2023.03.28 12:56 TheSwedishElf EMERGENCY, I need to know if I can save my damaged 3DS!

I don't know how many people would remember me bringing it up before, but for a long time there was a crack running around the shoulder part of my 3DS's shell. I got J-B PlasticWeld for it, but I was nervous about using it and put it off until I could practice with something else to be sure it was the right solution. Well, recently I went to finally do it and couldn't find the PlasticWeld anywhere, so I decided to put a little strip of electrical tape over the area to secure it until I could get more. And now, yesterday I discovered a huge diagonal crack that appeared out of nowhere and joined the existing crack to fully take that section off. I legitimately panicked and nearly cried, and I hope it's my imagination but I thought I felt the top screen acting like it could come off if I wasn't extremely careful. On my mother's advice, I put a tiny bit of clear nail polish over part of the crack as a temporary solution, and after making my final eShop purchases, I closed and securely stored it and won't be using it until I can order more PlasticWeld in a few days and hopefully fix it. Now I just need to know, will the PlasticWeld still fix this? Will it still be able to securely bond everything back together, and have I or have I not messed up further with the nail polish move? I'll be inconsolable if I lose my 3DS and everything on it to this because I was so stupid and waited on fixing it, so I just need to know it's not too late. And PLEASE don't just tell me "replace the entire shell", I cannot do this, it absolutely WOULD result in me wrecking the whole thing, no local services are doing it, and if they were it'd cost over $100.
Please, just let me know I can still fix my beloved 3DS and I'm not a terrible owner...

2023.03.28 12:56 Alaazaal96 A GUIDE TO VISITING DURING RAMADAN IN AQABA

Most people say that Aqaba is one of the friendliest city to visit, especially for those who are interested in learning more about Middle Eastern cultures and way of life. Nevertheless, arranging a trip becomes more difficult for one lunar cycle each year since the 96% of Muslims observe Ramadan and its associated limitations.
Ramadan is a great time to visit to Aqaba, but there are a few things to bear in mind. You must make reservations for excursions and meals and practice being a more culturally aware visitor than usual if you want to see the City of Aqaba during Ramadan. Assuming you are not a Muslim, Jordanians are unlikely to criticize you if you breach Ramadan customs, but by changing your own conduct while there during Ramadan, you will strengthen the bond between Jordanian and your own cultures.
Visit Aqaba during the holy month of Ramadan if you want to feel, live, and experience more of the traditional life and culture of the region. You have a fantastic opportunity to see the effects that this month has on people and the environment throughout this unique month. You don’t need to worry too much about what to do in Aqaba during Ramadan because it will be almost same to traveling at other times of the year with added benefits.
The holy month of Ramadan is when Muslims worldwide observe fasting. The Islamic lunar calendar determines when the holy month officially begins each year. Most nations do not sell alcohol to non-Muslims during Ramadan, with the exception of bigger hotels. Just for Muslims, eating, drinking, and smoking in public are not encouraged during daytime hours. Visitors are respectfully asked to refrain from these activities in public during the fasting hours. https://jordan-travel.com/ramadan-in-aqaba/
Working hours
Several shops, banks, and offices open late at 9:00 and close early at 14:00 during Ramadan. Nobody will expect you to fast in several Arab nations including Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine/Israel, and Egypt. All of the aforementioned nations are accustomed to seeing visitors, and whether or not you practice Islam, you will find that the locals are quite accommodating of the idea that you may not be a Muslim and are not fasting. Tourists are not expected to fast, and it is not required by law. Hence, even if it is Ramadan in these nations, you may always have a good time since Arabs are really kind and understanding people. https://jordan-travel.com/ramadan-in-aqaba/
DO THEY CELEBRATE RAMADAN IN JORDAN?
Many visitors to the popular Middle Eastern destination are uncertain if Jordanians observe Ramadan. Indeed, it is the solution. Aqaba, a city with a large Muslim population, observes Ramadan, and its people follow the customary religious customs.
Let me first give a basic explanation of what Ramadan is and what it means to the people before we get into the specific factors visitors to Jordan should take into account when going during this holy month.
Ramadan, often spelled Ramadhan or Ramzan, is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar during which Muslims all around the globe observe a sawm, or 24-hour fast, from dawn to dusk. They also refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking, and having sexual relations while they are fasting.
The festival, which is one of Islam’s Five Pillars, begins with the first sighting of the crescent moon and lasts for 29 or 30 days. Muslims see the latter third of Ramadan as having the highest spiritual value because it marks the occasion when the angel Jibrl (Gabriel in English) gave the Prophet Muhammad the first verses of the Koran (Qur’an).
WHEN IS RAMADAN IN JORDAN?
The Islamic calendar’s ninth month is always when Ramadan takes place. Nevertheless, because Islam follows the lunar calendar, which is shorter than the solar one, the exact day changes every year. Ramadan so begins 10–12 days earlier each year.
Please note that these are only approximate dates; the actual dates of Ramadan will be established closer to the dates depending on the phases of the moon. In 2023, Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23, and finish on Saturday, April 22 in Jordan. https://jordan-travel.com/ramadan-in-aqaba/
TOURS & ACTIVITIES
Tourist destinations in Aqaba are open every day, and you can schedule trips to visit any of them just as you would at any other time of the year. Be aware that tour guides and drivers will be fasting and praying, so expect them to work fewer hours to accommodate these activities. https://jordan-travel.com/ramadan-in-aqaba/
Also, you could notice that they don’t have as much energy.
RESTAURANTS
One of the nicest things to do in Aqaba is to eat Jordanian food, but you might be concerned that you won’t be able to do so if it’s Ramadan and everyone is fasting.
Generally speaking, during Ramadan, Aqaba eateries are closed during the day. At popular tourist destinations and upscale hotels, you can always find eateries or grocery shops that are open and provide food to non-Muslims. Before the iftar meal, restaurants do stay open later to provide takeout.
You won’t locate any open booze outlets throughout Ramadan. The only places that are allowed to offer alcohol are hotels with bars, so finding one of them is your sole option for getting a drink.

2023.03.28 12:54 MuffinUpbeat7888 Asking GPT 4 to help me get into college

Well I got into several colleges with scholarships but i still can’t afford it. So I explained my situation to GPT 4 to help me study abroad. Here is the response:
I understand your situation and will do my best to help you find a way to study abroad. Here's a step-by-step comprehensive plan that you can follow to increase your chances of securing a full ride or a heavily subsidized education in Business:
Research universities with generous financial aid: Some universities in the US, Canada, and Europe offer need-based financial aid or scholarships to international students. Make a list of such universities and prioritize those with late application deadlines or rolling admissions. You can start with these schools:
Universities in Germany: Most public universities in Germany offer tuition-free education to international students, with only a nominal semester fee. Universities in Norway: Public universities in Norway provide free education to both local and international students. Universities in Eastern Europe: Countries like Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic have affordable education options. Look for external scholarships and grants: Research and apply for scholarships from external organizations, foundations, or government-sponsored programs aimed at international students. Some websites to search for scholarships include:
International Scholarships (www.internationalscholarships.com) Fastweb (www.fastweb.com) ScholarshipPortal (www.scholarshipportal.com) Prepare a strong application package: Even if you consider yourself an average applicant, you can stand out by emphasizing your strengths and demonstrating your motivation to study. Focus on the following:
Write a compelling personal statement or essay, highlighting your background, goals, and what makes you unique. Obtain strong letters of recommendation from teachers or employers who can vouch for your abilities and dedication. Showcase any extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or leadership experience that demonstrate your commitment and potential in the field of Business. Contact universities directly: Reach out to admissions offices of the universities you are interested in, explain your situation, and ask about late application opportunities and financial aid options. Be polite and professional in your communication.
Consider a community college or online programs: If you're unable to secure a full ride or significant financial aid, consider attending a community college or enrolling in an online program. These options can be more affordable, and you can later transfer to a four-year university to complete your Bachelor's degree.
Utilize resources from the your country’s government or local organizations: Reach out to your local government, educational institutions, or NGOs for guidance and support. They may have resources or connections that can help you achieve your goal.
Prepare for next year's application cycle: If you're unable to find a suitable option for this year, start preparing for the next application cycle. Use the time to improve your English proficiency, gain work experience, or engage in extracurricular activities that will strengthen your profile.
Remember, persistence and determination are key in this process. Stay focused and keep looking for opportunities. Good luck!

Here are some tips to help you choose the right type of fashion for your style:
1.Determine your personal style:
Before choosing any type of fashion, it's important to understand your personal style. Consider your personality, lifestyle, and preferences. Are you into classic, minimalistic, bohemian, or edgy styles? Knowing your personal style will help you make informed decisions when selecting clothes.
2.Consider the occasion:
Different occasions call for different types of fashion. For instance, formal events require dressier outfits while casual events allow for more relaxed clothing.
3.Experiment with different trends:
Don't be afraid to try out new trends, but do so in a way that still fits your personal style. Incorporate trends in small ways, such as with accessories or statement pieces, before committing to a full-on trend.
4.Invest in high-quality pieces:
While it can be tempting to opt for cheaper clothing, investing in high-quality pieces will save you money in the long run. Look for well-made items that will last for years, rather than fast fashion that falls apart after a few wears.
5.Choose versatile pieces:
When building your wardrobe, focus on versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched in different ways. This will allow you to create a variety of outfits with fewer items.
6.Don't be afraid to experiment:
The best way to find out which type of fashion is right for you is to experiment with different styles until you find something that feels like a good fit. It's okay to make mistakes along the way - that's part of the fun! Just remember to have fun with it and stay true to yourself, and you'll find the perfect fashion style for you in no time.
There are several ways to find the right fashion style for you. One way is to look at magazines and see what styles celebrities and models are wearing. Another way is to look online at fashion blogs and websites to see what styles are popular. You can also go to your local mall or department store and try on different styles of clothing to see what looks good on you. Once you find a few styles that you like, you can then start shopping for clothing in those styles.

2023.03.28 12:52 Gojirex I miss it

This might be a bit of a strange post, but here it goes. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I’m 26 and I haven’t been part of the church since I was 11. I was on YouTube and saw a video by “TheAmazingAtheist” called “10 Reasons God Doesn’t Exist” or something like that, and I was like “bet. My faith is super strong. Look at this idiot, let’s do this.”
On the 3rd or 4th reason my world began to sink. Of course it’s not real. It just makes sense. It’s so obviously fake, and I couldn’t even make the argument to myself “well maybe it’s just Christianity” because it’s all the same shit, same foundation anyway.
Well I didn’t realize it until recently, but that day forward my life was forever different. I’ve had some really low days in my teenage years, I got very depressed quite frequently, it was just a medical thing, there was no reason for me to feel this way, I just did. I wasn’t unhappy, I just felt nothing. I felt like this all the time around age 19 or 20.
So I had to make changes to myself and my mental outlook, and I have. I’m not depressed anymore, and I’m usually quite content in life and with myself. But no matter how long the breaks get each time, I’d always end up in that place again. It was guaranteed. And the last time I did it was a few weeks ago.
I don’t have anything concrete or stable to hang onto in the universe. Everything eventually goes away. And I now realize that the last time I was truly, blissfully happy was when God loved me. It was such a powerful feeling, and if I stayed Mormon all that time, I probably wouldn’t be able to imagine life without faith. No matter how bad things got when I believed, I could always pray. He was there for me and always loved me. It was real to me, the effects it had on me were real. All created by my brain. And knowing that has ruined any shot at believing ever again. I just can’t believe things on faith, it’s not a choice, I’d just be lying to myself and I know it. I really do miss it.

2023.03.28 12:52 verykick Help me to stand up again.

Yesterday i was on an edge of life and eternity. I lost my parents when i was 18. Since then i ve lived alone. I was extremely rich, i was going to the best university in the country. I had everything that money can buy. I lived in 3 different countries all over the world. I know 3 languages, also can play 2 instruments. I was not super happy but i was ok. Not too great not too too bad. I met with a girl who had fallen love with me for 15 years from university. We started to dating. We dated 2 years. Then she left me. Her psychology is also bad like me. I healed my self. I was always thinking about her during this seperation but also i lost 45kgs, i have no job but i trained my self to be able to get in a decent job. I was pretty good. Everyday every second i was thinking about her but this would pass. Anyways after 10 months of seperation she came again and told me that she did a mistake. We dated 3 months more. I became extremely happy. I saw the world like i can beat anything. I can marry her bla bla. I have never feel that much happy the day she came back to me. She left me again. This time i went crazy. I lost my sanity. Because without her nothing seems have any meaning. I can't find a job, i can't be friends with anyone, i even can not find a girl like her. I am a decent guy, good looking, have hobbies, got talent in my field. But i don't have a job. Maybe if i had a job nothing will seems like this. Because she has a job, ton of friends and other stuff. So she doesn't suffer as much as me. Anyway yesterday i swallow a handful of pills. I wrote a letter to her. Send message to friends and started to wait. But my doorman broke my door and entered my home. Ambulance took me to the hospital and they inserted a 1-meter pipe from my nose to my stomach. They washed my stomach (i don't know the exact term). I was no body there, too. Nor her neither my cousins (i dont see them too much but they are my only family remain).
When i got back to home i thought about it. Maybe instead of giving up maybe if i continue what i was doing when we were not seeing each other and if i add "this relationship is end, never ever you wont be together", maybe i can success this time. Because yesterday was terrible. The amount of pain physically, feeling lonely too much, that she didn't come to see me if i am ok. These are all unbelievably big bad emotions. I tried to lose all of my hope towards to the life. And yesterday i lost it and did it. I do not regret. I saw this. I dont know why but i am trying to find a place in my soul where i can find some peace. And the only thing missing in my life is work in a job. A decent job. Everyday that i go, talk to my co-workers, and being in the outside. Maybe this will make me good. I have a psychiatrist that i see her regularly. She will also help during my process. I am trying not to think about my ex. The most important step is this i guess. Because if i think i will dive deep into the cycle i can never get out of it. And like yesterday i will try to end my life. Everything seems unimportant without her.
Thank you for listening. Please give me some advice about my life.

2023.03.28 12:51 Comfortable-Ad6217 Learning, get lower grit to add to hard arkansas?

Hi,
TLDR; should I get a synthetic 800 (400?) grit stone to add to my Hard Arkansas stone? Data I found compares it to around 1500 grit. Or is that close enough to medium grit that this is all I need to learn on?
Long: Just starting to learn. Watched many YT tutorials at this point and read the wiki here.I got a hard arkansas stone from Skerper for christmas, I assume from knivesandtools. After trial and error for the better part of 2 hours I managed to make a WMF Classic line chef knife sharper and a paring knife with dings and chips sharper. Didn't really feel the burr that I expected but they are sharper. And can now cut paper. Used the sharpie method and tried to test on my nail.
With a hard arkansas stone will this take that much longer cause its '1500' grit and should I invest in a coarser stone that won't break the bank to add to it? Perhaps the King 800/6000 combo that I see on many knife shops. Kinda pointless getting a shapton 1k on top of this, right?
My wife bought some kind of mineral oil but I've only used water on it so far and soaked it first. Since it's a natural stone I didn't see any bubbles, any point in soaking it? Is Water fine or should I learn with oil ? Once you go oil you can't go back easily I assume... She only ever learned to sharpen her art tools during her master years never a knifes edge, her teachers always said use oil. So no experience with water stones. She recently got many hand me down stones from another artist that have no indication on them what grit they are. But I think many if not all of them were used with oil for the sharpening of the art tools (lithography, etsing, etc). Perhaps there is also a coarser stone in this collection. How can I test it? Visually?
Also getting addicted to jknives window shopping so perhaps I will get a VG10 or R2 japanese knife for my birthday soon-ish as a first one. I can continue using these stones for japaense steel too right?

2023.03.28 12:49 Alaazaal96 CULTURE AND SIGHTSEEING IN AQABA

Jordan’s lone coastal city, which also serves as the nation’s sole seaport, is located on the Gulf of Aqaba. Aqaba sees a fair amount of tourists being the gateway city to the well-known Wadi Rum desert landscapes and is known for having a diverse marine life in its warm Red Sea waters. Aqaba is a coastal town with Jordanian charm that is located on the southernmost tip of Jordan, about 4 hours from the country’s capital of Amman. Aqaba is a lovely addition to the urban charm of Amman, offering the neighborhood bars, water sports, and a historical flare for those seeking to travel back in time.
THE EARLY ISLAMIC CITY OF AYLA
About 650 AD, the Rashedi Caliph Othaman Ben Afan founded the early Islamic city of Ayla, which is noteworthy for being the first Islamic city to be established outside of the Arabian Peninsula. It operated as a port for neighboring Palestine and a storage facility for the Hejaz. On their trip to Mecca, Egyptian pilgrims once made a halt in Ayla, which was a significant location. Nowadays, you can still see the ruins of the city walls, gates, a sizable mosque, and other structures right in the middle of Aqaba’s coastal hotel sector. The location is clearly recognized and contains panels with facts about its significance and history. https://jordan-travel.com/culture-in-aqaba/
AQABA CASTLE
The early 16th century is when the Mamluk stronghold was constructed, according to an ancient inscription. The entryway is flanked by semi-circular towers, and the Hashemite family crest is visible above it. Visitors to the resort may easily access and are near to the excavation of the medieval city of Ayla.
It is accessible at any time of day. Every street in Aqaba has a story to tell. Jordan’s history may be seen at the Aqaba Fort. It was first found in the area where Mamluke Sultan Qanswah el-Ghawri reigned (1501–1517 AD). The fort was utilized and updated by a number of historical dynasties, including the Mamluks and Ottomans.
Early Church at Aqaba
Archaeologists in Aqaba have discovered what they think to be the world’s oldest church, dating from the late third century AD, in one of the most intriguing recent findings. It predates both the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, both of which were built in the fourth century. The church, which is located on a parcel of land to the east of Istiklal Street, has been backfilled with dirt for security.
AQABA CULTURAL CENTRE
The early 16th century is when the Mamluk stronghold was constructed, according to an ancient inscription. The entryway is flanked by semi-circular towers, and the Hashemite family crest is visible above it. Visitors to the resort may see the old city of Ayla’s excavation near Aqaba. It is accessible at any time of day.
AQABA ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
The Sherif Hussein Bin Ali residence in Aqaba is home to the Aqaba Archaeological Museum, which welcomed visitors in 1990. Today, it is home to a significant collection from the Islamic site of Ayla, which dates to the Rashidun, Umayyad, Abbasid, and Fatimid periods, i.e., the Islamic periods from the middle of the 7th to the beginning of the 12th century AD.
ARAB REVOLT PLAZA
The Great Arab Rebellion Plaza serves as the culmination of your tour of Aqaba’s historic landmarks. This enormous area is said to be the perfect getaway for tourists since it’s a terrific place to unwind and take in views of the middle beach. The Plaza’s historical significance is what makes it so significant. It embraces the Great Arab Revolt banner and Al Hussein Bin Ali’s home, the Arab Revolution’s leader. Being the first Jordanian territory that the forces of the revolution under Al Sharif Hussein bin Ali set foot on, it carries a profoundly significant national connotation. Moreover, it was the location of the first shot fired during the Arab Uprising.
SHARIF HUSSEIN BIN ALI MOSQUE
Hussein bin Ali, who presided as Sharif and Emir of Mecca from 1908 until 1917, is honored by having the mosque bear his name. During the First World War, Al Sharif Hussein Bin Ali, who is credited with starting the Arab Revolt, fought against the Ottoman Empire’s growing nationalism. https://jordan-travel.com/culture-in-aqaba/
Al Hussein Bin Ali mosque is a symbol of Islamic architecture and a stirring sight among the bustle of city life with its immaculate white construction, exquisite glass windows, and rising minarets. Among the mosques in Jordan, it also has the biggest dome. For the people of Aqaba, it serves as their primary mosque. The city’s everyday life is observed at its most serene and pious during visitors’ peaceful strolls around the exquisite interior. https://jordan-travel.com/culture-in-aqaba/

2023.03.28 12:48 BestWheel7068 Even if religious experiences ARE entirely caused by and localized in the brain, that doesn't mean spirituality is bad or that there is no "god" of any kind.

I think there is substantial evidence that at least most of the religious experiences people experience are caused by and located in the brain. But it's not 100% provable that all are.
I don't know how the universe works. I might just like a cell in the universe, just as there are cells in my body.
I really hope that once I die, what ever part of "me" that is experiencing this consciousness will live on in some way.
Seeing as how we can't prove that doesn't happen, even if spiritual experiences could be proven to be entirely brain caused, that doesn't mean it's impossible for there to be a supreme "creator" of some kind out there, or some supernatural force that we don't understand.
I might just be starting to go nuts due to two decades of growing up with mormon conditioning, so I understand my past experience could be messing with my perception by a considerable degree.
However, sometimes I feel like I may have some inherent meaning to my life beyond what I personally ascribe to it, that I have some sort of path I'm on.
Sadly, I can see how I am just suffering from byproducts of being raised in a cult. But at this point in time I can't even be certain if anything is real. Nothing profoundly bad has ever happened to me. Maybe it's just luck, maybe there's something more to it.
I feel like I am getting better as a person. Not to inflate my own ego but I feel like I am abnormally perceptive to other people's emotions and try my best to be kind beyond what I did as a TBM.
Maybe I'm just lucky and tripping balls, but to me at least it seems like there might be inherent meaning to my life.

2023.03.28 12:47 mrQandA 3d-animation experiment

I'm an animation student at University West in Sweden and together with a fellow student I'm working on an undergrad project on the topic of animation and human perception. The survey is entirely anonymous and we don't collect any personal information. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete so if you have a few minutes to spare we'd really appreciate it!

2023.03.28 12:47 LordDaem You can’t progress without a degree.

Back in 2019, I was working as a Property Manager for a nationwide estate agency (Real Estate) managing a portfolio of 1000 rental properties. I was earning £18,000 ($22k) a year, for a 40 hour work week.
Our lowest rent on a property was £900, the most was around £2,500 - so the branch was bringing in over £900,000 per month. The company took anywhere between 10% and 20% depending on the landlords package, which means at absolute minimum the branch was making £90k a month.
I worked hard, often did overtime (unpaid) and made sure the tenants had everything they needed. I asked for a pay rise as, on my income, I didn’t even pass reference checks for our cheapest properties. I was told I was on the top pay level for my job role. I asked about a potential promotion and was told that there was absolutely no chance of advancement within the company without a degree.
That weekend, at 29 years old, I called a university clearing line and registered for a Bachelors in Photography. I went into the office on Monday, handed in my resignation and pointed out that the reason I was leaving was to get a degree so I could further my career. My manager managed to make a substantial pay rise magically appear, but I rejected it.
I’m now 32 and doing a masters degree and funnily enough under a lot less pressure than I was back then.
