ( Not mentioning their usernames here because I don’t want them to get harassed. ) “I agree with all you said, especially the part "we don't live in Fodlan and they don't live in our world. If tomorrow you get attack by a group of bandits, you will probably get scared for life". Some scientific articles speak about that even in our modern world. The culture amd context of our country (people living in a country plunged by war are less at risk developing a ptsd from hearing/seeing a shooting than a dude living in the US/EU.). other factors include age (a little one doesn't have resources an adult has), duration, type of trauma (you can have some subtile differences, for example if the trauma is caused by someone you know or not, are you the author or victim of the abuse etc.), personality and past of someone (risk factors, how one manages stress) etc. Psychotraumatology is a new field and even today we haven't unbuncked precisely why one develops ptsd and the other no in reaction to a same event.” Edelgard has quite a few traumatic event. Traumatic event 1: The Insurrection of the Seven Edelgard first traumatic event is in fact the Insurrection of Seven ( IoS for short. ), being separated from majority of her family and being forced to go into hiding with Faerghus. We know that before the IoS, Edelgard has a good childhood with her being surrounded by her loving and caring family that is her siblings, Father, real Uncle and her retainer / best friend Hubert. From a Youth Worker PoV, I could mention about her not having two parents or two Guardians and the effects it can cause with all that stuff since Anselma was exiled from the Empire when Edelgard was a baby. But the real Arundel took up and became what is Edelgard second Parent / Guardian who was very caring and dotted on her which makes up for Edelgard not having 2 parents. ( And in reality, a lot of people nowaday has grown up with only one parent, so this point is utterly point less. ) It’s also implied in AM and details within both games as well as Jp version that Edelgard around this time was religious personas well, most likely getting this from the real Arundel as he was a deeply pious person. Note: It’s could implied that Hubert is also religious due to him carrying a Goddess Talisman around. However, Edelgard going into hiding was very sudden, in fact thanks to her support with Manuela that we know that Edelgard went to see a performance by Manuela with Her Uncle before leaving the Empire to go into hiding in Faerghus. This would have caused a lot of stress for a child Edelgard, going from a loving family setting into a very unknown location, forced into hiding with no other point of contact other then her uncle would have been traumatic for Edelgard. Even though she gain a new friend within Dimitri that unknown to him would have help her through it just by being friend. Since people underestimate how much being friends with someone can do for someone during struggling times. Over course of 1 to 3 years. I say 1-3 I remember the game not being consistent with this detail of how long they knew each other for which is partly on Treehouse mistranslation, CF for not really caring Edelgard and Dimitri previous which isn’t a negative as route and Edelgard character chooses to focus on the present and future while AM is AM. ( If this sound like I do not like AM, you are correct.) The event would have introduced a sense of fear when comes change and safety as she basically went into a big unknown. An unknown that is Faerghus. Which considering the lore, is bad. Like Faerghus would and should have a 0 out of ten on Trivago for a reason. Faerghus is inspired by the UK for a reason I know this as Brit. Traumatic event 2: The Return to the Empire, The New “Uncle Arundel” and the Experiment. Joking / not joking aside ( Like serious, Faerghus is bad. ) we known that this isn’t the last traumatic event as Edelgard sudden return to the Empire would have reintroduced this traumatic feeling into her. Especially, after she found a norm within the Kingdom even if it isn’t the same one as the her original norm within the Empire. This feel would have become worst with the sudden change in her “uncle”, going from a kind and loving person to a very blunt and cold person. ( Or rather Thalas body snatching Arundel ) This possible trauma did become a genuine thing if it hasn’t before as we know Edelgard has nightmare of the following event’s returning to the Empire, seeing her father powerless, seeing his eyes looking her in care. ( Care part was removed in Translation.) and seeing his clenched fists dripping with blood. Whilst details he betray from her Uncle is something we can definitely imply. This event becomes worst as she forced into the deepest part of Enbarr castle, it lowest dungeon, far from the light above for the experiment TWSITD, her new uncles and some of the Empire nobles. A subtle detail I just notice and another detail often missed is that there are multiple dungeons within Embarr. As within Edelgard support with Ferdinand in 3Hopes, she states that the dungeon of Ferdinand imagine of what the place his father would be like is a reality and is further down from where his father is staying. https://preview.redd.it/gwxv5mokth3b1.png?width=701&format=png&auto=webp&s=c0f53edbfd0665bd9bb716f9e717937638d15733 With Edelgard then saying before hand that she only been down there once, imply that other then her long placement down there during the experiment. She never return to the place of her sibling death. ( As Game Design Student and Media, I love camera shot above. ) While the detail that people missed mainly because it was removed in the English version was the implication that some of the Empire Nobles did know about the Experiments like Aegir and supposedly Varley but did nothing about. Note: Why would they as Ionius was trying to slowly strip their power with his reform. ( Yet again Treehouse removed the detail Ionius changing the Empire through reformation. It is one of the prime lore example of why change through diplomacy or reform won’t work. ) ( A nice detail also is that Edelgard choose not to put Ludwig Aegir in same dungeon, he put her and her siblings. Instead a better cells, something which Ferdinand appreciate Edelgard for doing. ) Getting back on topic, we know for a fact that the Experiment is a deeply traumatic event as we know that Edelgard struggles to get to sleep at night due to the nightmare and insomnia it cause her, seeing her sibling and father suffer. She also reliving the event both at Remire village, her 3 Hopes paralogue, Hyrm in SB and the return of TWSITD in 3 Hopes. It’s an event that plagues her mind at times and is something she tries to lie to Byleth to a degree due to the nature of it all. ( She lies about it being a plague to them, which isn’t a bad thing since if Edelgard was to tell them without fully trusting them, them blabbing about it would put both Byleth at risk but also Edelgard. ) The Experiment very much gave Edelgard a deeply traumatic experiment on it own to the point that it enough evidence to say she has got C-PTSD from this alone. But we not finished there as still got two more traumatic event. Traumatic event 3: Lost in Faith. Now there was a reason behind me mention Edelgard being previous religiously, possibly to the degree of being a devout follow and that because Edelgard went through a lose of faith during the experiment. I think this quote from CaptainFlash just sums it better then what I ever could: Edelgard and faith : fireemblem (reddit.com) If you look at Edelgard's conversation with Dimitri in Azure Moon, a heartbreaking fact emerges-Edelgard was once a devout believer. She says to Dimitri- "Even if one clings to their faith, the goddess will never answer them. Countless souls will be lost that way. Living without purpose. And I can be counted among those who have died that way as well." The implication here is devastating- Edelgard was a formerly religious child, "clinging to their faith", pleading to the goddess to make her torture stop, and was instead left broken and ignored (of course, she had no way of knowing about Sothis' true situation). This makes sense given what we know about the greater social context of Fodlan-individuals who have a Crest often are presumed to have a special relationship with those who originated their Crests. This would be particularly true for a young girl bearing the Crest of Seiros, the first and most famous disciple of Sothis, particularly given the close historical ties between Seiros and the Adrestian Emperors. However, young Edelgard's petitions to the gods remained unanswered-her siblings died horrifically in front of her eyes, and she herself was tortured both psychologically and physically for years. Edelgard's entire worldview was shattered. I want to make a brief aside here, to state that, as you can probably guess from some of my other posts, I empathize greatly with Edelgard and her worldview. There is nothing-not her death scenes, not turning into a monster in Azure Moon, not confirming her fatalistic world view by rejecting her in the tomb, which is more painful and true to life to me than those lines she says to Dimitri. There's a term with C-PTSD called "loss of systems of meaning" where the individual experiences a disconnect with their pre-trauma self and are unable to rely on things that previously defined his or her identity-that's what happened to Edelgard. It's why she says things like "the Edelgard who cries died years ago." One of the major teachings of the Church of Seiros is that the goddess "cares for and protects all that is beautiful in this world" (You can find this listed among the major commandments of the faith in the library). One can certainly see the devastating impact this had on Marianne (who speaks of Edelgard in reverent tones in CF), but it also had a deep impact on Edelgard and how she views herself. Since Edelgard wasn't cared for and protected, she must not be "beautiful." If you want an idea of how Edelgard views herself internally, one need only look at Hegemon Edelgard in Azure Moon, a (symbolic) physical manifestation of Edelgard's dehumanization and utter self-loathing. This sense of abandonment, broken faith, and the persistent belief that she unable to be loved drives everything that Edelgard does. Due to this internalized sense of abandonment, Edelgard lacks self-worth as a human being-it's why she continues to question Byleth following her even in Crimson Flower, and why she says she "never thought" anyone would follow her. I think what makes this situation worst is both the crest Edelgard received and the situation she is in. In that during the experiment, seeing her siblings slowly going insane before dying whilst her prays goes ignored. Being surrounded by Rat and never seeing the light again. Until one day, she find a different crest that appears that isn’t Crest of Seiros. A built up Crest of Flame, that Nemesis, a corrupted Hero, a figure within the religious that hailed him as a Villain for being delighted in bloodshed, now appears. This would have shattered her belief since it would possible proof that the Goddess might not be real and that Crest aren’t gift at all. https://preview.redd.it/zdczl8tuth3b1.png?width=490&format=png&auto=webp&s=d2a2aeadb87d87bb5e6a370d914f08e3ceb9cc71 This whole break in faith becomes worst when you consider the Emperor, knowledge or rather text pass down through Emperor stating the truth about the war. That Nemesis wasn’t this figure of villainy the Church built up was just bandit. That the war between the Empire and Church / Nabataen vs Nemesis King of Liberation / Northern Fodlan and TWSITD ( a faction removed from history. ) wasn’t a holy war but instead dispute, a war over who would be in power. Before learning about the existence of Nabataen’s. https://preview.redd.it/xpq5rkzeuh3b1.png?width=359&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cb07946c5107850e8473a8c002b56a56e918a75 Here the teaspoon translation of the dialogue. Edelgard faith in the Goddess and in the Church as it stands is something that basically got repeatedly stamp and made her look like a fool. As she learn 70-80% of the Truth about the war of Heroes. The only part she is missing is the original spat war between TWSITD and Nabatean and how side has suffered such as the genocide on both races but which point does it stop mattering, ( Genocide is bad and there nothing excusing it but it clear within the narrative that both Argarthan or Nabataen are as bad as each other. ) The continue war and manipulation between two faction has gone on for over 1000 years to Edelgard with both side showing they are more then content willing to use those around them. Rhea and Seteth willing to censor information and abuse their position and the Church monopoly in order to keep their ivory tower and to keep their version of “peace.” ( As CF, WC, SB and the introduction of 3 Hopes shows. ) Whilst TWSITD are TWSITD, it clear the spat battle will continue until either sides are completely gone. Just like the Edelgard debates ffs. But getting back on topic, the shattering of Edelgard faith would have caused a both trauma for her as well as a changes in ideology when it comes to the faith. In that her views has becomes negative. I am just going to post a good chunk of her support with Manuela from Teaspoon Translation but I want people to remember something and that is at times. Edelgard speaks about subtle about speaking herself as well as her previous self. In most cases, she is quite negative. https://preview.redd.it/bx6yt32muh3b1.png?width=362&format=png&auto=webp&s=76f061ad8f8a6d10ca34289b53561deb57897b39 https://preview.redd.it/cjdj8ltpuh3b1.png?width=367&format=png&auto=webp&s=717366f8e12dffbd1d1beecaf5d2324d718a2eb8 https://preview.redd.it/svroa0druh3b1.png?width=363&format=png&auto=webp&s=8f7ecd46562a0a297f89a73b73c6608eb9fe9055 Edelgard belief in the current Church of Seiros is negative, seeing the corruption within it and understanding that the only way to fix the issues is to start again. https://preview.redd.it/3kde4ehtuh3b1.png?width=481&format=png&auto=webp&s=3e566a36e2afdb87fb57325de3697a9e952c6632 Something that she sorta does in 3 Hopes to an extent by reforming the Southern Church. (Varley is only in the position he is in is because Edelgard and Hubert needed to find a way to keep him busy and to use him as a Assassination pawn for the Church to try and kill as in 3 House, he under house arrest imply which implies a lot of things. All of them negative ) Edelgard faith in the goddess is gone. Now onto the last traumatic. Traumatic event 4: TWSITD continual existence. This one is the most easier to explain as they are Edelgard abuser, their return in SB causes Edelgard trauma to return and for her to relive the events. Something that is really understated by I feel the community is how well written SB is and how good Edelgard support Bernadetta is as it delivers into the both character trauma. Edelgard partly see the trauma, the nightmares and fears she received from TWSITD and their experiment as a curse, believing that because she beat TWSITD and that they are gone for a while, that her curse has been lifted, the same way Bernadetta trauma / curse has been lifted due to Varley situation at the Monastery, fearing assassination attempt, Bernie being away from him as well as surrounding herself with her friends. Until the ticking bomb within SB narrative explodes and TWSITD causing Edelgard trauma / curse to resurface. Something that Edelgard tries to hide from her friends around her, only for Bernadetta to see through Edelgard, seeing the trauma / curse eat away at her, relating to Edelgard and her issues. Understanding the negative emotion Edelgard is feeling, the Hyperarousal we talked about earlier you may say. Hyperarousal (feeling "on edge") Someone with PTSD may be very anxious and find it difficult to relax. They may be constantly aware of threats and easily startled. This is one of Fire Emblem best support and this is totally not my next post. But yeah, because of th situation Edelgard find herself in. Her trauma continues. Does Edelgard have PTSD? Short answer, yes she does in fact C-PTSD. She suffers from a lot of the symptoms. Long Answer, still yes. Edelgard as through both games, it clears she suffers from a lot of the symptoms like: - Re-experiencing
- Nightmares
- Flashbacks
- physical sensations, such as pain, sweating, feeling sick or trembling
- Avoidance and emotional numbing
- A key part of Edelgard relationship with Bernadetta and especially Byleth is the idea of numbing one feels. Edelgard in WC actively tries to numb her feeling in attempt to not become overly emotion. One of her dislike is losing control of Emotion.( Treehouse got rid of the Emotion parts. ) As well as distancing herself from other due to said trauma and because of Hubert fearing for her safety because own trauma
- Her whole B support with Byleth is about Edelgard losing her emotion, losing the human part of herself. That is point behind Heart of Ice line, the JP version implied this but it was sorta lost in translation because Treehouse but also by the community. It why when understand the themes of the route that her scene of painting Byleth, a friend of her becomes much more impactful as she is allowing herself to do an activities that isn’t work related as is a hobby. ( 3hopes makes it clear Edelgard doesn’t relax or takes break enough. )
- Hyperarousal (feeling "on edge")
- irritability
- angry outbursts
- sleeping problems (insomnia)
- Other problems
- Phobias like with Rat but most notably her thalassophobia, which fear of bodies of water. Which is mostly likely caused by her Trauma, Ironically at the hands of Thalas.
- Destructive behaviour. ( Hegemon, her lack of self-worth, etc. )
- PTSD sometimes leads to work-related problems and the breakdown of relationships.
- Edelgard also suffers from memory lost because of the traumatic
It clear Edelgard suffer from a lot of symptoms and it best to say that her trauma is C-PTSD because it very much was continues. She went from traumatic event to another, whilst we never fully got her feeling on the stay at the Kingdom since we can’t really use Dimitri as he is unreliable narrator because of his own trauma caused by both Faerghus system and the assassination attempt. It clear Edelgard feeling on the stay was mixed but it had one good thing in it being her time with Dimitri. But otherwise, Edelgard went from one traumatic event that basically beat her down, ripping apart both the people she loved and what she believed. The darkness kept getting darker for her until she was the only one left. Conclusion For the conclusion I want to talk about two things. First is how I guess how much more grounded her portray of PTSD is and I guess how inspiring it. But also I guess the issues people have with neither game focussed on Edelgard past. Ok first thing first, Edelgard portray is probably one of more ground of PTSD. It not hypermedialised ( I not sure if that the right terminology.) like Dimitri PTSD where it very much a toxic and bad portrayal of it similar to guess the Good Doctor and most other shows that has a Autistic character in my opinion.( Very much a problem that with Dimitri and AM writing. ) There a lot more people who suffer from issues or I disabilities that hide it that you wouldn’t know until getting to know the person. Edelgard C-PTSD is very much more subtle and less in your face even after you know about Edelgard issues as it put within her dialogue in a smart way. before you get to her C- support, you would never guess this girl who poses like this whilst wearing bright red tights: Processing img k8spqqwavh3b1... Would be suffering from trauma, no, you think she a prideful upper class nobles due to her clothing, Possibly to an egotistical degree. But the design and her writing work because it tears down all perceived idea you have on her character trauma. Edelgard mask and hide her trauma like most other people do. She cares about people not because it her job but because she actually gives shit about people and their lives and wants the best for them. And Edelgard view on her trauma which I will expanded on my next post is sorta inspiring because her thoughts ultimately goes. “My family are dead and I was experiment as well as countless others who were made victim by Fodlan issues. That is in the past, people are still suffering today and I refuse to allow more people to become victim and I am going to fight for both here and in the future so then they can makes a word based on their own agency, free from parties that made people in victim.” It inspiring because it a refusal to allow oneself to lose themselves in issues they are having. To continue fighting for a brighter future. Something that is actually constant theme and motif within Fire Emblem series and its a theme that CF and SB holds the most relevance to out of the routes in both games. And I feel like it hits most well here compared to previous FE games because of how much more personal and grounded the game tries to be. Secondly, I don’t think it a issues that neither CF or SB touches on Edelgard past either with showcasing her sibling and her relationship or seeing Ionius and Anselma true love for each other. ( Since it implied Anselma didn’t love Lambert and all that inconsistent stuff with AM, Hapi support and AG does with Anselma. ) Does it suck that we don’t get scene of Edelgard and her past. Yes, I do want to know more about her sibling and of the empire and it politics. But that a sign of a well written character, lore and story. The feeling of wanting more from it. CF and SB are very much stories that understand it what it going and cuts out all the extra fat that Fire Emblem normally has that ultimately takes away from the story. Both stories are about Edelgard, her war and focusing on the issues her and now and trying to improve things for the future. Going against opponents that either refuse to change or hold net negative belief or holds differ belief. Her going back onto the past while interesting, would hinder the tight pacing in both those routes when it comes to the media of video games. ( Focusing on the past is Dimitri things, even if it done badly in my opinion. ) Now if let say 3 House and Hopes get a anime, light novel or manga adaptation, then you can proper pacing the story much more because it being a passive form of media. As well as chose when you want to explore Edelgard and her past, making her the central character for let say the Episode, book chapter. Something that you could also do with other character like let say Claude and going into his childhood and his toxic relationship with his sibling. Or Dorothea and her trying to survive on the street. Or Valery abuse of Bernadetta. You can better explore this character and who they are in these media better then in video games. Crimson Flower and Scarlett Blaze in my opinion are the only routes that I feel would only be a net positive and wouldn’t have negative that would appear within their narrative unlike other routers. But I’m going to stop here as I basically shat on other routes and Dimitri for this segment. I hope people had a nice read and I hope everyone has a nice day. 2023.06.02 00:46 Ultim8_Lifeform Respect Clint Barton, Hawkeye! (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
"Clint. You should not be here."
"Really? I retire for, what, five minutes and it all goes to shit."
Clint Barton worked as one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents for a number of years under the codename Hawkeye, being put on various assignments from keeping an eye on notable items like Mjolnir and the Tesseract to the mysterious Budapest mission where he recruit Natasha Romanov to S.H.I.E.L.D.. These experiences led to him becoming a founding member of the Avengers despite his own claims of just being a regular guy with a bow. Hawkeye worked with the Avengers for several years, from Ultron's attack to the superhero civil war that saw the group falling apart at the seams. However, his life as he knew it was snatched away after the invasion of Thanos, which saw 50% of all life in the universe being erased including Hawkeye's entire family. Hawkeye took up the alias of Ronin, a vigilante that roamed the globe in a vengeful rampage to kill the many criminals that had survived Thanos' snap. He eventually rejoined the Avengers after they discovered a way to bring back everyone that had been erased, but the guilt from what he had done as a result of his grief still weighed on him even after his family had been brought back. It wasn't until he met his future protégé Kate Bishop that Clint's faith in himself and his efforts as a superhero were restored.

2023.06.02 00:35 CIassicNegan Please help. Cant find last 3 collection chests.
I found all chests in hogwarts, including the vivariums. Also hunted down all butterflies with a guide. The only chests the map tells me I need are: 2 in feldcroft, 1 in Hogwarts valley. And i cant find them. All locations have been cleared.
I think I am having a glitch with the butterfly chests. Because in feldcroft, I have 20/22 chests. If I add all the chests from irondale, feldcroft, the catacoombs and bandit camps, I get to 20. I know there are supposed to be 2 butterfly chests in feldcroft, so i think “what else could it be?” Either those butterflies just don’t appear, or I have them already and the map is bugged.
Please help. Last things i need to collect. Would suck if it got bugged.
