2023.06.02 10:23 Odd-Process-7291 [Tenant US-PA] Is there a time when it is considered unacceptable for a landlord to come over even with a notice?

We rent an apartment in PA, and were notified last week that the landlord would be coming for a general inspection. No big deal at all... we keep our place fairly well kept. We did a little organizing and we're good.
I work night shift. So I sleep during the day. I stayed up for as long as I could waiting for her so she could check our bedroom if needed, but eventually caved and went to bed as I still had to work that night. My wife works from home during the day so she was there waiting, and would wake me if they needed in our bedroom.
But the entire day went by and the landlord never arrived... until 9:30pm. Easily within the time that alot of tenants are getting ready or are already in bed. I was getting ready for work.
Is there some general time frame where it's then considered unacceptable for a landlord to come over for these things, even with a notice? The notice had no time listed on the letter.
We like our apartment, and the landlord is generally a very nice woman, but everyone in the building was texting each other all day wondering when this inspection was going to happen... only to have her rolling up around 10 at night. That seems a bit rude and insensitive to the tenants.

2023.06.02 10:22 katewhiteshark Finding sponsorship for EU blue card

Hi, 28F looking to move from US. Open to several EU countries (Netherlands, France, Spain, etc), as well as UK or Ireland. Already approved for EU blue card based on masters degree, just need a job offer. I am working as a physician assistant in the US, however, it’s a fairly new profession and opportunities for PA jobs outside of US are perhaps more limited than some other professions. Have been applying to some PA positions in UK (would qualify for Health and Care Worker visa there) Also applying to jobs where I can use my clinical expertise in a non-clinical setting, such as clinical consultant or medical science liaison for medical device or pharmaceutical companies.
I’m having NO luck with getting any response when applying to jobs outside the US. I have the EU blue card listed on my resume. Any advice or something I should be doing differently? Or does anyone know of any job boards I should be looking on that specialize in visa sponsorship. Any advice or resources appreciated!

2023.06.02 10:12 helicopter_mama2022 AITA for not wanting my bio dad to walk me down the aisle

TW: PTSD and NOT NICENESS My (25. F.) dad (48. M.), was... not very nice growing up. He would use a wooden spoon until that broke, then a plastic spatula. Once we were too old, then he would lock us in the closet. In the state of CA, once you turn 16 you can decide if you want to visit with your other parent. I was told told it was 18. He told my 2 biological sisters the truth but to never tell me because I wouldn't want to go see him. He would tell us that while we were visiting for the summer that my step mom was our mom. He told us, and I quote, "it's not cheating if you're not together. Your mom and I were never married" my mom showed me her marriage certificate and has my father's last name... I also have PTSD from him being not nice to us so no kink here. Once I turned 18 I had very little contact with him. Like texts 1 or 2 times a year. In 2022, I found out I was pregnant with my son. To be respectful, I called and told him before I announced it on Facebook. Throughout my pregnancy, he would ask for updates and how I was feeling and ultrasound pictures. I was utterly surprised he cared that much. Now, having my son, my dad has seen me 2 times in 6 months even though he lives across the country. That's the first time I've seen him in 7 years. I know he's trying to be a part of my son's life but I feel like he's making more of an effort because of my son and the fact that my fiancé and I will be having our wedding soon. I'm still recovering from all my childhood trauma and form a connection with my dad but it will take more than checking in and visiting 2 times. I'm planning on asking my step dad of 5 years to walk me down the aisle. He has done so much for me and my son. Helped me buy my first car, get a good job, find an apartment, and furnish it. I can't even explain how much he had helped and supported me since he found out I was pregnant. My son adores his grandpa (my stepdad).
So... am I the asshole?

2023.06.02 09:58 ezrasund Visiting my(f24) boyfriend(m26) for weeks is a bit tough

Hello everyone,
I kinda need a bit of help with something: In our relationship for a long time we visited each other 50/50 or maybe one person did a little bit more but that's alright. But due to the nature of our work when one person works that person can't be away. Last summer I spend 2 months in my boyfriends country because of that, one month was vacation and having covid, for one month he worked. It's always been a bit tough because I don't speak the language yet and don't have any social contacts so usually I try to entertain myself when he is away, work a bit and write some music- which is a lot of fun and I figured out how to do that for weeks without getting bored. Now comes my issue though: I just graduated university and my work starts in 2 weeks before that I had 3 months of. He had a very intense rehearsal period for two months, then the premiere and 3 days later the next rehearsal period started. He sure is going through a lot, it was a very difficult period for him and I tried to be there as much as I could. But yeah,, it really strained our relationship and I am exhausted. I did too much and didn't take care of myself enough which 100% is on me- I sadly noticed it too late. I kinda hoped that after that period things would change and there would be a bigger focus on us again and also on me, my life and my struggles I'm going through (work change, family stuff etc). It didn't and he is very exhausted from work. Now we had a relationship crisis mode, how he calls it, for 2 weeks where suddenly he wanted to open the relationship, had a crush on one of his actresses and things like that. We talked a lot, realized that he didn't say when he had an issue for a long time, didn't trust me in understanding it(that comes from his family dynamics, they don't talk about things because there is no understanding for problems) I prefer when he tells me instead of eating things up for weeks and then exploding like it happened now. Like I said, 2 week crisis mode, we talked a lot, solved a lot, reconnected, saw a couples therapist for the first time which I asked for for nearly half a year now and that was good!
So long story short: a lot of stressors in our life and he is in his final rehearsal period, one week is left. But because I was on my own in a place where I don't have a life apart from him ( I went out for a many coffees but every day seemed a bit much) I feel very lonely and yesterday when he had a long rehearsal, 1 hour commute to his work and football in the evening (a bit over 1 hour commute) I really longed for talking to him, also about my life. He was gone for about 10hours, maybe a bit more and when he came back it was close to midnight and I was already asleep but woke up. I know it's not fair to feel lonely but I wanted to ask if someone has tips on how to cope with this. Yesterday night I was a bit grumpy towards him but said that it wasn't on him but because of my own struggles and this morning he was very distant, when I asked about the plan for the day he said he doesn't know and doesn't want to spend time with me today.
i know that this is 100% on me because he also told me that I could just leave if I didn't feel like being here and am not okay with the amount of time we spend together. And outside of his rehearsals we spend a lot of time together the last two weeks- even though it was to solve this crisis thingy and reconnect- but yeah, it was a very draining period and I understand that for him it is so much worse because he works so much AND has me sitting at home who also wants to spend time consiously each day.
Basically I am asking what to do or what you did if you visited your partner for long periods when they were busy.
thanks everyone
little side note: we are planning on moving in together in two weeks in another country so it really is temporary but because of the long time before my brain somehow has difficulties accepting that this is just for 2 more weeks. He did say that when we move together he will spend less time with me not more, i said that's alright because there I will also have a life, I just need conscious moments each day

2023.06.02 09:05 john_thegiant-slayer I can't think of a clever title. Just know that I have C-PTSD, I'm queer, and I'm having a bit of a crisis about the state of the US

I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. I was doing so well before and now everything is just falling apart.
I have worked so hard on my recovery and healing and now the whole world, it seems, has decided to just fall to shit.
I can't fucking sleep because of the nightmares. I can't go to work because of the flashbacks. And now half the country (guess which half I'm in?) has decided that queer people need to be eradicated and are paving the way to do so...and I can't leave the house without worrying about being hate crimed.
There are no real safe spaces left and I'm hurting and I just want to enjoy my life and not have any more time spent on traumatic shit. Is that so much to ask? I've already had the first 20 years of my life stolen. Don't I have a right to some fucking peace?
I'm just so over it all.

2023.06.02 09:02 Alfoneye 20 Year old guy looking to start getting into Reading

As the title says I'm a 20 year old guy and just started reading books, I haven't read a book since high school, I normally watch a lot of movies but have run out of movies that I find interesting and don't have a predictable ending, I also have been trying to improve my life/mental health as I have been going through a rough time recently, I started on the path to self improvement with deleting most social media apps, apart from messaging apps to talk to friends, and have been focusing on my University Papers (CS), which seems to be helping. So mostly looking for recommendations that can help teach lessons, doesn't matter if it's fiction or non fiction.
I started last week with looking on reddit for some suggestions, I downloaded the E-book for The HitchHikers guide to the galaxy which I quite enjoyed, I also have finished "The Stranger" by Albert Camus which I also enjoyed. Yesterday I ordered a few physical books as I wanted to reduce blue light before bed, and ordered 3 books, The Alchemist (which I've now seen is not very well received on this platform), 1984, and Animal Farm, which I'm planning to get through in the next few-ish weeks.
I was wondering if you could suggest some books that I might like and find helpful based on my favourite movies being, Fight Club, Interstellar, Shutter-Island, Schindlers List, (in general quite long movies that make you think and teach lessons) and also like the Manga series Vinland Saga/Vagabond. I've tried to read "The Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius as I'm interested in the stoic way of life but I think it was too much of a big step into the world of Stoicism for a newbie.

2023.06.02 08:45 cream_trees The suburbs and the Republican party

Another u/cream trees rant
Anyway I feel like the main reason why suburbs are shifting so quickly to the left is simply because a lot of them are upper middle class socially liberal white people .
And the Republicans extreme social conservatism is slowly but surely turning them off to the Republican party.
And since the Democrats and Republicans have very similar fiscal stances both of them being fairly fiscally conservative they seem to be pretty okay starting to vote Democrat.
Which is why I feel if Republicans were to just moderate themselves on their social stances, things like abortion gay marriage trans issues ETC, they could very easily sweep the country.
Like the suburbs would probably most likely Fall back to the Republicans.
And they would probably also keep their gains in the rural areas.
And that would probably cause States like Ohio and Iowa to become deep Republican strongholds think Tennessee or Alabama type situation.
It would probably push Georgia and North Carolina back to the Republicans by like at least r + 10 or so.
Arizona and Nevada would also probably become pretty Republican as well.
They would definitely be able to gain ground in Oregon Washington and Illinois although I highly doubt they would ever win those States bar from extreme Republican wave years.
Michigan would probably become one of the more penultimate swing States while Pennsylvania and Wisconsin become red leaning.
Maine and New Hampshire would also probably slot themselves in the competitive category.
They would also probably be able to make some inroads in New Jersey and New York but again never win them again barring exceptional circumstances.
Maybe even some inroads in Connecticut Rhode Island and Delaware.
I think Colorado could also be slotted back into the competitive scene same thing with Virginia especially Virginia actually.
Texas would probably go back to its Republican stronghold. and New Mexico would probably slot itself in a more leaning Democratic position as opposed to its likely Democratic position currently.
I think the main reason for this would be because if Republicans took a relatively similar stance to more moderate Democrats on social issues apart from say immigration and guns it would be pretty hard to tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans as they have very similar fiscal beliefs and the only thing that would differentiate them from that point would be immigration and guns and the United States public has shown itself to be fairly conservative on both of those issues.

2023.06.02 08:38 teekal How different is your capital to rest of the country?

I would say that Helsinki and its urban area are vastly different to rest of Finland. There are over 660 000 people living in Helsinki proper and over 1,5 million in metropolitan area which is a lot in a country of 5,5 million people. For comparison, our second largest city of Tampere has about 250 000 inhabitants and 350 000 within its urban area.
Public transport is so good in Helsinki that less than half of people from Helsinki get their driver's license when they are 18 years old. About half of households do not own a car. This is a big difference to other areas of Finland - in the countryside and smaller towns there barely is any public transport.
The other difference is cost of living, which is significantly higher in Helsinki than other cities. It's not easy for young people to buy their first apartment in Helsinki.
Due to urbanization Helsinki seems to be changing all the time and new neighborhoods are built. The population is expected to exceed 700 000 by 2028.
Politically Helsinki is more liberal than rest of the country. For instance in parliamentary elections this year Finns Party (right-wing populists) got only 11,3% votes in Helsinki while they got 20,1% across all of Finland.

2023.06.02 08:33 ElectricalCoffee9981 Son chooses to make mother sleep on floor while she visits him in college.

My fiancé has a college age son (Chad). Her ex-husband and her share expenses for their sons college experience. Chad received a rather generous academic scholarship in the amount of $250K+ for 5 years at this southern university. The university is known for its football prowess. The scholarship afforded this young man the ability to live in an apartment style dorm room. Complete with its own bathroom kitchen and living room area as well as a bedroom. He shared this area with no one. My fiancé and her daughter 23F visited one fall weekend to attend a football game. They were unable to secure reasonable hotel accommodations as this area of the country lives and breathes football. Any available rooms were going for an ungodly rate per night. $500+ and even those were scarce the closer to game day it got. My fiancé already was in deep with airfare x2 car rental and game tickets x2 plus the number of meals she was expected to pay for. So she insisted that he accommodate them for a night during that weekend visit. She said she'd sleep on the floor if she had to. He begrudgingly obliged. Now we get to the part that has motivated me to ask Reddit. During her stay Chad actually made his mother sleep on the floor. I was blown away by the lack of respect shown. Is it me (Gen X) or is it what's to be expected from our adult children Millenial/Gen Z? My fiancé is bothered by it as well but has yet to address it with Chad. Is it too much to expect that Chad would offer up his full sized bed to his mother who shares half the costs associated with his adult college life experience? Thoughts???

2023.06.02 08:28 cutesytootsie10 Maingay na Kapitbahay

Hi, adultingph!
How do you deal with noisy neighbors?
I'm a CC agent, GY shift, and a tita so non-negotiable talaga for me ang uninterrupted, 8-hour sleep for the sake of my mental and physical health.
Tinitiis ko na for months yung neighbor ko na kung mgpablast ng speakers nya eh daig pa ng mga clubs. I actually didn't mind it at first because they have a good taste in music and I love me a music therapy from time to time.
Recently lang ako nag transition to working from home so I need to take it seriously this time kasi naririnig talaga sa calls yung music niya.
Confronted him earlier in a professional manner na he needs to lower down the volume.
"Kuya, pwede po ba pahinaan yung music nyo 🥺🤏🙏"
"BAKIT? 🤨"
"Nagtatrabaho po kasi ako-" (di ko matapos maayos na paliwanag ko kasi may sinsabi syang di ko naman naririnig kasi nga nakakabingi na music nya. Pagalit na yung mga sinasabi nya dito)
In retaliation nasabi ko, "Hindi lang naman ho kayo yung nakatira dito *nagsasmile ako dito pero sobrang hilaw kasi di ko inexpect na magagalit sya 🙃"
Andami na nyang nasabi pero di ko parin sya naririnig pero I know he's pissed that I asked him that favor.
Napasabi nalang ako ng, "😬 Kung gusto nyo po mag HEADSET nalang kayo 😬"
At ayun, hininaan nya.
Tbh sobrang na stress at nadrain ako dun sa confrontation na yun kasi I really try my best to have a positive energy and emanate positive energy as well.
Now, I can't sleep kasi I keep on thinking what are the things he might do if wala ako dito sa bahay kasi you never know people talaga and what if bukas continue parin sya sa pinaggagawa nya hayst 🥲

2023.06.02 08:06 OnodrimOfYavanna Quandary on egalitarian pay in a workers collective?

TLDR because my 11PM post is long: What is the anarchist response to the question; in a market collective with equal pay, where all people are putting forth equal effort, how do you fairly compensate someone performing a task that puts them in greater risk of bodily harm/greater sustained bodily harm then all the other workers. And if you pay them differently then the others, what does that say about the value of work?
Actual Post ______
I was having an interesting discussion with a friend tonight about egalitarian pay. He's fairly liberal, so believes people should get pay that is enough to live as a "dignified person in 2023" (whatever that means), but that there absolutely should be a stratification of wages based on value/effort/etc within a corporation, and that if anything it is un-egalitarian to pay equally.
Obviously I disagree, I run a tiny business, but I pay my one worker (until the day the day I can set up a legally operating collective farm in this country), the exact same pay I pay myself. If we ever expand to needing more help, I will be paying the new employee the same as well. If we make more then expected, what isn't used to expand the farm is paid back equally among everyone. I don't know how I would sleep at night any other way. I couldn't run my farm without them.
My argument is that within a capitalist framework of wages, a corporation cannot function without a chief executive OR a Janitor. Without either the corporation cannot continue its function. Without the CEO there is no one making strategic decisions (this is within the framework of the conversation, I cant bust out the illegitimacy of hierarchy when I'm just trying to defend equal compensation, let alone a moneyless community) and without a Janitor, everyone would have to take time away from their equally necessary tasks to perform building maintenance and cleaning before everything fell apart in 3 days of no janitorial services.
This was followed with the expected "well, the janitor can be more easily replaced then the engineer". I argued that this isn't a discussion about the value of their labor, but of the leverage of violence the employer has to remove them from that labor, thus allowing more exploitative wages to be paid.
This went back and forth for about an hour but he wouldn't cede any ground, because he believed that morally you cannot pay people the same. Then he pulled out this:
"If everyone in a corporation is working as equally valuable a position, with the same amount of effort, and without anyone trying to do less off the work of others, but one of those positions puts themselves in more bodily harm then the others, should I not pay them more? And if I should, then is there not a difference in the value of peoples work"
I found this tough. You cannot sway me that any job that requires more education or "intellect" is more valuable then any other, because those careers were achieved due to different privileges, socio economic backgrounds, racial and gender makeups, and born with aptitudes, things no one can control, but the JOB is created because of its need by the company, and as such is as valuable as any other. You wouldnt sacrifice your heart for your brain, either way you are dead. But arguing someone risking their bodily harm is a whole other issue, and one im at a loss to defend against higher wages.
Ultimately there should be no wages, and If I could turn this farm into an economically independent moneyless commune I would, but I cant.
Is there any anarchist argument on how to distribute wages within a market collective when someone is risking more then another?

2023.06.02 07:34 WildernessTech Trip food report: Egypt

Hey guys, I just did a 10 day history/culture Nile cruise and wanted to share some of my celiac adventures now that the world is opening up again.
Some caveats, Egypt was just getting its tourism feet under it when the revolution happened in 2011, and then really started to push that again just before the spicey cough hit everyone. So it really felt like I was dealing with a lot of established businesses who had recently replaced a lot of staff, I suspect that a lot of the really experienced front of house tourism folks got hit really bad by it, so the overall institutional knowledge level was lower than what I'd otherwise expect. That said, everyone was super eager to please, most spoke 2-3 languages.
I'll try to break this up into some manageable chunks.
Egyptian cuisine in general: There are a lot of influences, so you get a big mix of foods that are now part of the culture. Breakfast may well have been called Breadfast, because of the number of pastries and similar dishes. But in general they do a lot of grilled meat (halal obvs) and veggies. Spices are pretty direct/simple not a huge number of sauces or dips, so in general lunches and dinners were easy enough, and I'm generally just a coffee=breakfast guy anyway, but heaps of fruit were pretty normal as well.
First hotel, New Cairo Hyatt: massive breakfast buffets, pretty decent lunch and dinner options, I did my usual of "What's the easiest thing the chief can do gluten free" and got a steak and roasted veggies. They really didn't seem to have much ability to do GF baking, or have many good GF options, but again, it's a very new hotel and the staff are trying to learn the needs of their market.
Last hotel Cairo InterContinental: Older hotel, obviously hired in staff from other places in Europe to bring up the training level, waiters had really good knowledge of celiac requirements, and overall had great procedures for dealing with that in the restaurant (had some other problems resulting from new staff, but seemed to be a training issue, and again a massive buffet with almost nothing safe for breakfast)
Train: We did a sleeper train on two legs of the journey. No really safe options for food, think airline meal, but only one option for dinner, and breakfast was three types of bread. Thankfully we didn't have to waste much of the food, as we were able to find folks who wanted it. It's worth mentioning here that while there is a lot of poverty in Egypt, and it's clear who's living kinda rough, there is both a sense of pride and community that meant we saw very few people just begging for food, they were more likely to try to sell something (anything) to a tourist rather than just beg, but we were able to give out the extra food, and it was both appreciated and shared. I don't want to make it seem like it was better than it was, but for a country that has functionally not had a working government for 60 years, they still make things work and get stuff done. It's by far not an ideal situation, but it is what it is, and I ended up with lots of packaged breadrolls to give away. I was able to pick up a few packaged food things that were from the EU so had compliant labels, and that was fine.
Cruise: The Nile cruise had pretty good food selections, pretty big buffet, and the worst day for me had only two options, some grilled chicken and sauteed veggies. Generally, I also had rice or roast potato, and sometimes an option of two proteins, just depending on sauces and such. Very limited breakfast options, and no dedicated deep-fryer, so that did limit some things. No desserts at all apart from fruit.
Food at sites/ restaurants: Generally pretty good options, very upscale places, so good knowledge, but again, lots of buffets, so not ideal, two places were just straight grill/bbq sort of things, so that was fine.
Overall: So as I mentioned earlier, most of the people were super eager to please, and very accommodating, they also tended to speak more than one language. That being said, even though I had a printed celiac info card in Arabic, and a very good guide, there were some times where it was hard to understand if they were just agreeing to be agreeable, or really trying to inform me, or if they didn't really understand my concern at all. I did get tagged out by something at some point. Given that about a third of our tour group got some sort of gut bug, which I think I also got (but who can say for sure) it's hard to know. I was as careful as I reasonably could be, but when dealing with buffets and potential cross-contaminations, it was challenging. That being said, would I recommend a similar trip for anyone else? Yeah, I would. You just need to know yourself, if you have debilitating symptoms, then probably not, but if you can generally manage, then it's likely worth the overall risk. The tour companies and people will get better with time. As I said, something got me, but have no idea what, and realistically it may not have been a gluten reaction, it's very possible that I got a bug early on in the trip and just toughed it out until I medicated near the end (I can be somewhat stubborn). That said, they do "tipped" toilets so having cash on hand for toilets is a thing, they like their bidets, which is kinda good when the guts are not great, and pack a lot of your own tissues/sanitizer. It was really hit-and-miss what places would have no TP, and there was no real way to predict it. The toilets were generally pretty clean when we found them, but again, not always. The general rate was 10EGP but ranged from 5-20 to use a toilet outside of the major hotels, and airport. It was a general annoyance to everyone on the trip, but not enough to be a major problem. I think everyone was more bothered about how many tips were needed that were not really explained by the travel agents, but it wasn't a huge cost factor. Also, we could have gotten away with just handling all that in Euro or USD, in fact, if we were to go again, I'd try to get all the tour costs priced in USD and take that, as it was harder to get EGP in Australia (but we are getting well off topic now).

2023.06.02 07:34 Unionist- [IWantOut] 25M Australia -> France

My wife (Irish EU citizen) and I are moving from Australia to Paris in 2 months. We already have a proper 12 month lease for an apartment, but were both planning to look for jobs when we get to France. I can enter on a 3 months Schengen visa as an Australian, but need to apply for a residence card as a family member of a European to get the right to stay longer than 3 months and to work.
The service-public.fr website says that I need to provide "Proof of the right of residence of the European you are joining in France (e.g. employment contract, proof of resources, health insurance, student card)". We have plenty of resources and will get health insurance and have a proper lease, however I'm not sure whether I can't apply for or won't be given a residence permit if my partner doesn't have a job yet.
I'm worried that I only have a right to stay there for 3 months, and that if my partner doesn't get a job straight away, I'll be unable to work for a long time (we can afford this - just preferable to not use savings), or worse, that if she doesn't get a permanent full-time job within 3 months my Schengen visa will expire before being meeting residency requirements and I'll have to leave the country.
Does anyone have any information on what exactly a European citizen needs to do to prove residency in France so that their non-European partner can get a residence permit? Thanks.

2023.06.02 07:11 ExperienceNeat571 WIBTA for confronting my friends when it could cause a fight?

Sorry this is long:
I (22) have been in a friend group since 11. Our group had a pretty nasty split. Me and one of the other girls confronted the whole group about saying we were devil's advocates for transphobes because I saw the crazy thing on the news about certain laws and wanted to know if the others knew about it and discuss what our congress was doing.
They didn't want to hear it so it was dropped but then they brought up something in the news about race and class and me/the other girl didn't want to hear it but it was ignored. This caused a falling out. Everything ended with me just removing myself from the app we were group chatting on. Some girls apologized and we created a smaller chat for us while they also stayed in the main one.
Then a few months later, friend A was having a party because we were all in town from college. I found out that the others in the main chat were talking a lot about me behind my back. They were upset that some of the girls were still friends in a separate chat with me and I divided the group and I'm a destructive person. And I shouldn't be invited to stuff unless I reach back out to everyone to reconnect. Friend A listened. I wasn't invited to stuff for a year and I didn't know.
Later she did invite me to a different party and I actually made up with 2 of the girls. I thought it was good but I have noticed no one answers in the small chat when I text now (We had promised to text every Wednesday to keep in touch with no pressure). Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, Taylor Swift was having a concert in our hometown. Everyone knows I'm home right now because of stuff. No one in the small chat told me they were here or asked if I was home, which they used to do.
I found out they all went together to the concert from Insta. Then they all left and no one texted me. I was bummed and didn't text in the chat for 2 weeks now and no one has texted at all or asked if there's a reason I haven't.
It kind of feels like they don't care about our friendship since they still text on the main one and hang out with each other. I know two or three of them are all getting an apartment together in another city.
I'm weary about talking to them because the group doesn't really handle these issues well and I've been on the receiving end of this twice so I don't know if I should even say anything. They'll probably be mad again.
WIBTA for confronting them about it and asking if we're friends anymore knowing it might cause another fight?
P.S: They did make an anti-me club back when younger but they hadn't done anything since then so this isn't really a pattern with them. And yes the girls that didn't apologize have also had a problem with a few girls in our group who are all the same race as me but... idk.

2023.06.02 06:56 pompousepistemophill “U need to strengthen up” “Cheer up” “U do not look well”

How would you reply? How would you react?
Context: I’m 27, F - relocated back to home country (Hong Kong) due to Covid after 8 years in the UK. First language English, educated inHK, Mainland China, USA & UK.
Father: moves from mainland to HK at a young age, taught himself English and is a self made and accomplished businessman. He is in his 60s. He was very conservative and traditional. He continues to grow.
2021/02 Started Pole Dancing, which became the foundation of my mental well-being for the next two years.
It fulfilled my social needs, gave me a reason to wake up and leave the house, an interest and hobby to develop, and new ways to somewhat love myself.
2022/07 Finally started a job in my field that would lead me back to my original intended career, albeit with a long and tedious detour.
Life is stable. Regularly pursuing a hobby. Social life relatively decent.
2022/10 Recognised symptoms returning, and reached out to FM. Found out he had suddenly retired. Asked for records for a smooth transfer, told they were all destroyed.
Workload became hectic somewhere around this point too.
With my sleep becoming irregular, I often worked late into 3+AM.
2023/02 Suddenly had really bad pain despite no heavy training nor accidents - diagnosed as some cluster of injuries, recommended not to use right arm even in daily life.
Life began to fall apart.
Soon relapsed into depression, much worse than before. 13 hours per week of training became 0. My life revolved around work and doctor appointments. Each doctor said different things. I started to give up.
I did find a new psychiatrist, since 2023/01. I had also entered a relationship (since I was in stable health).
Work fell apart. Life fell apart. Hygiene neglected. Nutrition neglected. Routines disturbed. Hypersomnia and insomnia. Etc.
05/26 Finally started dancing again, life began to somewhat become regular - apart from sleep.
Today, having not slept due to insomnia, I had a migraine - so I did the usual, block sources of light and sound.
My father threw a tantrum for me putting up a screen to block light. And he said this.
AITA here?
Attached - conversations. I no longer dine with them, and have not for a long time.
I am tired of having to be the one to teach, explain and reassure him.
AITA?
What what you do?
Moving out is not feasible nor realistic at this point as I am looking for new opportunities. I already avoid contact 99%. I’m tired.
Thanks & sorry for the spam.
